In this episode, I cut some gussets out of scrap metal into a couple of different triangular shapes and weld them to the critical areas of the frame for extra stability.

Keep plucking at it buddy! The forks will probably need replacing, and something I'd definitely think about fixing, but you got plenty to work on with this build. You'll get it

man glad you braced them welds up . ok now you have a new issue . them forks on that extreme rake will fail at some point . my advice would be to get you a nice set of triple tree rock shock style forks or even a ridged set of chopper forks . the chopper forks would lift the front end up more and take some of that weird steering feel out of it . your always going to have that odd chopper weird steering with any forks you use but a longer set of forks would raise the front end up and make it better . in any case get rid of them stock forks and replace them with a strong mountain bike style fork of some kind triple tree forks would be the best action . just my opinion brother do as you wish just dont want to see or hear you got hurt on this monster .

As always, I appreciate the input. I like the triple tree fork idea. I'm not sure where to get one that has the right diameter on the center tube though.

@@pulsar2121 just keep your eyes open on peoples trash there always throwing out bikes sooner or later you will find a set . or just chop off the front tube on the frame and weld on a new one that will fit . you figure at 25 30 + miles a hour you want a strong set of forks . the gusset you welding in place will keep your frame from twisting when you cut it off . other then that measure the inner diameter of the tube and check amazon ebay facebook for a set . please dont trust them old forks there not safe for the amount of stress your going to put on them for long .

6:22 you should add another bit behind the motor, directly touching the seat post, on the back and the top bar. Another small triangle there, and possibly a third by the rear shock, as that will be a stress point.

Yep, I got two gussets by the shock. It seem pretty sturdy now. I might add another on the top bar like you mentioned later. I'm playing a bit of a balancing act between rigidity and weight right now and I'm not sure how much more metal I want to add.

@@pulsar2121 true, but considering you have 5hp to play with, are you anticipating pedaling this bike? I thought you said you wern't going to include the pedals?

You need to brace up the front forks or its gonna buckle on you one day.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to do something about those forks. Either bracing or replacing. I just haven't made up my mind yet.

So what was the need to install the jackshaft? Couldn't you just have put the small sprocket from the driven side of the TC on the backside of the plate, to line up with a rear sprocket on the back wheel? Am i missing something?
@pulsar2121

This engine doesn't have any built-in gear reduction like your typical motorized bike engine. I actually do have the smallest sprocket on the TC. The rear sprocket would have needed to be the same size as the rear wheel in order to get a usable speed range. So, the jackshaft makes up for that.

@@pulsar2121 ive seen a lot of videos with bikes with 79cc 4 strokes with torque converters. Obviously they have to modify the weights and springs of the pulleys to get it to engage right. So i guess its 4 gears. Drive to driven from driven to back wheel. I have seen some builds tho with a huge rear sprocket. I have a 136cc and a death row torque converter. I have to get someone to mock up a vertical mount for me to get it all to fit. Will only fit vertical. But anyways im trying yo get it working. So an i going to run into problems with only using the 4 gears like i was talking about? I thought id be good, and is why im asking you about all this.
