15 plus years later.. this song I got to say I make sure I don't overplay.. it still elicits the same feel in my heart gut and soul hearing this. It hurts but it's.. good.

This is such a good song, and even though I don't usually like when people sing like... this... I like how he just, quite frankly doesn't care.

just a question on song interpretation. he says "you're at the bar, or at Jean's.", do you think its a new guy (Gene?) or just a female friend?
@evanp0422 жыл бұрын
I always interpreted it as her friend. Maybe a mutual friend that Conor and her share. The reason I assume that is because lyrically it seems he is familiar with Gene/Jean. Not 100% sure though.

in response to conor whining more than any other musician:: at least he whines about the right things. that's better than the vast majority of songwriters we have.

I love Radiohead but it ain't all about commercial success. I doubt Conor's struggling - he had a number 1 album and single in the US charts at the same time. Conor's been way more prolific and consistantly understood what will move listeners. They're probably both in something of an artistic decline but Conor keeps reinventing himself and he's also still pretty young so...

This kid helped spawn the "overstating little things and taking yourself too seriously" movement that so many priviledged American school boys and girls have paid homage to. He makes me sick. My God, his girlfriend in this song has a freaking maid, people!
