Palace/Bighton is one of the few rivalries based on actual rivalry, and not "hurrr you live near us so we hate you hurrrr"

A few derbies started in other ways. The south coast derby is all to do with the docks and not the football clubs and the fact they are close to eachother.

From a Palace fan point of view I love our rivalry with Brighton also I can say a few things I love about our rivalry and Brighton 1) Glenn murray and what he done for us 2) fact we have a charity match against them which I know is more for Brighton but I still like the fact we play them 3) Brighton is a pretty nice are 4) on non match days i find a lot of Brighton fans are actually nice people 5) the fact we beat them in the playoffs years ago

Palace/Brighton rivalry is really because Millwall was/is busy with West Ham. Millwall/Palace rivalry would make sense. But it's not really there.

Many older Palace fans don't see this or recognise this as a rivalry between the South coast club. Our nearest rivals are obviously Millwall which is 5 miles away. When you look at the borough boundaries they over lap each other at certain points of South East London. Like many Palace fans, including myself, I have family and mates who follow Millwall, the same goes for Millwall who have family members and mates who follow Palace. If you talk about rivalry, Palace have that with Charlton who are 8 miles away from Selhurst.

@@mikehowell9650 My mums family pretty much come from many different parts of Southwark I.e Tulse Hill, which Is closer to Selhurst Park, I was born in Southwark, but raised outside London, never saw Chalton or Palace as proper rivals unlike West Ham, and Leeds.
