@@yt45204 Yes but that Russian* money is money that would have been paid to creditors anyway. Creditors want the money in $ but if Russia* can't pay in that currency as the sanctions hit their central bank that was helping to pay off their debts via JPMorgan; the Russians* will tell the creditors to take it up with the US government if they don't want to take rubles and buy dollars on the open market. And what are the creditors going to take from Russia* anyway as collateral, the sanctions prevent them doing transactions involving Russian assets openly. That's why it's a "default" with quotation marks; Russia* has the money to pay off its debts but it has been hindered in doing so, it's not like Sri Lanka who literally does not have any money and needs to grovel to the IMF.

All jokes aside NO its very dangerous, ukraine doesnt need it honestly its too advanced and there are huge stockpiles of other older missles. Harpoon is much better anyway it has a longer range and bigger warhead, you can fire many and dont need to worry about the cost as much as many countries will phase it out by 2030. If brimstrone falls into russia hands they will give it to north korea and china who will try to copy it just like they copy everything else. If they can be programmed on classified frequencies they should be able to be programmed to detonate if taken by enemy forces before they could be disarmed. I worked on the program that this seeker came from more than 30 years ago. I am sure it has come on since then. On our program, which HMG cancelled, the test shot at China Lake was the first ever to be released outside of detection range of the target, and then to identify and engage the intended target autonomously, and hit it. The Russians are now doing what this seeker was intended to counter, and it isn't meant for killing ships. Basically this is the UK's millimetric Hellfire variant. I wish they had my original program to send to Ukraine, they could wipe out columns of tanks from outside the range of counter battery fire. Oh well.

One of our drones was shot down over Iran, and China bought it from them and copied it. I recently saw a video of a Chinese military parade and they had one of our Reaper drone copies on a flatbed trailer. They also had identical copies of our Hummer jeeps that we are replacing. Similarly, the Tochka-U missile did a fine job against the Russian Landing ship at Berdyansk. It seems Ukrainian weapons are doing a great job. It is of NO USE to have missiles in stock if you can't have a firing system that goes with it (and trained operators). If the Ukrainians are going to be using that weapon, it needs to be part of a system. Discrimination of friend vs foe, targeting, launching and tracking are essential parts of a weapon system. It's not because that missile has been used on a specific aircraft that there's a land-based version of that same system that exists. There would be a more straight forward way to equip aircraft with it though. I do think helicopters would be prime candidates for that, especially if the system relies on avionics input to operate.

? The hellfire is likely the most accurate missile in the world, hence having the AGM-114R9X version which is the bladed version that literally chops it's enemy to death and is used on single person assassinations, like how the US got Soleimani among others. "The Hellfire R9X is a Hellfire variant with a kinetic warhead with pop-out blades instead of explosives, used against specific human targets; its lethality is due to 45 kg (100 lb) of dense material with six blades flying at high speed, to crush and slice the targeted person-it has been called the Ninja bomb and the Flying Ginsu. It is intended to reduce collateral damage when targeting specific people. Deployed in secret in 2017, its existence has been public since 2019. This variant was used in the killings of Jamal Ahmad Mohammad Al Badawi, accused mastermind of the 2000 USS Cole bombing, and Abu Khayr al-Masri, a member of Al-Qaeda's leadership"

@@ABC1701A It didn't kill any innocents... It literally has no explosives as proven above... Hence why all the pictures of his body he was chopped up... Not burnt and blackened like we see in Ukraine. Rather sad to see someone stick up for terrorists though.

@@ThatCarGuy So the unarmed drone chopped up not only his body and also those of the other nine innocent civilians murdered along with him. A murder that was in violation of international law incidentally. US and Russia, two sides of the same nasty coin.

@SplurbBat I have no problem with us paying to help the Ukrainians, I just want to be sure that the money is not coming from the defence budget.

I think you will discover that the printing presses are working overtime churning out the pound notes. It's almost certainly the treasury that's paying for most of this. But that does mean you and me through taxation and a devalued currency.

@@MrBlaxjax I know we will pay either way, that's not my concern. My concern is that money is not taken from the defence budget.
