I prefer brindles. It’s dominant for a reason!

I get why some brindle are not desirable however I have a black brindle predominantly black, hes stunning and his sister was purple/blue brindle predominantly purple/blue also stunning. So some brindles are very desirable and nicer than solid colours.

Hi James great video on explaining The only issue is with this that if you phone any laboratory in the world they have not found the genetic marker for brindle This is why company's have different codings on the k locus cos they are not 100% on this marker so they have to cover theyre backsides if something does not go to plan on a breeding Dominant black and the gene kn no brindling plus the switch gene which activates between the 2 genes allowing the fluctuation on the coat to occur I have seen kb kn dogs with no visible brindling on the dog at all found these to be on the shark line when doing research The switch gene when delved deep enough you can work out if breedings followed very closely to see how many switches are present on the dog Theoretically if a dog is kbkb it should be completely black as are Labradors as they are genetically atat A switch gene can exist between a kn kn dog but will have no influence on the coat as it cannot switch but when bred to a kb kn dog then a double switch can give you the outcome of a full litter of brindles I followed 4 gens on my breeding from a brindle girl and had all kn kn pups Also the reverse brindle can be achieved by applying this switch method when doubled up Hope this interests you

Merle is M/m and non-merle is m/m it’s hard to write that and it not look wrong though with rounded top m’s. Not to get into it but merle has some new research being done you might want to look into it because of the new alleles. They are Mc, Mc+, Ma, Ma+, M, and Mh. Mh is fairly common in your breed and deletes white and can cause deafness. Tilia labs in the Czech Republic can test for these. Since you offer a merle stud it would be a good idea to get him tested. If he is Mh and gets bred to a Mc+ female who doesn’t show merle it could be a catastrophic thing.
