Hi Anthony! Sorry for not replying to you earlier! I was invited to a neighbour's 21st Birthday party, where I designated myself as the unofficial photographer! Therefore, I have been spending the last 8 days editing the RAW pictures using a combination of Luminar Neo and Topaz Sharpen AI (Topaz brings out blurred eyes beautifully) 😻 Anyway I will look at your latest video now and will comment maybe tomorrow. The main challenge I've run into with Luminar is how much different the controls are compared to standard applications that have the drop down menus and various toolbars. I've used Corel Paintshop Pro for so long that it's basically a muscle memory to make the adjustments whereas Luminar is a steep learning curve. On the flip-side the version of paintshop pro I have came as a bundle with a computer I bought and it's an extremely old version which doesn't seem to handle editing RAW files as well as Luminar. Since my introduction to Luminar I've been able to get my feet wet with actually being able to edit RAW. These video have helped me tremendously in becoming more adept at using Luminar Neo... Although I am still not as good at editing as Anthony. ;)

I can see that you love editing as much as I do and really appreciate a good tool / software, so I wanted to give you a heads up on another really good one that just came out. It's made by a company that made "Perfectly Clear" which at the time it came out was good but over the years lost out over other software. They came out with a new program called "Radiant Photo" that I gave a chance thinking "probably not a winner" but turns out to be really good. I found using it first and then going into Neo to produce excellent results really fast. Check it out, you won't be sorry. Hope you enjoy.

Great editing tips as usual. I’m looking forward to watching your training and I hope you’ll find time to introduce the layer blending modes. Another important feature missing in all photo editing tutorials: how to analyze a photo, see if it's worth being edited, and get the big picture on what the final result should look like. You gave us a clue in this example, when you say that the sky is too present and compete with your main theme: the waterfall.

A great video that shows what's possible. Yes. A luminar tutorial would be appreciated. At the moment I am using basic functions for editing bird photos most of which I have learned from your videos, but I have a stack of seascapes that I would like to enhance and dont know where to start. Without your videos my confidence in Neo would be totally shot. With each update there are major dramas requiring uninstalling then reloading older set up downloads. Bearing in mind I work on a small laptop I appreciate that there will be some slowness but when I click on a file to open in Luminar and a completely different past edit is loaded or click on crop and the program closes, it gives me pause to reconsider any further investment in extensions.

As we have come to expect a very well thought out video. I watch these for you thought/planning process and inevitably you click a switch in brain for what should be automatic. Today is the atmosphere feature. I had wondered why they never gave it positional adjustment but they did i just have to remember to use a mask to put it where I want. Duh!! I would like a deeper dive into "the science" of what the tools actually do. Yes I can see the results however I try to replicate what happens in Neo in ps and lr and but I often fail. I think I have my image all good but send it over to Neo and boom it levels it up. There are processes in both which are more efficient so i tend to use Neo as plug in instead of from raw. I need to process the same image in both an really determine which is more proficient for a single image. Thank you!

Hi. A few suggestions for the tutorial: Show workflow using layer properties. Refining Ai selected masks. Should Noise reduction be done via Noisless raw or noiseless Ai? How to get around strange results that Noiseless Raw does to raw files that are slightly overexposed. Once the exposure is fixed and the file brought to Noisless Ai as Tiff, the results are much better than with Noiseless Raw. Possible use case for regular Denoise tool instead of Noiseless. Creative use of some of the less popular tools like Matte, Color Harmony

Another well-presented tutorial Anthony…keep up the good work. Here’s a suggestion for a future content that I’d like to see you tackle. Take an image of the same scene from two different cameras, one camera would be a high-end model and the other a mid-range bridge camera. Both images could then be processed in Luminar Neo using similar processing techniques and when complete Analyse the difference in quality between the two images…is there much difference between an image from a camera costing £500.00 and one costing £2,500.00? …can Neo produce professional results from a mid-range camera?

@@AnthonyTurnham well the are too dark for one thing and the colours are never the same as the screen, I mean they're not totally different but either too intense or not intense enough sorry I can't explain it better, it may be the cheapo printer I have is an HP Envy 5540 with a single black and a multi colour so not the best but I do plan upgrading to an A3 printer from Epson early next year(if I can persuade my good lady that it is of course totally worth it 😉) the new printer has 6 separate ink cartridges so hopefully will be a big improvement. @@johncameron6853 I think you'll see a big improvement with the new one (once approved by the finance department, of course). You'll find most printers will print darker than you see on screen. A slight bump up in the midtones using curves can often make a big improvement here. A bit of trial and error for the exact amount may be necessary though.

I'm thinking the issue perhaps could be... are you converting to .dng in lightroom? I do that as part of my LR workflow and that bakes in all the metadata including the profiles. Once it's there Luminar can read it. Whereas if the z9 doesn't have profiles in Luminar yet the standard nef file won't be read.

Luminar Neo is such a disappointing software if you've used Luminar version 4 or older. They've been removing some nice tools/features and adding buggy AI tools. Skylum butchered editing work flow in NEO. In L4 for example, you didn't have to start editing with develop, you could start with anything then jump right into develop. Now you have to edit a single tool at a time and pray you never have to make any tweaks to a used tool because you can't go back and make changes. Clicking on a previous tool shows the image as it was in the past, not as it is currently with all your edits. This might not make a difference if you just need to tweak exposure, but if you did any work with tones or color, good luck trying to get things just how you want. Skylum has gone so far downhill. What a disappointment.

Respectfully, I totally disagree. I think Neo is a big improvement over both L4 and Luminar AI. Applying tools multiple times with different settings and masked into specific areas for creative effect is a big advantage. It's also much quicker on my computer than either of the predecessors. I also find going back to the tools in the edit tab to make adjustments if need be pretty easy. For sure there are areas of improvement, but I find that with all software.

@@nathanthournmy6478 You would have loved Luminar 3. In 3, you could add multiple tools for masking specific areas. You could also rearrange any of the tools to whatever order you desired for organization. You also had tools like adjustable gradient in L4 and previous versions which for the life of me I can't understand why they would remove. There's no fast/easy work flow to duplicate what you could do with that tool. It's now extremely cumbersome to make a double linear gradient and make tweaks to that mask after it has been set. Presets were at least ordered alphabetically, now your presets are ordered by time created. Do you only do very simple edits in Neo? I don't see how making adjustments in edit after the fact can be easy when like I mentioned you see the image as it was, not how it is. Every photographer I know and have seen, constantly bounces around tools, making tweaks when editing because whenever something new is added, a lot of times you need to go back and readjust something else because it doesn't quite look how'd you want with the new effect. This "how the image was vs currently is" is why I find presets useless in Neo, the whole point of a preset is to have a certain look at the end of a workflow. It's impossible to make the correct tweak to a preset when you click on an "early" tool in edit and the look of the preset disappears.
