@danerdnerdos7384 5 жыл бұрын
@@nolanb9466 are you sure? It sounds like fry and false chord to me. A lot less voice than he used during suicide season and there is a hell. Though, he does sound a little weird when doing fry screams, no enough grit sometimes and ends up sounding like a rock singer from the 80's haha
@nolanb9466
@nolanb9466 5 жыл бұрын
@@danerdnerdos7384 When he does the higher range of screams, he is supposed to use the top most layer of his vocals chords. Clearly, he cannot get that high without his voice crackling and moving towards the back of his throat, and you can hear it. This is because a few years ago he was using drugs during recording sessions, on top of his already injured vocal chords from suicide season, equates to even more damage going into that's the spirit. That's why he took a few months off from recording, for pure vocal rest. I used to be in metal bands before starting my own thing, and I uses to scream and growl, etc., for 7 years. I had the same issues during the last 2 years, wherein I could still do it, but only once and a while after I've had time to recuperate, and even then it would only damage me more. That's because Oli and people like myself never actually had proper training. Trust me, he shouldn't be doing that, and it really doesnt sound good.

For me, I would love for another Suicide Season or There is a Hell style mixed with a bit of Sempiternal instead imo cuz both Oli's clean and dirty vocals are good together for me and since Jordan's synths instrumentals will be included. Or if they wanna do another Deathcore album, maybe Oli can add some clean vocals too to rest from the dirty vocals, doing something like Whitechapel's latest album (and hopefully not new Suicide Silence yeet xd) and maybe even do some experiments with synths from Jordan's instruments.

Christopher Chambers I don’t really understand this. Oli is 32 years old and has already a damaged voice. I know about his wrong screaming drinking alcohol and not warming up for years but he didnt do that for that long. I would say he did that about 8 years. From 2003-2011. Since 2012 he always warms up and takes care of his voice and I don’t think he screamed wrong since then. But still he loses his voice sometimes and has to be really carreful. If you look at Sam carter or Winston McCall from Architects and Parkway Drive. They scream for a long time now and still don’t lose their voice. So I ask myself: Did These 8 Years really fuck his voice so bad that he has to be so careful right now ?
@user-wf9sz4qd9b

8 years constantly bad screaming is of course bad for his voice, especially bc of his youth back then, he was 16(?) when he started ruining his voice.

@@Ziggy_Layne He tries to apply fry vocals as highs instead of false chords and fails. As far as I could figure, he used to use false chords even with the really high notes on their older stuff, which can get dangerous for the vocal chords if you lose control over the scream.
