Bringing Home an Angus BULL to BREED our Jersey Milk Cow

We got a bull for our jersey cow before the huge storm, well there was a big warm before the storm and we got hit with major setbacks getting the bull home. We got him home but definitely with a few challenges along the way.

Good video. that Bull was almost to big for the trailer and then it smacked the door open but thankfully all got home safe and sound. Yep another road adventure success. thanks for posting....

On our ranch, we raised registered Angus. Later on, we started to cross them with Charollet; talk about a big bull. That Charrollet had to be 15 hands!

Honestly, I'm scared for you to open the door for the bull 🐂 to come out. Beautiful black. Don't you remember the bull that went over the fence at The Famous Preston Rodeo a few years ago. I'm so happy it worked out with no accidents.

I definitely see a hot wire until you get a stronger higher fence built,bulls seem to get great enjoyment out of destroying fencing

yeh, that fencing may be good enough for a heifer and calves, but keeping a bull in a small, fenced area requires a much better fence than they have now.

Nice thing about Angus is they are not usually aggressive, however, he will have no problems walking over that fence. I recommend running a hot wire along the top of the fence since he is a temporary resident. Might also train him to the sound of feed in a bucket, if he does get out.

I was remembering that about Angus too. Dad raised Galloway cattle and he bred to his brown swiss milk cow. Good meat.

Angus will also crawl under a fence, if they see a spot! Hot wire low also! Till he's trained at least.

That was quite an experience bringing this bull to your place. You probably didn't have the choice just to bring your cow to the bull's residence. I love Marc's comical attitude and both your patience to gets things done. Hoping for a healthy calf in nine months.

That's why most people use a stock trailer what are the cattle can look out horses don't mind it in an enclosed trailer unless it's hot weather cattle the different ballgame you definitely need to stop trailer if you're going to haul much cattle

Being from Europe you should know that an Angus is a smaller breed of cattle. There is one in France that makes the Angus look like a miniature breed, the Charolais breed is one of the larger breeds. In the coal mining village I lived in there was a farmer who had three Charolais Bulls they stood 6 feet tall at the shoulder.

Do you have a hoof trimmer nearby? if not, the Hoof GP has courses on trimming cows & bulls hooves (claws) He's a ytb'er "The Hoof GP" (Graeme Parker) in s.w Scotland. He is friends with a trimmer here in the states; Aaron Lavoy "Midwestern Hoof Trimmer" as well. happy bovine, happy life...
