When you are new to Red Cherry Shrimp keeping, there is so much information, and misinformation, that it can be hard to know which is which.

It`s so true about water parameters being important for neos I`ve come to a point where I don`t even do water top offs for evaporation anymore or those weekly water changes. I do it when I know it`s been a while but i only take out a little bit of water before filling. But I think the biggest thing i`ve learned is that if you just did an entire maintenance session, like trimming back all the plants or pulling out all the algae, NEVER do a water change the same day, just leave the same water in there and let it clear up on its own. I wait at least a week because doing all that is basically resetting the tank and its nitrate absorption. It doesn`t really matter much for most fish but these shrimp will teach you a lesson

I’ve always struggled with my shrimp, so i rescaped the tank for a Betta, and added the shrimp i had left back into the tank. I now have babies, berried and saddled shrimp. Don’t know what happened but all is good. Great video again mate 👍🏻

I’ve found that my neos really don’t like a temp under 19c or a kh under 3. I do have very low tds tap water with a low kh. Neos should be the “easier” shrimp but my tap water naturally suits caridinas better , people may feel worried about keeping them if they are new but it’s really about understanding your water parameters 😊

Hello brother. Your videos are very educational. Thanks for you effort. A week ago I used normal red soil (without any fertiliser in soil) filled in small glass jars with sand on top of soil to put stem plants in my aquarium. I did it as I wanted a bare bottom tank and also a planted tank. I also did water change 24 hrs after putting jars in my aquarium. There is no any spillage of soil in tank. It's clean and neat. I also have one pothos and one philodendron plantin my tank. Tetras in my tank are very active and healthy. But I found two of my red cherry shrimp dying in this week. Is red soil bad for shrimp? Pls explain. Also tell if I had committed any mistake so that I can rectify them. Thank you brother.

Nive video. Would you please share the brand and name of the black gravel in the thumpnail of this video if it's your gravel or you know what it is? The pic with the cherry shrimp and black gravel. I'm searching and searching for a black or very dark (not grey) gravel that is safe for shrimps, is not coloured and have about the size in that pic. It lookes really nice. Don't whant soil 'couse its to hard to plant in and moves around to easy but can't find a good gravel. The one I have looks good byt I think there is something in it that the shrimps doesn't like, like to much minerals or something, so I want to try a nother one and see if they feel better and get their colous properly. Hope you have any tip.

Hi, I believe I have an infestation of planaria worms .. I have shrimp, ramshorn snails and 5 guppies in an 80l tank. Is it advisable to treat the tank without harming the shrimp? The snails have worms in their shells so they won't last long I don't think.. I have taken out the wood that was housing most of them but they seem to be everywhere still. Or is it best to take all livestock out and start again?

🙋🏻‍♂️ long time subscriber 😁 Question: I have duck weed for floaters. Their stems die off and fall on my substrate. Would an accumulation of dead duckweed at the bottom bother cherry shrimp ? I have a planted tank. Dont gravel vac. (Unless it harms my chery shrimp) 😅

Assuming there isn't so much dead duckweed it risks harming the water quality, I can't see why it would bother them at all. As detrivores, they will almost certainly see it as a food source!

12 hours will be fine, just keep an eye on the algae, it can spiral out of control with too much light. 👍🏻

Good video as usual Richard. One question if you can, what's your take on scuds in shrimp tanks? Some say they are dangerous to baby shrimp, others say they're not. I've seen a couple which I'm using a turkey baster to get rid of them.

Scuds aren’t a threat to shrimp , they may feed on the biofilm though, so if you don’t have a mature enough tank the shrimplets may compete for food. But if you’re supplementing the diet they shouldn’t be an issue.

@@darkstars-torpedoes-of-truth there’s plenty of things , like japonica or planaria , that are dangerous to shrimp but imo scuds aren’t 😁
