Fun Fact: the jaguar in this movie was very affectionate and got all of his meals from a baby bottle.

The stars, literally, aligned to make this gem of a film. So many small, throw away lines pepper the screenplay..."I was born on the side of a hill" one of my personal favorites.

Katherine Hepburn was just magical. Her and Grant's chemistry was great, I'm not usually big on comedies but I liked both this and Philadelphia Story. Good review again!

The comedic timing and chemistry between Grant and Hepburn cannot be equaled. Cary Grant is, was, and always will be the GOAT. Hepburn ain't bad either.

This movie is awesome. I own it. I remember watching this movie for the first time as a kid with my parents. Thank you for this review

My absolutely most favourite screwball comedy. So good that I took the screenplay when it hit public domain this year and made it into a full length audio drama to be released at the end of my Sonic Summerstock Playhouse season.

Cary Grant has been one of my favorite surprises of watching Old Hollywood. I think I could throw anything of his on and love it.

The movie was original and unorthodox when it came out. So much so that audiences did not understand what they were watching and it was not a hit. It has since been appreciated for what it truly is. A great and funny screwball comedy. Well written and expertly acted throughout. In other words a delightful film.

I just watched Harvey with my 9 year old and she loved it. I feel like you would do a great review of this movie and it has a lot of interesting things to say about how people looked at the issue of mental health

Great analysis! I watched Bringing Up Baby for the first time a few months ago. I found it very funny but didn't look beneath the surface. Time for a rewatch!

Loved this movie since I was a kid. Back in the 90s one of the major cable channels would play old movies on certain nights (I think there was a night just for musicals) and my mom would religiously tape them all, so we could watch them over and over, I think our copy of Bringing Up Baby was one of those taped-off-of-the-tv ones.

I'd not have bothered watching this movie if it wasn't for your glowing review. Cary Grant was outstanding in Arsenic and Old Lace, and his comedic talents as an actor seem to have been forgotten. I haven't watched it yet, but will.

So many great lines in this movie: David Huxley: "My intercostal clavicle!" Mrs. Random: "But why are you wearing *these* clothes?" (referring to a woman's negligee) David Huxley: "Because I just went GAY all of the sudden!"

Ever see the Cary Grant flick “Arsenic and Old Lace?” If you haven’t, I strongly recommend you see it and review it. Doesn’t have to be “What Makes This Great,” but just to see your thoughts

Ive bern watching this movie most of my life and I didn't notice the sexual undercurrent. It's STILL a hilarious movie. The filmmaker Greg Araki had an interesting point, that there is an undercurrent of rich vs poor. The rich iltinately get away with everything, but tge poor can't. Katharine Hepburn causes all sorts of trouble that the lower class characters suffer for. I had yo go back wndcwatch it again, and I think he's right. It already has dark undertones, but the darkness really goes much deeper if you buy Araki's theory. Still watching and laughing.

I've agreed with many of your takes but I detested this movie. Mainly thanks to the female lead.
