Thank you for your brioche instructions on decreases and flat. The end of a brioche knit always stumps me so knowing purl always comes forward and knit yarn goes back at the end of each row is most helpful. But two things I will never do in knitting-magic look and socks! 😊

I’m in love. You do the best videos ever. Your voice is really soothing. Instructions are concise. Love the intro. Short enough to not be distracting from the job at hand but so warming because there’s a glimpse of your busy life. Absolutely love that you have no airs and graces for someone so talented. Thank you for all the trouble you take. Will definitely be signing up to be a patron as you’re so worth it. I’m in the UK by the way.

Very well done. I’ve watched countless Brioche tututorials and you have shown up close the area I always goof. Joining the rows and leaving a YO off the single stitch beginning or ending row. I also will space out and purl the slip stitch if I get distracted and resort to my regular K1P1. Thanks will get my needles and begin this KAL👍 Really glad you knit English. I do and seeing Brioche done this way vs. Continental much easier to follow.

Watching you makes me want to try this again. I took a class once to do a brioche hat, ripped it out three times to start again and finally ripped it out and gave up. Your video makes it so much more clear. May have to go and check my yarn stash and see what I can find. Thanks Jana, you are an inspiration!

Well torn this project out many times. Im learning. Even fixing a mistake below but my big problem must have started even earlier. It is the stitch marker every row seams to get further away from the marker. I think it very first stitch by marker. Finish taking it out tomorrow......

@@PurlTogether Yeah must have but to the untrained eye. I started another with different site. Hers was a bit different but it was doing the same, but I trained my eyes better and made a stitch after the stitch marker by going back and fixing while the next row was started. Hard to explain but it worked you could never see the seam. Then the decreasing did not work for me, I got irritate and did it my way so its finished and I like it. Nobody has a hat like that! lol

Hi Jana! I want to knit this hat but because I live in a warm climate I thought of knitting it in dk instead of worsted and it happens that I have the yarn already. I am trying to make a swatch so I can adjust the number of stitches needed for my size. I am making the swatch as I am working with regular two ends needles. Is there a difference in knitting brioche back and front compared to circular? If this is silly question, please forgive me! :))

I decided to make the so called gauge working circular as you show in your video. I have watched a few videos about DPNs Brioche techniques and realized that there is a big difference. It seams easier the circular way. Thank you for showing us! I am looking forward to watching the next video. Cheers!~Catalina

Am wondering what kind of cast on is appropriate, and why the first round was knitted stockinette instead of K1P1 to match the upcoming Brioche rows?
@PurlTogether

I just used the long tail cast on. You can certainly knit the first round K1P1 if you prefer. If I recall, we were just following this particular pattern. Thanks for watching!

Have you made a video not using the magic loop? I’m new to knitting and want to so badly want to make this beanie but, I knit continental and in the round.
@PurlTogether
@PurlTogether 3 жыл бұрын
Magic Loop is just my personal preference. You can certainly use a single circular needle with a shorter cable, maybe 16", then switch to dpns when you decrease at the crown. I just prefer to use one needle for the whole project. The beanie is knitted in the round, and you should be able to knit whatever style suits you, as the stitches will be formed the same way.

I've knitted a couple of brioche scarves flat before . This is the first time trying it in the round with magic loop (which I use for socks, so I'm familiar with that also). Not sure why my knitting is twisting around at the 3rd or 4th round. I've ripped out and started over and yet again it's twisted after having been nice and flat. ? It's quite confusing b/c I'm not knowingly twisting -- just brioche-ing round and round....any ideas? Ripping out again :'(
@PurlTogether

@PurlTogether

I'm not sure I understand your question. At this point in the video I'm at the beginning of the round and the lighter colored yarn needs to be on top of the needle, since it's a yo. Then I knit it together with the next stitch to create the brioche knit stitch.

I’m using 16” circs, but in the future I’d like to do this magic loop. How do you get the beginning of the round in the middle & not on the end?
@PurlTogether
@PurlTogether 4 жыл бұрын
After you join in the round, just slip your stitches across purlwise (as always) until you get to the center of the first needle's worth of stitches. So in my case I cast on 72 sts. I slipped 18 sts around and placed the marker in the middle of that first half. Does that make sense?
@Stephlovesnapping
@Stephlovesnapping 4 жыл бұрын
