This is Brisbane for Digital Nomads, my full evaluation of the capital city of Queensland, Australia specifically for those who work and travel.
In the video, I briefly cover coworking spaces, cost of living and things to do in Brisbane, Australia.
Brisbane is my home city and although it's not a digital nomad hotspot, I think that Australia has much to offer for digital nomads and I hope to cover more of it on this channel.

I'd love to check out Bali - the only thing is I work FT for a software company and am assigned EU hours, meaning I'd have to work some crazy night shifts in Asia :/ ...definitely will keep that on the backburner for the future though. Makes sense, I say the same the with the semi-permanent places I stay in too lol

No tipping culture??? You said the magic words! I'm on my way! On a more serious note, I love that you went out of your way to describe the Go Card so carefully. I always find myself really embarrassed in a new city when I don't know what I'm doing on the bus. Not knowing exactly what to do when you board a bus or a train for the first time can be so intimidating. Going to public libraries is actually one of my favorite hacks when no co-working spaces are available. Some cities really invest in them so they make for really pretty workspaces sometimes.

Chris the Freelancer I’ve been living in the Petrie Terrace in Brisbane (postcode 4000) for the last five years and I’m paying in a share house just $200 a week takes me 10 minutes to walk to the Myer Centre or the CBD 10 minutes to walk to Southbank and 25 minutes to walk to Fortitude Valley where all the nightlife is if you’re energetic!! I have a car spot undercover and all my expenses are included e.g. electricity water Wi-Fi! I do my food shopping at the markets Southbank or at New Farm I can live on $70 a week food so I find it very comfortable much cheaper than Sydney and Melbourne and Paris which I was at this time last year also a lot cheaper than London and other countries around that I’ve been to including New York Los Angeles so no I find this much more easier living! ! Ther are the countries that I’ve lived in that I found cheaper Calcutta India Bangkok , Istanbul Turkey Bosnia Croatia and Montenegro but you did not get the lifestyle of Brisbane the river area the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast Tamborine Mtn , Glass House mountains Plus by flying you can go to the Whitsundays less than two hours away some of the most beautiful beaches in the world so all you people who say Brisbane is not the place to be have never lived here because I’m an Uber Driver and I pick up tourist & business people every day for the last five years and their comments are it’s the cleanest city they have seen and the friendliest and very easy to live in!

Coffee has it's own category xD In all seriousness, we've done New Zealand but not Australia, and $2000 AUD a month in a large city, including rent...isn't too bad. Fruit/veg maybe is expensive due to it being winter probably, New Zealand's fruit/veg market was very fluctuant on seasons. Auz is on our to-visit list, we'll need a year or 2 and a van to tour it, but we're coming!! Good video to give real-world price updates as of right now :)

Brissy is great! Thanks for the breakdown of co-working spaces. An awesome library with fastest wifi in the city as well as a dedicated business centre (and you don't need to join) is the State Library at Southbank. It's the best! Lots of spaces to work and you can even book a meeting room or study nook for 3hr blocks. And for cafe working, there are a bunch of places in West End that are great including Grown and Plenty. In case that's helpful anyone else watching. :) thanks for the vids!!

Another option in AU for occasional car usage is carsharing services such as GoGet or Flexicar which let you rent cars parked on the street by the hour. They include fuel in the price and are less stressful than car rentals with large contracts + vehicle inspections. But are probably more useful in the bigger cities where the cars are more widespread. I've never used it but Car Next Door also seems popular with the similar concept but you use an app to rent someone's private vehicle.

Total ripoff. Single Oz pension is around $1,500 a month. People are leaving Oz to live elsewhere because they can't afford to live there. Lots of Europe etc is much cheaper ,that's probably why digital nomads don't come to Australia.

hmm, I don't quite understand that. Australia might have a comparatively high cost of living but the same can be said for our wages as well. The average Australian earns around $80,000 AUD per year (according to the ABS) which is much more than enough to live on...
@sdnalyam
@sdnalyam 6 жыл бұрын
@@ChristheFreelancer . Average is very misleading. Check what the wage is for a private in the Army, you know the people who are prepared to be mailed and die protecting Oz. Very much doubt it's $80,000. If you check the figures for OECD, Oz is near the top for costs with no increases in living standards. Look at internet speeds . All of the world except Oz and I think NZ is unlimited. Food prices much cheaper in Europe. Electronics etc 2 year guaranteed in Europe. Digital nomads is about doing your work and arbitraging your income with better costs of living. Maybe the reason you don't permanently live in Brisbane.
