Non-Denominational on the religion map does not mean atheist. It means a Christian grouping that does not adhere to a specific subset group (i.e. baptist, lutheran, catholic, reformed, etc.). They would typically just say "Christian" if asked.

Part of the reason that Minnesota welcomes so many immigrants (especially refugees) is that Lutheran Social Services has a mission to assist them in adjusting to life here.

5:22 - This is incorrect. The northeast U.S. is physically closer to Africa than the southeast, with Maine being the closest state. A common misconception, but you have to think spheres & great circles. I guess they beat me to it in his comments. 😂

13:47 Long story short, there are several Protestant Christian branches in the US like Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran. They are all different from Catholics because they don't answer to the Pope. The difference between each of those Protestant branches is usually with the structure of the church leadership and how it's run. Doctrine is mostly the same across all of them.
@ruth2141
@ruth2141 Ай бұрын
The different Protestant denominations differ from each other in some doctrines, like the role of women in the church, how often to take communion, what form is followed in the worship services, etc. For instance, the Methodists and Episcopalians both developed from the UK Anglican church, and many people would not notice a huge difference between their services. But there are differences that each consider important, like one using grape juice and the other wine for communion.

I'll say this again but I'm not a fan of the Portuguese narrator for that channel. He literally admits to learning all of these stats for the first time and then doesn't do any research. Some of his so-called facts are just guesses or assumptions. Does he even know why California has a lot of Teslas? That channels budget is 80% graphics and 20% research.

Trucks tend to have more robust suspensions and are higher off the ground. These tend to make for smoother rides, better visibility for the driver and less chance of flooding out when crossing deep water in intersections during storms. Trucks are also more resilient during crashes than most (much smaller) cars.

One thing to bear in mind the size of each State differs greatly , example: an automobile in Texas will have more wear and tear due to mileage. Keep in mind gasoline prices and how often you need to fill your tank. States should not be compared in this manner.

Christian denominations usually differ quite a bit in how the believe Christianity should be practiced, and most notably in which parts of the Bible are the most relevant to be observed. Protestantism (coming from the word "protest") is the schism from Catholicism, most notably for issues such as the Catholic church long recorded history of corruption and idolatry. From there the protestants began to break up into subsects based on various differences in opinion, such as Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran (named after Martin Luther who started the Protestant Reformation). Most groups have developed some form of additional doctrine to more clearly structure their specific denomination, most notably Mormonism (Officially Latter-Day Saints or LDS) for the development of the Book of Mormon, which is considered a 3rd testament (i.e. Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon). All of it is very complicated and as all religious discussions go end in a lot of everyone making excuses and arguments until eventually someone explains it all away with, "God works in mysterious ways," which is religious speak for, "I don't know either man, I just pray here."

A lot of others have put good historical answers to your questions about denominations but just to add my two cents, as someone raised catholic, i grew up believing that catholics and Christians believed the same things pretty much- and then i talked about church with my friends who stared at me in uncomfortable silence. (For context, we are all openly queer folk and had been for some time, and part of my discussion was of some of my sunday school teachers less than great (re:awful) statements on lgbtqia stuff, along with what a priest then went off on a homily about divorce) So as someone who thought as a kid a church is a church and all catholics are Christian so any Christian church would do it took one time to find out no, other denominations do not do things the same way. Some believe entire different things. For instance, in catholicism, we did communion every week, and that during the mass the bread does turn into the body and the wine into the blood. In my church there was a special sink just for the communion glasses and bowls to be washed in as special preparation had to be done (i was an alter server for many years as a kid, but i never got to see) while my friend who was a jehovahs witness communion was something their elders partook in at special times. And another one of my friends who went to a non denominational, or at least didnt know theirs, they had communion on holidays and got grape juice in paper cups. (At my church there were four cups at most and everyone lined up, after a drink was taken the cup would be wiped and then the next person would go. I stopped going before the pandemic started, but i havent stopped wondering what they do now. If they've changed i dont know.) In catholicism we also pray to saints at times for guidance. I guess this isnt normal in other denominations. Its why we have so many statues and figures, we pray in front of them, it was explained to me that saints are already in heaven and closer to God, so they know how to make him happy and do right by him. Theres also the differences in denominations beliefs about heaven, hell, purgatory, how to get there, whether purgatory exists, what requirements are there if any, and the like. The church atmosphere can be different too. My church, mass was 1 hour every sunday. Mass is a very ritualistic thing. Say the same prayers, stand, sit, and kneel at the right times. Sing the right songs. Listen to the readings and homily. Get communion. Sing. Leave. There wasnt any real talking to each other expect for the one part where you turn to the person next to you and shake their hand, and even then you have lines to say "peace be with you" "and with your spirit" (we used to respond "and also with you" but it changed at some point when i was in late elementary early middle school). I thought that was how all churches were. I guess other churches arent nearly so... i dont know how to describe it. I brought a friend once and they later told me it honestly freaked them out and felt like they were in a horror movie cult because everyone around them just stood up in sync and started talking at the same time saying the same thing. And when i try to take a step into their shoes i can see why that would be freaky, but i still dont have words to describe it because before that it never felt that way. And i still dont really know how other churches work. Especially since i know other denominations have masses that last longer than an hour on average, but i honestly have no idea what they're doing besides presumably singing and preaching. My friend who was a jehovas witness said they had discussions on notes they took ob Bible passages they were read to by the elders of their church. Sorry for the large info dump, just wanted to share my experience and what i know :3 great video

As Georgian let me point out some incorrect stuff because he goes by assumption. . At 6:08 his assumption by largest attracting you can tell which states get the most visitors is completely wrong. Minnesota get 77 million tourists a year Georgia gets 167.7 million. The Mall of America in Minneapolis is counting both in state and out state visitors but since it's a mall something local would shop at regular the numbers are inflated. It's not like a monument, land mark or natural feature etc. Stone mountain locals may visit that thing once and never go back but yet Georgia get 100 million more tourists it because Georgia has twice the population and a much larger major city in Atlanta. People would visit to go to more attractions altogether Conventions, Nightlife, MLK district, Savanah etc. regardless that stone mountain by be the biggest sole attraction its not representative. Also since we on this topic, 4:33 Minneapolis has a very high specifically Somali population but not a very high overall or diverse African immigration population. Atlanta in the Southeast is higher, The reason the Southeast is less than the Northeast is because there more historical larger cities. NY, Boston, Philly, DC that's 4 top 11 metro areas. Atlanta is a top 10 metro but in the Southeast cities beside Atlanta like Charlotte are smaller growing faster but they are younger less establish cities immigrants would go to establish get way cities first.....

Chevrolet was General Motors' least expensive line but they have discontinued a lot of their former pricier lines: Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick. They still make their luxury line, Cadillac, but I'm not sure if it's sold in the UK.

@@MrHello-nx4xs Yeah, it is, sort of (does it still actually carry a Chevy badge? It's always had its own with the crossed race track flags suggesting it's a racing car). The Corvette and Thunderbird started out in the 1950s as middle class competition for super expensive European sports cars made by the two American middle class car brands. For decades, they were basically 2-seater muscle cars. It still starts at $68,300 which competes with many pickups and SUVs. You can certainly jack up the price from there with options. But I would argue it's still no Ferrari, Maserati or top end Porsche.

Note that he is strictly showing how states produce their electricity, not how much of that source they produce. So hardly anyone uses oil to generate power, but Texas reserves of oil as well as gas are massive. When Texas was formed, no one knew about oil, much less gas. But the Constitution reserved all land not privately deeded to the State. Little of West Texas was deeded, because cattle were raised open range, and ranches normally owned little more than the tract around the main house and maybe a water source. So the rest belonged to the State. And when oil became important, the State became wealthy from oil and gas leases and runs the State university system off the proceeds. The visitors map does not reflect the ratio of permanent residents to visitors. That would be very high for some western states. The Appalachian Mountains are far older than the relatively newly formed Rocky Mountains that have not had time to wear down. The Rockies are still growing. Passport possession is affected by the availability of great places to go within the local region. Many people travel inside the U.S. a great deal.

Chevy, to the best of my knowledge, never expanded much into Europe under their own brand, unlike Ford which has always had a big Europe branch. GM was the KING of rebadging, basically they had a bunch of "different" car brands that often even competed with each other, but many of the cars each sold were basically different versions of the same car. Buick SUVs were actually Opals, Pontiac sedans were actually Holdens, etc. So you almost certainly have seen chevies, but they were probably using other names. That system was INFAMOUSLY bloated and inefficient, and was a huge part of why GM fucking exploded in 2008. They sold off or shut down a crap load of brands after declaring bankruptcy, and the government bailing the company out was and is a very controversial topic. Examples of General Motors (GM) brands: Chevrolet (standard and sports cars), GMC (commercial vehicles and heavy trucks), Buick (premium variants of cars targeting older buyers.... and China), Cadillac (luxury). Historical GM brands (defunct or sold): Opal, Saab, Pontiac, Lotus, Bedford, Holden, Hummer, Oldsmobile, Saturn, Vauxhall

The many Christian religions stem back to the Reformation and you would need to study the history of that period to understand them. In very simplified terms, geography entered into it too. Lutheranism began in Germany and northern Europe when Martin Luther began preaching against certain aspects of Catholicism. Similarly, Methodism and Presbyterianism arose, I believe, in Scotland for similar reasons. Most know that England's Henry VIII split the Church of England, aka Episcopalianism, off from Catholicism in large part because the Pope wouldn't annul his marriage to his first wife, Mary, so he could marry Anne Bolyn. I'm not sure where or why Baptists arrose. But on it goes.
