The arguments against the free trade zone working are very sound and I commend you for the good research. Again you miss the point. CANZUK does and will not have to be a federation. The one elephant in the room CaspianReport misses is financial free zone along with a free trade zone. Why is this crucial? The City of London is the second largest stock and financial market on earth. Its financial global reach is impressive. Under CANZUCK the combined weight of City of London, Toronto, Sydney and Auckland would displace Wall Street as the number one stock and financial hub. No air, land or sea necessary in a cyber digital world for this to happen. Along with free movement of professional workers interoperability of such a free financial zone is assured. This the lynch pin on why it will work and CANZUCK know this implicitly. CaspianReport it would seem does not.

Australian and NZ farming products used to have a big market in the UK, but that changed with the EU due to the tariffs created for French farmers. I'm English but I've spent a lot of time in Oz and spoken to aussies and kiwis about it. In this video he presents CANZUK as some sort of Empire 2.0, but in reality we all know the USA is the dominant global power. Britain is different now, and CANZUK would have to be about shared values, such as individualism, liberty, etc. It's also not true that we are returning only due to Brexit; one of the main things about Brexit is we have completely different attitudes to many European countries, as opposed to Anglophone countries.

Probably because the US alone would be larger in population than all of CANZUK combined. That would have a significant influence on the politics of a CANZUKUS federation since the market and military power of the US would dominate. In effect, CANZUKUS would be a modified version of NATO. The other point is that AUS NZ and CAN are still Commonwealth nations where the head of state is still the Queen of England. We held a referendum in Australia some years ago to decide whether we should be a republic or stay a constitutional monarchy. Republicanism lost out that time, but as the population demographics continue to shift due to immigration, and the birth of citizens who have no ties to the old Empire, that margin will change in due course. A federation of this sort would require a referendum and I don't really see this passing in Australia.

Yeah there's no way this is going to work out for them beyond a trade agreement. Canada doesn't view itself as an English nation, so it will never join. New Zealand would never join because they are completely happy themselves. Australia I'd the only possible canidate, but even they wouldn't join a federation with Britain. This whole plan is basically just England begging it's ex-colonies to prop up the failing british state
@arfived4
@arfived4 3 жыл бұрын
@@argon7479 I don't see what the point of this would be for anyone. Canada is economically and culturally an adjunct of the US, and aren't about to switch focus to the world's largest economy just over the border to a few smaller markets half a world away, Australia has an economy which is becoming increasingly integrated with China, particularly mineral exports, and I can't see them shifting focus from one of the world's fastest growing economies to either an island half a world away that doesn't really make anything requiring those minerals, or a country that can far more easily deal with the US. New Zealand is tiny, and has scenery and sheep. If Britain DID want to partner with a former Dominion, that has a rapidly growing economy and uses English as a common language, they could have tried to forge closer ties to India, but given that a whole load of the popular Brexit rhetoric revolved around erroneous claims that "leaving the EU means we can send all the Muslims back home", even thought there are no Muslim EU nations....

We already have our military and intelligence alliances that will make creating such a thing like CANZUK impossible without the US being involved. Furthermore, I get the idea that on the British side, it's nothing more than a fever dream of the Farragists and Brexit hard-liners. A little-remembered fact is that in 1973 when the UK threw it's lot in with the EEC, Australia lost preferential trade deals and began to re-orient it's trade to Asia. Now that the UK has left the EU, it has to be dreaming if it wants to give the UK a slice of this pie.

Yeah, This guy controlled the narrative o hard especially at the end of the video making a poor men's assumption on a lot of topics. He says it will bend the knee to the USA in Naval capabilities however with the 4th largest Navy on earth and most advanced Navy that simply isn't true. The United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand have potential for more, The UK has two carriers with Australia and Canada both having the surface fleet to adopt carriers themselves if needed. Canada could adopt helicopter docks similar to the Canberra class and Australia has the Canberra class itself again there is enough surface fleet ships to enable this. In theory and in practice they can moderate waters quite happily and easily. The USA has NO say in what goes on and CANZUK was never about Anglo unification hence why Ireland or USS isn't there but about Commonwealth countries uniting somewhat hence why Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa are options to be looked at, Singapore especially since their economy is almost t the right stage. He acts like it needs to be a federation parliament??? The majority of the ideas don't need a federation parliament. It makes things more coercive but you can simply do subyearly meetings ie 6months to discuss changes in regards to tarrifs changes, immigration standards or defence and foreign policy outlook without needing that upper parliament. In fact you don't even need that 6 month meeting, You can simply contact the trade minister's for trade deals changes etc. One of the worst interpretations of CANZUK ever

What CANZUK really means is the expansion of the existing Australia/New Zealand Closer Economic Relations agreement to the UK and Canada. The CER already has all the required features including alignment of regulatory frameworks, free trade and free movement of people. The CER is one of the most comprehensive and successful free trade agreements anywhere in the world.
@user-qf6yt3id3w
@user-qf6yt3id3w 3 жыл бұрын
I like the way the CER is based on mutual recognition of standards rather than having some sort of CER wide standardization across Australia and New Zealand. So in the CER arrangement, Australia recognizes educational qualifications granted by New Zealand universities and food standards by the NZ food standards authority. There's no EU style attempt to make everyone have the same standards, more like 'those folks over there have comparable standards to us'. So you can qualify as a solicitor in NZ and go work as one in AZ. Of course, over time this is likely to mean that solicitors in NZ get told 'Here in NZ we do things this way but if you're in Australia they do things slightly differently'. It's basically a much better way to do it than the EU model which doesn't even try to make qualifications portable but does try, and largely fails, to micromanage a load of stuff to benefit France and Germany and screw everyone else.

Having a shared head of state is used as one of the key selling points now by CI and other youtube CANZUK proponents. We don't know what an actualized CANZUK would look like yet, because this is just an idea. Right now though, there is clearly a difference in how you see CANZUK, and how the UK and UK loyalists see CANZUK. Caspian Report has a skeptical bias against CANZUK, as do many people. But just because he has an agenda, does not make Shirvan wrong. Shirvan also made a recent video about Canada. Before that, we Canadians recently blocked drone technology to Turkey in an effort to keep drones out of his country's conflict with Armenia, so his bias against us would be expected. But beyond over-emphasizing the seriousness of some of our challenges, his research was solid, and I can't say he was wrong.

Dropping the ‘Commonwealth’. Thank God. The Mentioning of QE2 is just about highlighting the things we share in common. Like language. This wasn’t pushed by the government. It wasn’t a government or even a parliamentary initiative. It came from people like me lobbying for it for years. I was laughed at by them or just ignored. They were fully concentrated on the EU back then. Now look at them. The Conservatives in Canada now have CANZUK as party policy. In all honesty it’s just about freer trade and freer movement based on the relationship between Australia and New Zealand. Talk of military cooperation was always there from the start. But not union of any kind. ✌️Anyway enjoy your evening. I can promise you. I’m not a nutter. I really am one of the five people that founded it. Regards.

Yeah its been told by many politicians from each nation they like CANZUK Alot and one of their reason for liking it is bc they are still and will always operate as their own sovereign nations

@@arminius6506 China is not a long term rival. Their economy isn't value added, they can't defend their sea lanes, they import their food because their arable land (which use 5x the industry standard in inputs) isn't enough to sustain their population, and they are dependant on exports because there isn't a domestic market for their own goods which is garunteed to remain true for the next 20 years because of their demographics. Not to mention their insane debt levels, subprime mortgage crisis on the horizon, and a population that has an average age older than the average age in the US. China is Enron on a country level.
