Charlie Murphy’s stories are hilarious. There’s a part 2 of his Rick James stories & he also has a Prince story. He’s Eddie Murphy’s brother so he’s been around celebrities & the entertainment industry a long time. There are interviews of people confirming his stories.

Eddie Murphy was a huge celeb in the 80's, Charlie is his brother and partied in his entourage meeting the big stars of the day. Rick James is iconic, his music and personality were over the top. Mixing the re-enactments with the actual true stories is hilarious!

Eddie’s career was still big past the 80s. Dream Girls, Nutty Professor, Shrek, and so on so I’d be surprised if they don’t know who he is. He actually is in a great movie on Netflix called Dolemite is my name.

I think it might be a cultural thing that it comes across as random to you. I laughed my ass off. Rick James was a funk singer known for partying, drugging, flamboyant, hyper sexual and being way over the top. So the fact that he’s confused and contradictory is part of the joke. He even has a song called Mary Jane which on the surface sounds like a long song to a woman but it’s really about marijuana. I bump it all the time and I don’t even smoke. 😂 Rick and Eddie recorded a song together too.

This wasn't "random" at all. You two just aren't familiar with that time period when Rick James and Eddie Murphy were two of the biggest stars on Earth. Rick was known for his drug problem and outlandish behavior. They were even dropping song titles in this sketch you no doubt have never even heard. Charlie Murphy's true Hollywood stories are legendary sketches on the legendary Chapelle show.

What is so crazy about this "skit" is that 95% of it is factual reality...same with Dave's Prince skits!!! Trust me, I have seen so many famous Hollywood musicians, comedians, actors, etc...say how much that these skits were close to what actually happened!!! P.S. If you grew up watching Rick James and Prince, these skits would make you pee your pants, especially when you realize how accurate they truly are!!!

Dave Chappelle is so hilarious, mainly because he goes so much further and more edgier than any other comedian. People might t offended, but it is also relatable, and one time or another they might have the same stereotype of another race but were too afraid to admit it, no one is off limits, he goes after everyone, not just one group. It's comedy people, lighten up! If you are offended, quit watching it, why is it people should all feel the way they do, the self-centered, entitled, arrogance of people is what is killing comedy, debate, and encouraging segregation.

The story behind the "Charlie Murphy True Hollywood stories" is this. Charlie Murphy, who is Eddie Murphy's brother, came to Hollywood back in the 80's with his brother Eddie. Charlie was a regular cast member of the Chappelle show and at lunch, Charlie would tell these great stories about Hollywood back in the day. The stories were so funny, Dave Chappelle made them into some skits.

I went to an Historically Black college. When this came out, smart phones weren't a thing yet, nor was youtube. Minutes after this episode aired, all you heard in the dorm was "I'm rick james bitch!", "f yo couch!" and "darknesses!"

Yeah, I've seen it a lot on reactions from the younger crowd. It's like when they react to Airplane! They find it funny, but miss about half of the humor, because, they have no clue of the culture of the time. There's very little humor that survives the passage of time. Well, except the Marx Brothers, and farts.

Seems like might have missed some context and youtube didn't show everything. Rick James was celebrity musician and the other guy in green screen was the real Rick James. So it was great he went along with skit. Charlie Murphy is the brother to Eddie Murphy the actor, also the real person they got. Just these over top E-hollywood stories being told in most ridiculous ways we have never seen. Most of us didn't really know there personally lives so was kind of shocking and hilarious for many of us first time viewers of these celebs. But the cherry on top is that most of these Charlie Murphy stories are true stories that had far more truth than fiction. It was just him hanging out with his famous brother seeing crazy stuff at celeb parties.

According to decades later accounts, from multiple parties involved, it is likely that aspects of this story were most certainly true. Maybe, slight to vigorously embellished at various levels. Rick James, DEFINITELY was a habitual line stepper!!!!
