Lindsay Buckingham should be on everyone's most understated guitarist list . I don't understand why he doesn't get the guitar virtuoso status that he deserves .

Um... He's not that good. There have been at least two guitarists in Fleetwood Mac since 1976. And kept hidden until 1997. Well, actually, 1987, when Rick Vito and Billy Burnett Stepped in. Lindsey's ego... And yes. His off-pitch screaming, a trade mark.

@@dfwjac I'm not going to disagree w you on certain things. But I actually love his "screeching" (which I've heard it referred to as such before) - I friggin love his style of playing, singing, and performing on stage. I am aware of the negatives about him, but I'm willing to accept them because I really love the whole package of his style and sound.

Lindsey is such an underappreciated guitarist. I've seen him play live twice (the last time just before his unfortunate heart attack) and I was blown away at how his guitar just filled the venues with his unique melodic tones. Hopefully he will recover his health and be able to tour again.

Lindsey is one of a kind. One of my favorite performers. His heart is always on display. I can't get enough of his emotional, guitar picking fingers that make his guitar sing like his only Lindsey, emotional, stellar, voice. Your guitar skills and excellent musical ear make your analysis of music a cut above anyone I've seen on KZfaq.

One of my favorite bands. Note that Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham get a lot of the spotlight, but don't forget many of their biggest hits were written by Christine McVie: Say You Love Me, Over My Head, You Make Loving Fun, Hold Me, Little Lies, Everywhere, etc.. One of the things that makes this band so great is three diverse songwriters and the use of vocal harmony. In this song, Christine McVie is actually on the top during the verses, even though she has a fairly low voice for a woman. All three have a range with a large overlap so you get excellent blending and lush harmonies.

The way Lindsey melds a classic , rootsy, back hills banjo like finger- style , with that blue grass under- tone and makes it into rock, is really unique and fantastic. And the delta- bluesy feels..it really amazes me. Great subject to have a look at.

For a lot of the fans, the stage drama was just part of the show in those days. They would take you through the emotional spectrum, love- fear- anger- loss, etc. One minute Lindsey’s screaming, next minute Stevie’s crying, then Christine has you dancing, etc. It was always a helluva show.

Absolutely my favorite performance of this song ever. I can’t go back to the studio version. Their electrifying interactions, are stunning, shooting daggers w their looks and spitting lyrics back and forth is riveting. I believe they’d actually broken up several years before, and she also told Lindsey at the time, “we are not breaking this gig up!” I’m pretty sure I heard her say that in an interview. Super cool you checked this out and played w it. You’re amazing!!

Lindsey has always been a highly under appreciated guitar player. You get to see his talent on live performances like this one. Lindsey and Nick's seemed to be yelling at each other here, almost losing vocal control. It's a brilliant song which is why it has held interest for so long. I saw Mac during their Bare Trees era. Fhil, you are the best breaking down a song. I can't follow most of the technical speak, but I enjoy your presentation!

Boy they had a history and turnover in their band. But they didn't hit real/epic popularity until Lindsey and his gal Stevie, at the time, joined up. So ironic that the people that made them who they are, almost broke them up (well sorta of). That is intense and real life. You can hear and see all the emotions(probably conflicting) still in their performance. But as fans ,we love seeing this kind of thing; the intensity and drama. But having to live it, must have been so hard (the adulation ,the egos, jealousy) Not to mention both of them are extremely attractive and talented. Well, It's so weird because I graduated HS in 1982 and I recall listening to that song being overplayed on FM radio during that time . It was so popular, we almost got tired of it. Their music was kind of climatic. Now that I hear it again, I must play it again. Thanks for sharing.

😅 Excellent breakdown. I know the rest of the band was in the background like, 'I'm staying back here, away from all the sparks'. Lol.✌🏾🎹 Not necessarily on this channel, but I hear people in the chat/comment talk about how 'underated' Lindsey is. Bro/Sis, he's known worldwide. 🌎 I get what people are trying to say but he and Christine are wildly popular and are well known for what they do.

I bought Rumours when I worked in a record store, 1977 I think. It's a fabulous album, every track a gem but The Chain had its own weird sound, mostly due to Stevie's vocals I guess and the way they blend with Lindsey's, it was magical. Lindsey is such an epic guitarist it's easy to forget what a great voice he has but here he is, proving you can be high as a kite and still play like you've got ten fingers on each hand, so long as you're Lindsey Buckingham. The whole band is great on this, McVie's bass riff, the percussion that follows it and Christine's harmonies. Thanks for showing us the guitar part which has always been a total mystery to me. I won't be attempting that but I'll use a couple of phrases for practice 😂 Great analysis and great fun this one 👍

Stevie is the queen of rock. i think that in conjunction with her vibrato, she utilizes a guitarists trick in having one string just slightly out of tune. Just a touch, enough to add a little tension on usual occasions like a seventh, third, or fifth of a chord harmonizing with other voices or instruments. She is just the natural master. Aretha is the queen of soul, Stevie is the queen of rock.

Add Grace Slick to that ballot before we vote. No hate for Stevie Nicks, I love her voice. But Grace invented female rock vocals. And now the Joan Jett fans are going to pile on and away we go...🤪

@@emilygraham9968 Shalom to you Emily - Ann has been giving me goose bumps since 1975 when she showed the rest of the world just how it is done! And to this day she is untouchable with her effortless power. I love her, and Nancy also. Have every Heart album (LP's, Cassettes, CD's, DVD's and now BluRay's). And they are such humble, modest and beautiful people, we are all getting older but I still hope I can meet them both in this life. Have had my share of Heavy Rock and Christian Gospel / Rock bands, always have included one or two Heart classics in our set, in Israel my young friend Ella joins us, she can do a pretty impressive "Alone" and we also cover the beautiful "Mistral Wind", another classic! Nice to share with another whom truly admires pure talent. Blessings to you and yours!!

Catch up crew with "like" number 380. Very interesting analysis, especially with detuning the Es to Ds. I enjoy hearing how nonstandard sounds are created.

Besides Linsey being the only guitarist that can play a rhythm & lead at the same time flawlessly, but not mentioned here is you are not going to be able to get his tone unless you have a Rick Turner LB 1 in your collection. Which in my opinion that guitar is so unique to any other guitar ever made with its clean acoustic sound and when in overdrive it has that chunky hard rock sound. Amazing!
