They do flyover in all types of games, not just the superbowl

I live in CO, they do flyovers for the Air Force Acadamy football games, it is always amazing. The whole parking lot rumbles, car alarms go off, etc, it is so cool.

I was at the one after 911 and it was a big tearjerker but also very heartening. And, yes, DT #58 did tear it up that day. RIP Derrick

People in any other nation would freak out on a flyover if they didn't know a B2 was coming.

I was at a college football game Rutgers v the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. We had seats high up towards the very top of the stadium. I wasn't expecting a fly over, but then jets came out of nowhere, so close, it seemed, to our heads. The sheer noise and vibration of the jets was amazing.

All these are not the Superbowl, probably start of season, playoff games, holidays and special events going on. They also provide training for pilots who are on weekend training as well.

I've been to many games at Arrowhead that have had flyovers...A mix of chills and pride every time.

Flyovers are so sick, they always make you freeze and forget where youre at for a bit. im not even very much of a patriotic person, but flyovers are truely spectacular

I live in North Louisiana in the southern US and my house is literally less than 5 miles from the flight line of Barksdale Air Force Base, home of the 2nd Bomb Wing and home base for the remaining B-52 fleet. I hear planes flying constantly. So low and loud it rattles my windows and triggers car alarms. I’m so used to the plane noise I can tune it out. I forget how awesome it can be to look up and see awesome planes above you. Flyovers are a big thing in college and pro football so one can see them almost any game, not just super bowl. The pilots use flyovers as hours towards required yearly training so they happen quite often.

At NASCAR, they are usually perfectly timed to come by just after the National Anthem plays. It doesn't matter what it is, they get you pumped. One of my favorites was the WWII fighter planes.

Fun Fact: last year in 2020, many large sporting events and ceremonies that would normally have flyovers were cancelled due to Covid, obviously. And so two flight demonstration teams, the Navy's Blue Angels and the Air Force's Thunderbirds, didnt have as many shows and flyovers to do. So to honor the essential and front line workers, they teamed up and began doing flyovers over major cities and population areas to boost everyone's moral. Its was one of the few times a flyover was done for a non-major event. This also kicked off other squadrons from various branches to do the same.

The coolest part of the flyover especially of the fight jets is that you don't even hear them until they're right above you and you don't hear them once they've cleared the stadium.

There was a pair of F16s that kept flying over my neighborhood every 15 or so minutes earlier this year, for like an hour or so. Eventually realized it was because they were practicing for a flyover for the race event the next day. It was pretty neat. Love the sound they make.

I used to live on the flight path between the stadium and our local AFB. Every Sunday home game I would be shaken out of bed my the sheer ROAR of those jets passing overhead. It was GLORIOUS!

They do it for college too, not just the NFL. My senior year, there was an alum that was some high ranking military officer who was retiring, so he called in all the favors he had left and got a fly over for every home game that year. No better way to wake up on a hungover Friday morning than having jets shaking your house.

I served for over 20 years in the USAF. Many bases are Tasked to do fly overs every Sunday, Monday and Thursday night football game . Even College football will have Flyovers. These Flyovers come out of the Military Training Budget so these flights would happen anyways but they are done for Morale and Recruitment

My dad was a fighter pilot during world war 2, North Africa and Vietnam. He survived them all only to be told his eyesight was too bad to fly. Then he gave up and drank him self to death in 1991. He loved flying more than anything in the world.

This has to be a relatively new thing. I've been to well over a hundred NFL games as a kid in the 70's and 80's and never once saw one. I did see one while swimming at Myrtle Beach years ago. Scared the hell out of me. It was really cool.

Can’t recall being at a game where there was a flyover, but having said that the most recent Super Bowl had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting the Kansas City Chiefs. I live here in Tampa and my house was in the direct flight path of the flyover. Being right in the middle of Raymond James Stadium and MacDill Air Force Base I was watching it on t.v. And heard a roar in the sky and rushed outside and got my very own flyover. Pretty cool.

With the ending note of our National anthem perfectly time flyover it just give you goosebumps it will make the hair on the back your neck stand up and salute and also be thankful to be an American living in the country of the land of the free and the home of the brave and also thankful for all those men and women who decide to serve in our military every day to protect this country that we all love

They do flyovers in normal games. Part of the regularity is if there is a base nearby. The pilots need a certain number of flight hours to keep up their qualifications or whatever, so it serves a couple purposes.

I live in Chico CA where we have a municipal airport. We have a military base 45 minutes south of us and they use our airport as a touch down and take off for round trips back to their home base. My home is in the direct flight and approach for landing and we get these exact military planes coming over us almost daily. Some days the walls of the house vibrate from the air currents that the helicopters create. We even had the Osprey heli come over and boy was that awesome and scary! It feel like these planes are going to crash right into our front room sometimes! The B-52's rumble so loud and that gigantic airbus looks like it is going to fall out of the sky! The F-18's are just plain loud and fast. Once we hear them, by time we run outside to catch a view, they are already dots in the sky!

I found out that I lived due north of Spartan Stadium at Michigan State because I was painfully awoken by 6 F18s flying low 2 miles out-genuinely thought something was crashing or attacking.

You can see them at home opener games when the weather is nice. Near Veterans’ Day (11/11) and Thanksgiving games. Many times it’s the State’s National Guard or Air National Guard that will do it. Needs to be an open stadium or like us, a retractable roof stadium. One year, they were helicopters, and soldiers rappelled down to deliver the game ball.

Don't know if anyone has mention this, but at half time the flight crew is brought onto the field and introduced to the fans. They do that here in Tampa, don't know if done at other stadiums. We do have McDill Air Force base here and a Coast Guard Air Station. Could be why we have so many fly overs for pro and college football games.

Flyovers are used for any opening of a major sporting event, NFL, NASCAR, etc... The only circumstances are it needs to be an open top arena and clear weather. If you get those two, chances are you'll get a flyover.

A flyover can happen at any event at any time. Usually it's a guarantee for a big event though, like Super Bowl any championship in general.

You pretty much got it in the video, but they don't only do them at the Superbowl. They do them pretty regularly throughout the season... and since you're pretty well-versed in college football and how big it is, it probably won't surprise you that at big schools, flyovers are pretty normal also 😂 my college was in the SEC (Southeastern Conference, arguably one of the best in the country) and we weren't even near the best team in the conference and we had flyovers for almost every home game.

My city has alot of bases and it was awesome the first time seeing them fly over at the game. Rip San Diego chargers 😪 We also have airshows which are cool. Once driving, a fighter jet seemed so low because of us seeing, hearing and remaining contrails came over like fog I thought something was wrong. it seemed only 15 feet above us, I'm sure it was many feet higher. A great experience! 🙂

Yeah flyovers can be for the first game of the season or last or anytime really. It’s really awe inspiring. Glad you liked it. We had some Blue Angels practicing around our home near an airport near us for an air show. Those jets are so fast. So much fun to watch. If you can go to an air show do so. Fun!

Doesn't even have to be an NFL game. They do fly-overs at all sorts of games and sporting events. Even enclosed hockey arenas can have fly-overs. I don't think I've been to a single NASCAR or INDY race that didn't have a fly-over on race day. We've got an air museum nearby as well, so some times we get some classic warbirds involved.

Hi Beesley! You should react to the Blue Angels. They are amazing and the maneuvers are incredible. My father and I had a yearly tradition going to the Air Shows that would star the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds.

Here in Phoenix Arizona, Luke Air Force Base is only around 4 miles from the Arizona Cardinals Stadium. I retired out of Luke AFB in 2001

I’ve seen two or three flyovers in giants stadium.

Sometimes they have a person parachute into the stadium. Also release eagles that fly around stadium back to the person that let it go.

there types fly overs. there is one fly over most heart tugging sadly moment.. if you decide to watch an American football game, one day. they have a fly over. if yous ever see a fighter jet leaves the formation in middle of the fly over and moving straight up. its call "the Missing Man" its to honor of our fallen solders, that are either still Missing in action or those to lost their lives in war to protect our country. Also they been doing that for Sept 11th and now sadly to say, for all those lost their lives from this virus. basically: it's a symbols that the person has either move on up to heavens (if you believe that) or they're still missing but never forgotten.

During 911 after all commercial jets were grounded in North America the only jets were Air Force Fighter Jets flying over the city in NYC. Those pilots may not have known where they were supposed to go but it was reassuring to the shocked people on the ground.

Doesn't the RAF fly over soccer games regularly? Flyovers are basically not just for big games, However there is an aircraft that can often signify a flagship game that day and that is the Goodyear Blimp.

It's cool that NASCAR also sees flyovers. I think the only times is actually makes sense is when games are played outdoors. The only sports I would like to see them only do it is with NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA and NFL.

The Blue Angels do an air show every year in Chicago. They practice for several days before the show. It's so cool to see the Blue Angels practicing over Chicago!

Still to this day have never gotten to see a flyover in a game stadium (Mainly because I grew up in a pretty poor family and the only parent in my family that cared for us really was and is mom, and I was going to go to a game in the earlier 2010s with my grandfather, but he passed away before we got the chance). Never have seen one in a stadium... But... They were doing flight drills by my college, so we got to watch them in the open. It is just something else.

The Americans perform these flyovers with many different military aircraft for many different sporting events. Some intentionally fly slow, some fast, but none of that ist relevant. The flyover itself und what it means to the Americans ist most important them. :-) Auf Wiedersehen :-)

I experienced a fly over in 2010 when I went to the Arizona Cardinals stadium at the time for a wrestling event called wrestlemania and the fly over happened with these fighter jets and it was extremely loud and unexpected for me being 11 years old at the time but was really amazing watching it back when I bought the dvd years later for that wrestlemania event as well !!!

Some of my friends hate flyovers because they see them as US Military propaganda. I disagree... I mean, not about there being government propaganda but I just don't see how the flyover is one of their tactics. It's just fun, that's all really. Expensive fun indeed but man, having seen a few myself it's dope!
