For the defensive stats you gotta keep in mind that LSU played 7 top ten teams that season and still never lost a game.

There are some highlight videos that are a bit more dynamic. There were many more high draft picks from that team that weren't eligible yet. Ja'marr Chase, Derek Stingley Jr. etc.

Not sold on this creator for future videos, but always enjoy some college football content. That LSU team had an amazing offense. I wouldn't say they're the greatest team ever though. Hard to argue against those early 00s Miami teams

This was such a special team. You should check out LSU’s weekly hype videos for this season. The swag that this team had was unbelievable and those hype videos were top notch!

If you guys ever make it to the US during football season, I recommend Tiger Stadium. If you can get a night game even better, but Tiger Stadium is a special place to watch a game, and the tailgating is also excellent.

that dance is like a classic pump up thing in football. No clue where it originates but its very common to do some kind of "dance" before running out on the field

that dance that damo asked about is widely used In Football, both college and nfl. Everyone involved leans side to side in unison and usually chanting something. It’s used as a team bonding moment and to hype up the players for the upcoming moment. (For example my very mediocre high school team used to do it. When we sway left we yell; “they can’t stop us” and when we sway right we yell “we will win”. Repeatedly and faster as our movement speed increase. The result is a loud “they can’t stop us, we will win” chant. And once we were going fast enough that we couldn’t keep up? We would rush out the tunnel onto the field ready for battle.

Great Reaction, Boys. This LSU team is considered one of the greatest college football team ever. NO ONE will EVER be better than the 2001 Miami Hurricanes. The greatest collection of talent ever assembled . 38 players drafted off that team, including 17 of those being first round picks. NFL Hall Of Famers and Pro Bowl players were all over that roster. Including Ed Reed, Frank Gore, and Andre Johnson. Young guys, Devin Hester and Sean Taylor (RIP) were back-ups. There are 3 documentaries made about that team. Gotta check them out.

This is one of the greatest college teams of all time. But hands down the absolute best if 2001 Miami hurricanes. Of the 22 starters, 19 were drafted. 38 player total from that team went on to the nfl. Including FOUR running backs 😮 13 different players off that college team went in to make the nfl pro bowl, totaling 48 total appearances. Jamarr chase, WR from that 2019 team. Was drafted by the bengals the year after they drafted joe. So now they are lighting up the NFL together the same way they did college!

This was during my freshman year at LSU, and my god, this has to be one of the most stacked teams ever. We set records for the most Ranked wins, Top 10 Wins, Top 5 wins, Points in a bowl game, etc, etc

For Jefferson and Chase, Jefferson was exclusively used in the slot on that 2019 team so there were some questions about his ability to play outside against top corners at the NFL level in his draft year. He was still viewed as a really good prospect, but was ultimately drafted 22nd in 2020. Chase on the other hand consistently went up against top corners in college and ended up being selected 5th overall in 2021. So basically this was the best college offense of all time, yet they may have actually been underutilizing Jefferson, which is crazy to think about. He had absolutely zero issue lining up outside to take on top corners at the NFL level, even though he didn't do it at all in 2019. Not sure why this video is making him out to be anything less than the best receiver in football in the NFL. Most consider him the best or at the least top 3 whereas Chase is right up there top 5ish as well.

This video is old. Jamar Chase went to the NFL draft in 2021 and was also picked up by the Bengals. They've been on a tear killing it in the NFL.

I am pretty sure that the Alabama offense the next year had better offensive stats in most categories than this LSU team and yes that is justin Jefferson who is now on the Vikings

Because LSU played an ineligible player. LSU underwent a postseason ban during the 2020-21 season, a reduction in eight football scholarships from 2021 to 2022, a $5,000 fine including 0.5% of its average football budget and vacated any wins that ineligible athletes competed in from 2012 to 2016. No evidence of anything else was found during the investigation into the football program. The investigation was triggered by audio recordings of the basketball coach talking about paying players on an FBI wiretap.

And the number one overall pick, Hugh Green, was from that team but had a serious knee injury his first year in the pros. The team also had perrenial Pro Bowl lineman, Mark May and another first rounder in RB Randy McMillan who also had an injury shortened career. So who did LSU have that we think is going to be in the HoF? But maybe all I need to say is they had Marino, right?

I would argue 2001 miami. They were stacked with guys like ed reed, sean taylor, andre johnson, whillis McGhee, clinton portis, frank gore, vince wilfork. defeated Nebraska, 37-14, to win the school's 5th national championship. Eventually producing a record 38 NFL Draft picks, the 2001 Hurricanes are considered by many to be the best college football team of all time.

Like he said it. Any attempt to put a "best ever" label on a college football team, HAS TO be qualified with an "arguably" adjective. With the different conferences playing their own schedules, and having a 140 year history, there really isn't a way to prove a greatest team ever. I know you guys understand this.

That injury to Burrrow (ACL) was a couple of years ago. He came back last year and did great.

This video didn’t exactly do it justice. Yeah, he covered the stats and awards, but you have to see the plays to fully appreciate how good that team was. Also, the defense got a bad rap for being ranked 31st in scoring, but it didn’t tell the whole story. Following their week 2 match against Texas, 6 of the 11 defensive starters were out due to injury for up to 5 weeks. People give LSU fans hell about giving up 38 points to Vanderbilt, but don’t realize LSU was up 59-17 late into the 3rd quarter when they began unloading the bench. Vanderbilt scored a couple garbage time TDs on the 3s and 4s. Against Oklahoma, LSU was up 49-7 at halftime. Against Alabama, they were up 33-13 at halftime. The defense wasn’t bad at all. They faced some of the fiercest competition throughout the season.

Not an LSU tradition usually when the team was swaying side to side they were playing swag surfin in the stadium hence the dance.

This was the best season ever. LOL.., I’ll never forget watching that Texas game and when Burrow converted on 3rd and 17, I just knew it. I wouldn’t say it outloud until they beat Bama bc I was scared I would jinx it, but I just sort of knew right then, this team is winning the national championship. And yes, that was Justin Jefferson. The defense was actually great. But, it was so wild bc LSU had always been known as a defense powerhouse, there was a really old school ground and pound offense, and then 2019 happened. probably the best college football team of all time with a trio of Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, and Jamar Chase definitely one of the best offensive, Justin Jefferson broke the rookie receiving yards record for a rookie and then the next year Jamar Chase broke it ( and also won rookie of the year)and him and Joe Burrow have already taken the bangles from the worst team in football too the super bowl once and AFC championship twice and Joe Burrow is a top 3 QB ( 2nd) and both Jamar (6th) and Jefferson (4th) are regarded as top 5 WRs and joe burrow is the only QB in NFL history to beat Patrick Mahoms in there first 3 games against each other!

The consensus top 5 wide receivers in the NFL are Jefferson,Chase,Kupp,Hill, and Adams. Jefferson is consensus #1 while the other 4 are usually a toss up. This team had both chase and Jefferson with joe burrow as their quarterback, and the best offensive line in the nation. That’s how you get the best offense of all time. Not to mention Clyde edwards helaire or Terrence Marshall who r both solidified NFL players too.

Hard to say if they the best team of all time because of the different era because the styles have changed over the years *Miami in early 00's were loaded but the game was slower paced then.

What's intersting about Joe Burrow is that he was from Ohio and played first for the Ohio State Buckeyes, but they were so stacked with talented QBs that he transferred to LSU. When he was drafted by the Cinicinnati Bengals it was a homecoming to his native Ohio which is one of the reasons he is so beloved there. Hoepfully the Bengals will want to keep him adn wille extend his next contract. That's between him and the Bengals ownership. Right now he is one of the highest paid QBs in the NFL.

Miami scored 42 and only gave up 9.7 Sorry LSU fans but that Miami team had so much talent and depth of talent it makes it hard to imagine any team competing with them. If they had a top tier QB that team may have been able to beat a really bad NFL team (0-16 lions or bears I'm not crazy)

Defense didn’t seem too good because they played and beat almost exclusively top 10 teams. They are the best college football team EVER. PERIOD. Because of the level of competition they played against. Also almost every individual award for a particular position I.e. for WR, RB, coach, offensive line, and the Heisman for the best individual player was won by an LSU player or group of players.

This team was so damn good. Burrow had one of the best seasons of any college qb, and the weapons of Chase and Jefferson among many others was just unstoppable. Was obviously disappointed that Clemson did not beat them in the national championship but LSU was just the better team that year. Like another comment said I would have loved to see the 2018 Clemson team play that 2019 LSU, the 2018 Clemson defense was way better than the 2019 defense and may have been able to slow them down more. 2019 LSU definitely deserves all the hype for this season. As a Bengals fan too so happy to have Burrow and Chase with us.

The best college team of all-time is the 2001 University of Miami Hurricanes. That team was ridiculously stacked. The LSU team was good, but the Canes were better and it's not close. Does anybody remember when the Miami hurricanes won almost 3 titles in a row never losing a game in 2000, 2001, and only losing a game in 2002 national championship. And if you how many nfl stars they had from those teams is kind of ridiculous. Lsu was good but I don't know if best ever.
