Given the history between LSU and Alabama (two founding members of the SEC), the word “hate” doesn’t begin to describe what these two programs and fanbases feel for one another. The vitriol is palpable. Even if two fans bump into each other at the store wearing those shirts, they’ll let each other know what they think of the other team. Either fanbase would be totally fine if the other one completely fell off the face of the Earth. Absolutely, Auburn-Alabama (The Iron Bowl) is Bama’s #1 rivalry because it’s in-state, but there’s something different about the LSU-Bama rivalry. It’s bloodthirsty and never pretty. Geaux Tigers!

Need to see the reaction for THE REAL GAME OF THE CENTURY. Between LSU and Alabama in 2011. It was 1 vs 2 and everybody knew that the winner was locked in for the national championship
@drewhunt22
@drewhunt22 Жыл бұрын
19:32 The reason you watch Alabama lose so often is because it doesn’t happen very often (they’re 187-21 and 6 National Championships in the last 15 years). When they lose, it’s usually close, and it’s usually the pinnacle of the opposing team’s season. It almost feels like a championship in and of itself for a team. So naturally, those games are going to be voted on pretty favorably in most of your polls.

LSU and Bama are a “new” rivalry in the SEC. Both are in the SEC west so they play each other every year. Nick Saban, the current Bama coach won a national championship with lsu in 2005. Both are known for amazing defences. In 2012 they played a nail biting 9-6 OT game. Despite being in the same division of the same conference they were selected as the numbers 1 and 2 programs in the country and played for the nationsl championship, where Bama got revenge and won, actually scoring a touchdown. Both programs have been factories for the NFL. A great rivalry. Bama has dominated it except the two games you’ve watched. Lol. Great reaction guys.

There was also Jahmyr Gibbs (selected by the Lions and they got shit on for it), Will Anderson (3rd overall pick to the Texans) and I'm sure a good amount of other NFL players on the Alabama roster, as there always is. As far as rivalries go, to understand it, just look up the SEC West conference. Pretty much every team there will be a rival to Alabama - also, look at them on a map. They are all in a fairly close proximity compared to the size of the US.

Bryce Young was a Heisman Winner - the first Bama Heisman QB, I believe. He was an incredible QB, that’s just our boy Harold Perkins being Harold Perkins. That’s a true freshman! He’s dominant af. His ball awareness and explosive speed is off the charts. This game was insane. The turnaround that team made from the year prior - so, 2019 was probably the best team ever. 2020 LSU was rough bc 14 players went to the NFL. 2021 was awful though. We fired the coach, barely made a bowl. I remember going to the bowl game and we didn’t even have a qb, barely had enough players eligible. So, the new coach built this team over 4 months. Jayden Daniels had an incredible turn-around from the first few games, and every week things just started clicking a little more. There have definitely been LSU teams with better records, but this one will always be near to my heart bc they fought back through so much. To beat Bama with a new coach. I can’t wait for SEC football to be back. 64 days until LSU vs Florida State!!

Commenting on LSU's ability to stop Alabama near the endzone. Its more to do with the style of offenses both teams run, which is a spread offense where they use a lot of Wide Receivers and make the defense cover the field more horizontally based off their pre snap alignments. Alabama specifically calls a lot of deep plays to force the defense to cover vertically as well. They had a lot of success on offense with these plays until they got inside the 20-10 yard line. Because of the condensed field near the endzone, LSU didnt have to worry about getting beat by a deep play and was able to focus on what Bama wanted to run bc of their lack of options. Its actually the deciding factor of the game bc LSU was able to convert on short fields for TDs while Bama was settling for field goals. LSU focus on offense was more on attacking Bama HORIZONTALLY bc there Quarterback has less arm talent but is an extreme threat to run the ball. This approach to offensive play calling bodes well in the Redzone but you will tend to give up the ability on long plays unless one of the ballcarriers makes a defender miss a tackle in open field.

Fun note guys: LSU QB and Bryce Young of bama grew up playing against each other since they were kids in California. You guys were mentioning how lsu qb's late 4th plays were a response to young's plays. They still remain in touch since going to college. I will state this, Young is not a mobile qb as Tua, Hurts, and Lamar Jackson. He can be shifty in the pocket and scrambe to outside but not known as a runner. LSU Qb is known to be a run first which was an issue for LSU for their first 4 games of the season. For this game, he looked to pass then run. Big improvement and cant wait to see what he does in 2023. Geaux tigers, beat bama!!!

Went to this incredible game on Saturday night only to go to the Saints-Ravens game on Monday night. It’s mixed emotions when you pay to watch LSU win and then pay to watch the Saints lose. Still a great time in the Big Easy. NOLA for life!

@@capt.obvious9315 2020 Alabama objectively had a better season by every measurable. they went undefeated, had better offensive numbers than LSU, and played a 10-game all-SEC schedule with no Vanderbilt or OOC cupcakes like LSU had. the only reason people disregard it is because it was the covid year.

Yeah, with all the success Alabama has enjoyed in the last 15 years(and in the 60's/70's), any loss is seen by the masses as "great". Not to take away from this game. If I were not a Bama fan, I am certain I would have enjoyed it more. Alabama vs LSU is a rivalry although it is not the historic rivalry of a Alabama/Auburn, Alabama/Tennessee or a LSU/Ole Miss. It became a lot more heated after the former LSU championship winning coach(LSU won the national title with him in 2003) Nick Saban, left the NFL's Miami Dolphins to come back to being a college head coach at A;abama(where he has won 6 national titles so far). Alabama(86 active players) and LSU(71 active players) are the top two teams in number of active NFL players. Ohio State(70 active players) is right behind LSU.

About that fumble that Alabama initially lost but the call was overturned because the fumbler touched the ball on the ground while the player was touching the out of bounds area. That rule is the same as in rugby. If a player is first touching out of bounds and then touches the ball (even if the ball is still in bounds), the play is dead and the ball is considered to have gone out of bounds. This is also relevant on kickoffs (kickoffs only, not punts) where the kicking team is not allowed to kick the ball out of bounds before someone touches the ball. If they do, the receiving team gets the ball at their own 35-yard line (or where the ball went out if that's better) which gives them good field position to start. Players in the past have stood out of bounds and reached back in field from out of bounds to touch or catch the balls on kickoffs to get better field position; much like rugby players keep a foot out of bounds to have a ball go out on the full to get a lineout back at the spot of the kick. Y'all keep watching Alabama lose because most people like watching Alabama lose. As a UConn basketball fan, I don't like it, but it is definitely a thing. You did get to watch the Tua game though. They won that one.

alabama games are only considered "good" when we lose. if you want to see good bama games that we won, check out 2015 bama vs clemson (national championship), 2017 bama vs georgia (also national championship), 2018 bama vs georgia (sec championship), 2014 bama vs auburn (year after the kick six), 2021 bama vs auburn, or 2012 bama georgia (sec championship). out of all these games i think the 2015 bama clemson is the best and harris highlights has a great highlight video of it (it's labeled 2016 since the game happened in 2016 though it was for the 2015 season)

I am a huge LSU fan and grad. My little brother actually played for LSU in 90s. I actually had a buddy give me seats about 20 rows up from game winning TD as we were in town for a class reunion. But I was dealing with chemo and thought it just might be too much. (Plus I live in bama and obviously expected to lose a heart wrenching game to them like we had 6 out of last 7 or something like that. I couldn’t take another loss like that.) Worse game decision ever in the history of an LSU fan. Pretty sure I would have been morocco secure if I went to the game. Or even if I died their in the stands it would have been so worth it. Geaux Tigers and Geaux Gunners.
