The Conservative leader is always voted in by Conservative party members, which is about 160000 people. They didn't vote in Theresa May because the rest of the candidates for leadership were awful and got knocked out for various reasons and she was the only one left standing. None of the tory PMs have lasted for the whole 5 year term. They've been awful. I hope the tory members who voted for Boris and truss suffer because the damage they've inflicted on the majority of the country is absolutely phenomenal. We've essentially had austerity for 12 years. In the middle of a cost of living crisis they decided to give the wealthy even more while there would be cuts to public services and cuts to benefits including working tax credits. Telling us that the economy is messed up is because people aren't working hard enough while giving an unfunded tax cuts to the rich. They're always terrible with the economy. It's a myth that they've ever been good with it.

But this report doesn't mention that the final crisis which triggered Ms. Truss's resignation was a rebellion by many Tory MPs over her effort to permit fracking. It had been part of the Conservative platform to disallow fracking, and now Truss was pulling out all the stops to allow it, subject to the approval of local communities. Even the PBS News Hour did not cover this fact. Does this reflect the influence of oil and gas interests in the U.S.? Probably so.

Since then they've been trying to sell the myth that Brexit is good for us (Its not , its disastrous). However, were there a binding referendum tomorrow, whilst it would be close, I doubt leave (ie remain outside the EU) would command even a simple majority. If you think Ms Truss is feeling useless, imagine how those who lost against her must be evaluating themselves. After endless rounds of voting and much chin-stroking, the Tories eventually decided that Ms Truss was the ideal candidate for Prime Minister. I'm still baffled as to which of her various talents caused the Conservative Party members to choose her. Was it her spellbinding oratory skills? Her magnetic charm? Or her absolute wizardry with the economy? Her only talent seems to be the ability to enter a crowded room and give the immediate impression that someone has just walked out. Six weeks later, they realise she's a disaster.... So, apparently, was their own political acumen.

In fact it is you who shows a complete lack of understanding of British polls, Katy Kay is a renown commentator of global politics for the BBC for many years, she is of course referencing the current BBC poll to which a 10 percent advantage to Labour, the Guardian poll to which you refer is taken from the readers of the Guardian newspaper which in the UK is a Labour supporter, again, the other stats you mention are from the same publication and were from a random poll of 12000 people. I suggest that you read more and comment less as you only demonstrate a rudimentary knowledge of UK politics.
