A lot of time has passed in the meantime. What the two founders Gerrit and Frederick Braun have created is huge. Over 400 people now work there and they are currently looking for more employees. Both Hamburg (home of Miniatur Wunderland) and other sections in Germany have been expanded or modernised. For example, the Elbphilarmonie - Germany's most expensive concert hall in model size. Venice, Italy such as St Peter's Basilica or the Colosseum, an amusement park, Rio de Janeiro, Monaco or Provence and Patagonia have now been added. Miniatur Wunderland has the concept of "open building sites". This means that you can even follow the construction of the individual new sections. The individual model systems: model building, model railway, car system, the airport, ship control, or the animatronics, e.g. the action buttons. Or, most recently, the Monaco Formula 1 system. MW is currently also working on Formula 1 in Monaco. Realistic Formula 1 races will be shown there on a very well-known circuit, with overtaking manoeuvres, pit stops, etc. There is also a separate project in which you can move through the wonderland in miniature using VR glasses. Last but not least, there has recently been a cinema film in Germany showing the development of the MW. James Bray, a very well-known American YTuber, makes a lot of content about Germany and also visited Miniatur Wunderland in one of his latest videos.

So far it has cost 36 million euros to build the Wunderland.

The movie is outdated, i.e. ten years old. Now the Wunderland is about 40% bigger 😍🤩

Can you imagine going to the banker with this idea and convincing him to take out a loan? Good for us that he believed in success and made it possible.

Die Brüder haben vorher einen Club / Diskothek betrieben. Diese wurde dann verkauft und davon wurden die ersten Investition getätigt.

@@rainerknuth Irgendwo hat einer von ihnen erzählt wie er mit der Ide zur Bank gegangen ist um sich einen Kredit zu für den Start zu hohlen, wie er einen Plan aufgeschrieben hat um den Bänker zu überzeugen. Ich kann dir leider nicht sagen in welcher Doku das war, ist auch schon einige Jahre her.

The banker was convinced but his boss wasn't. But thanks to that banker he skipped his boss and went to the next higher ups. And they approved it.

@@rainerknuth schon aber das hat bei weitem nicht gereicht. Aus den ursprünglich kalkulierten 300 - 400.000 Mark sind 2 Millionen geworden, die Herr Neuendorf von der Sparkasse dann trotz der Absage seines Chefs durchgeboxt hat. Jochen, der Vater, war noch wegen der Verteilung des Risikos an Board hat aber nicht wirklich mitgemacht. Ab und an ist er noch für Sonderaktionen am Start oder wenn wieder einer ein 10 Jähriges oder 20 Jähriges Jubiläum hat.

England got cancelled after 'Brexit'! Another win for the 'morons'. At the last count, the staffing was up to 350 and Monaco Grand Prix is working. Worth a trip to Hamburg just see this (allow at least 3 days) although the food and beer at nearby Landungsbruecken is an extra inducement.

Not really "canceled", more like "delayed" in favor of South America. And the staff is now at around 450-460 people, including the VR attraction "Yullbe".

You have no clue what the reason for Brexit was ... and calling them "morons" only shows your ignorance. The EU is basically the "Warsaw Pact 2.0" ... and the MEDDLING in eastern europe (which was part of the reason for the war) is a sure sign of it.

Sie haben allen Anschein nach einem ähnlichen Problem wie die Britische Gemeinschaft. Auch sie leiden an eine falsche Einschätzung ihrer Fähigkeiten. Aber in GB wurde von einer Mehrheit der Wahlberechtigten beschlossen die EU zu verlassen. Und das ist das Recht eines souveränen Volkes. Ob diese Entscheidung nun richtig war oder nicht wird die Zeit zeigen. Derzeit bereuen immer mehr der Wähler ihre Entscheidung, da sie wohl nicht ganz ehrlich informiert wurden. Aber wie auch derzeit in Deutschland und auch anderen Ländern glauben viele Versprechungen, die nicht haltbar sind. Aber es ist ja immer der Wunsch nach einem besseren Leben dafür verantwortlich das viele es nicht hinterfragen. Nur ob man andere die eine andere Meinung vertreten als Idioten zu bezeichnen halte ich nicht nur als unangepasste Beleidigung und falsch. Aber das ist halt die so genannte deutsche Leitkultur. Ich kann mich nur fremd schämen für eine solche Äußerung.
