This song is powerfully emotional, I reacted the same as you did when I first heard it. This song was released in 1985 and was taken from the Falklands War. It tells the story of a soldier who is wounded and knows he is going to die. VERSE 1: talks about how he going to be buried in mountains even though his home was in the lowlands. VERSE 2 : though wounded his brother-in arms did not leave him. VERSE 3; talks about are different cultures in are one world and we should not kill our brothers-in -arms. The harmonies are just outstanding and I love how they made the sounds of a church pipe organ seem so real. This has become one of Home Free’s signature songs, truely outstanding. Thank you for your reaction and have a great day

Mr Taylor, very good to see you back with Home Free. We told ya, Brothers in Arms was special. It just proves the talent these men have & that they love their craft. I've got 4 songs on my Home Free list for ya....1) One-Man Band (very uplifting song about not being alone) 2) Heaven (Kane Brown cover) a song about the love you have for your partner, 3) Dreamer, Live at the Ryman featuring Texas Hill (an original by Home Free) & finally 4) Dive Bar Saints - another original written directly for them by their friend, Arliss Allbritton, a well known Nashville songwriter, that has been a Grammy nominee...have fun with those...I think you'll enjoy, especially Dreamer because it's a live performance in front of about 5,000 fans in a theater.

This wonderful song is a total MASTERPIECE! It was written and sang by Dire Straits. In my opinion, Tim Foust is the best all around singer in HOMEFREE. With a 5 octave range, he can make his bass and tenor sound equally beautiful! I absolute love his voice and overall sound. Anyone usually can spot him, right from the first syllable of the first word that he utters! Of course, he is spectacular! I really like "My Maria", with Austin Brown. If you haven't heard it, you really should. I agree, I think "Brothers In Arms" is one of the most powerful songs that HOMEFREE has done! By the way, Tim is an absolutely wonderful songwriter. HOMEFREE has sung and recorded many of his songs and others have also recorded much of his work! He is such an all around great musician; need I say more! Everyone in the group is spectcular, but Tim just stands out to me! Great song; great singers!!! Dire Straits sang it wonderfully, but HOMEFREE put their own twist to it and turned it into a masterpiece; making it their own!

This song was inspired by the Falklands War, which was going on when Dire Straits lead singer Mark Knopfler wrote the song. The Falklands War was a conflict between Argentina and the UK over islands off the coast of Argentina that each country claimed rights to. The islands are British territories, but in 1982 Argentina tried to reclaim one of the islands. Britain reclaimed their territories, but lost 258 soldiers in the conflict. In this song, Mark Knopfler sings about a soldier who is dying on the battlefield, surrounded by his comrades, who remain by his side as he slips away.

Yes, this version of Home Free will send shivers through your entire body! This is so emotional, especially with what is happening in Ukraine. Beautifully sung by Tim and Chance, but the background and harmony of Adam, Rob and Austin is also so beautiful. It looks like a choir or actually a kind of church organ sounds. And the whole setting of the video is just amazing. Simple but with so many details that makes it so profound

Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥

THANK YOU so very much for reacting to this one!! With all that is happening in Ukraine right now, this reaction couldn't have been done at a better time. I also want to thank you for not only analyzing the performance from a musicality standpoint, but also from how the lyrics are making us feel. LOVED your reaction to this hauntingly beautiful song & your comments about Home Free.😊 Their never "overdoing" their performances is one of the many things that makes them different from the other a cappella groups. They don't try to outdo each other! Another special thing about them is that even when they're all singing together, you can hear each of their voices separately! They're just so talented but humble & kind!😊

I've heard this dozens of time now, and it makes me cry every time. Powerful song, powerful words...masterfully sung by HF. You are right - they were smart to not get fancy and just let the power of the song and the message shine through. Sadly such a pertinent message right now as war rages in Europe. May I recommend "Unchained Melody" next? I looked through your list and you don't appear to have covered that one yet and it's a fairly new release. Another example of the guys going back to the root meaning of a song and getting it "just right."

They did a great job, no doubt. I love the statement of theirs that you read before the reaction. It rings absolutely true. That being said although they are extremely talented I do still prefer the original Dire Straights version. The lead singer wrote the song and I believe was born in Scotland and raised in England, so I'm guessing that the verse "but my home is the lowlands and forever will be" Is from his perspective. It was written in 1982 during the Falklands War.
