A collaboration between British muzzle loaders and Gun Jesus would be fun and educational watch you two square off in the deadly Canadian Brutality of polite Doom. And a Collab with lindybeige would be fun also he could wear his WW1 British army uniform and you guys could discuss WW1 or 2 history and tactics.

I love your dry Canadian wit, and the use of British Columbian terrain. Your videos are well done, well researched, and efficiently produced historical material relating to my fields of research in the writing of my own historical fiction. So much has been written and produced on Ross rifles that I find your videos informative, and easily digested. Well done!

In WWI the drill instructors were amazed at how far and how accurately my grandfather could throw a grenade. They were not impressed by his tendency to argue with them. Thankfully by the time he finished training the war was nearly over.

What a wonderful video, Rob! You've really outdone yourself in setting the experience. Well done. I especially liked seeing the underhand bomb throw--very common where there are branches to catch the bombs and drop them down on the thrower. I confess I was surprised by how much of a bang you got with the rock, however--Canadian rocks are certainly dangerous! The telegraphing of the bayonet was particularly interesting; it presages the room clearing techniques of the modern infantry.

Rob, this was an incredibly well-done video. You did demonstrate that the SMLE is a better rifle for trench battles than the Ross - but only by virtue of that 10 round magazine (and reliability, but your video didn't go there).

The whistle blast was an homage to all the lads who went over the top. Weight is an issue because a soldier carries his rifle far more than he fires it. I'd rather have two extra grenades than a heavier rifle. The whole subject whilst fascinating is moot as the SMLE was the operational choice for many reasons. Another great short film Rob, many thanks.

Great episode BM. Excellent going to the effort on the course and the comparison. Interesting - this is the first episode of yours that I can recall where you went "out of character" when discussing the points of the rifles. I thought that was great.

I know it's a pain to set that up and take it down. But I would love to see a similar course run with some of the other rifles of WW1. I really enjoyed your conclusions not being the traditional ones, I've heard parroted again and again.

It was a fun project and sure would it be fun to put other rifles through the course.... But you'll find those videos over on Germanmuzzleloaders.... 🙂

@@SlavicCelery That's very kind. I'm not much to "fangirl" out to though... 🙂 Just interested in the history, that's all. Glad you are enjoying the Channel!
