Group of shipyard workers stand around as if a ship is about to be launched. Pan to large ship in river - the 'County Clare'. A large crane moves forwards to continue work on the ship as it move to dock. Various shots of tugs moving ship around.
Modern concrete built Shopping precinct with goods in windows. Colour Televisions on sale. reel to reel tape records on sale.
VS Ext. Modern tower block building. There are several blocks in the area.
GV dock / ship building area - The hull of the 'County Clare' lays in the River..

As an update 2 massive new film studios are to built taking in the site of Doxfords and extending all the way along the Wear to the site of the Hylton paper mill by Claxheugh Rock. The erecting sheds at Doxfords will be retained.

The last of the great decades of Sunderland , The 1970's were my 10-20 years of life , Loved them , loved the town , wtf happened ?😥

The writing has been on the wall since the late 1800s when Germany and the USA overtook us and the Empire became more of a burden than a money maker. British industry started to go into decline back then and was accelerated by two world wars. We didn't grasp the nettle and didn't adjust. Just clung to the past. As a result, places like Sunderland lost their reason to exist.

@@th8257 my grandfather used to tell me when i was young , he had to relocate from Devon to Sunderland because following the First world war , Britain took its war debt from Germany in Shipping tonnage ? Which had the obvious effect on British Shipbuilding

The launch of County Clare at Pickersgill's was in 1970. Can't say anything about the rest of the video
