BRITISH PATHÉ'S STORY
Before television, people came to movie theatres to watch the news. British Pathé was at the forefront of cinematic journalism, blending information with entertainment to popular effect. Over the course of a century, it documented everything from major armed conflicts and seismic political crises to the curious hobbies and eccentric lives of ordinary people. If it happened, British Pathé filmed it.
Now considered to be the finest newsreel archive in the world, British Pathé is a treasure trove of 85,000 films unrivalled in their historical and cultural significance.

Don't we all remember the year 2000, when mankind used these impeccable machines. Life was just so easy. Now look at us! I'm having to open my own champagne bottle (shortly after breakfast) with my bare hands and then continue to do the painstaking, strenuous and, not to mention, tedious task of pouring said bottle myself. What has the world come to?! #bringback2000.

@donkmeister
@donkmeister 5 жыл бұрын
From the context, I'd say it was a rag-mag. Rag week (yes, we really call it that) is a week each year when British students engage in fundraising activities. One tradition of rag week (stop giggling) is writing and publishing a rag-mag, which is a compendium of funny articles, poems, short stories, jokes etc put together by some of the students and sold with the proceeds going to the cause.

We read it ! also there’s the pink elephant experiment where one stares at a cross on a green elephant for 30 seconds then when one looks away at a white surface , a pink elephant is visible . An experiment to show how light wavelengths on eye cone cells work . But that said Viz was a far more entertaining rag.

@@Mr.1.i. Actually...... Humm! The instances of recorded encounters and sittings with strange flying objects and phenomena dates all the way back to the middle ages and even further back in time. Julius Obsequens a Roman writer who lived in the middle of the fourth century recorded accounts of strange objects, flying through the air about 400 years before his time. In January 25 of 1878 John Martin a local farmer mentioned a strange balloon flying at "wonderful speeds" which from his perspective resembled a saucer. An just like that, history is covered with many anecdotes and stories about the phenomena.

@@Mr.1.i . Well it's hard to say, even the Romans and the Greeks talk about things in the future and wonderful strange civilizations across the ocean sea. They even mentioned about long lost civilizations who had more advanced technologies than theirs. In the same breath they also make mention and recorded cases and events of strange things happening in the heavens. Even the Bible is full of many recorded such cases, even as far as to mention encounters with these beings, "Book of Genesis". But who cares about all these stuff, I rather go down to Carnival in Rio and Samba.... É hora de carnaval, filho ....... hahahaha!
