The two steaks were both ribeyes. One on the rib bone, and one with the bone removed. Most steak houses will recommend medium rare to medium. Many restaurants have disclaimers that they are not responsible for steaks ordered well done.

When I lived in SE Asia & the UK, I always ordered my steak medium well or well done & smothered it with steak sauce (or ketchup). Not until I moved to the US and was exposed to high-quality/well-prepared steak did I switch to medium-rare.

They are at the TASTE OF TEXAS restaurant in Houston Texas at 10505 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 7702 My family is from Texas and that restaurant is famous for their incredible steaks I amazing sides. That thing that Fats thought was a shrimp is really a stuffed jalapeno pepper that we call JALAPENO POPPERS. They are very addictive. Once you start to eat them it takes definite will power to stop!!! If you have ever have the frozen ones they are nothing like them at the restaurant. Just wanted to help you guys.

Jalepeno poppers are halved jalepenos stuffed with creamcheese and either wrapped in bacon or battered and fried. When fried they look like butterfly shrimp. Very easy to make at home in the oven. And depending on the quality of steak, usually medium-rare is the suggested but of course you can pick whatever you want although connoisseurs will think "what a waste" if you ask for well done. (although for cheap/questionable cuts well done is probably the smarter option) And some cuts are terribly tough and need to be slow cooked to become tender (like brisket).

I was born and raised in Arlington, Texas, which is the suburb of Dallas, Texas, and all the people that I know when we order steak we tell the server just knock its horns off, wipe its ass and throw it on a plate

Everyone has their own preference. There is no standard steak way that people have it here in Texas. Rare, Medium Rare, Medium, Medium Well, Well done. I've never been out and seen people all have the same way people have their steak.

I like my steaks medium. When I was young, I preferred well done, then later moved to medium well, now just medium. When ordering at a restaurant, you tell them how you want it cooked, and they will try to cook it to your preference. ❤

In the US we are just overrun with the amount of cattle. normally beef is pretty reasonable.

Rare steaks every time for me. As a FYI those types of steaks can be found all over the US in any city. I live in a small city with a population of 40K that's 10mins away from a city that's 650K. Both have delicious steaks readily available.

Don't you remember Pulp Fiction? "How do you want your steak, Bloody as Hell or Burnt to a Crisp?" Most of us consider medium rare as the most tasty while the next most popular being medium. Almost all that prefer medium or well done always accompany their preference with a remark about not being able to stand the sight of blood on their plate. As long as mine is red/pink and warm-to hot in the middle I'm good. Key Lime pie is subtle. Pecan is sweet and savory and if done properly is the absolute best pie ever concocted.

I’m a Texas gal, I always like Medium Rare steak because it’s tender and juicy. There is a preference that goes by how cooked that you want the steak to be: Rare, Medium Rare, Medium and Well Done. I love the Brit Brothers. I have watched their videos a lot. They sure have a great sense of humor! 😁

people dont understand just how big the us is. I live in new york on the west side of the state and its about 400 miles(650km) to nyc. you can visit some states and spend a month exploring if you research the area well or know someone.

The cook on the steak depends on the cut, and how fatty/ lean it is. A rib eye as these are, contains more fat, therefore you can cook it more and still retain the juiciness/ tenderness. A filet mignon is extremely lean, so there's less forgiveness the more you cook it with it drying out and becoming tough. Personally, I think you should order your steak however you enjoy it the most. I do rib eye medium rare (so as the fat is more enjoyable, and renders into almost pure "steak butter", and a filet rare.) However, I will state... If a steak is ordered cooked more then medium in my presence, you may observe a single, solitary tear slowly rolling down the outer profile of my nose, around the corner of my lip, and drop from the base of my chin, as a small part of me dies inside.

You have to come to San Antonio, TX, we not only have TX BBQ but we are home to the best Tex Mex. Breakfast tacos, puffy tacos. The river walk, the missions, including the Alamo. We have our beautiful pearl district, and sea world six flags Fiesta Texas San Antonio zoo. A lot to do here. Two restaurants I suggest is Mi Tierra and Ray's drive inn.

The reason some like medium-rare is because it’s generally considered the tastiest way to eat steak because of the layered doneness. The pink middle ensures juiciness and tenderness while the more cooked layers give the firmness and flavorful coloring on the outside. Try it! You might not ever eat another well-done steak again.

All states have BBQ. There are also different breeds of cattle used for BBQ. Most southern states use Longhorn for their cooking while the Midwest uses Angus and some of the states around the Rockies use Bison. Basically you can use the same cut off of each, cook exactly the same way, time ect and you will have different tastes. Also, alot of places take pride in their BBQ so be careful there. Texas is known for eating beef (bbq, smoked,ect) but Kansas City is very prided on their BBQ. Tennessee is also known for theirs as well. Each state has their own version of soul foods, comfort foods, BBQ, fast foods and all.

In terms of the cook on your steak, it depends on your age, usually and how much beef you have eaten in your life at different temperatures. Once you eat medium rare and can put aside whatever preconceptions and fears about the color and then enjoy the tenderness, you'll be disappointed by medium, because it's overcooked. That said, my older Sister still has this hangup from childhood and her kids have inherited it - my Brother in Law almost cried at how he had to overcook a prime rib for Thanksgiving just so they would eat it. If you like the texture of tougher meat - more power to you - jerky is great, too. All in all, order it how you like it, psychological or tactile reasons are both valid. Land of the free!

The more rare the meat, the more tender it is. I like mine medium, my husband likes his medium well. My best friend likes hers rare which is, seared on both sides and cool in the middle it's literally a raw steak that's gently seared.

Key lime pie is one of my favorite desserts. It is sweet and tangy at the same time. That and tiramisu are my favorite desserts. But you need it try authentic peach cobbler from Georgia and apple pie and strawberry pie here in America. And don't forget to go to a Diary Queen when you come. They have a ice cream dessert called A BLIZZARD that if you like ice cream you will absolutely LOVE.

I always go medium rare and my favorite method of making steaks is directly on top of charcoal (aka dirty steaks). if not doing it like this, then standard super hot cast iron pan method (super hot - sear, then finish in the oven)

Last comment (I usually only leave one, but we’re talking about meat here). I don’t do dessert. I prefer the meat with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. Gotta start with a simple chilled salad with ranch or balsamic dressing too.

Regarding meat, it's completely random. Everyone has their own preference. One of the reasons American food is so good is because they aren't burdened by cultural norms. With food, there are no rules! Eat whatever you like however you like.

Exactly! I don't drink wine, but it reminds me of how they have "rules" like, you must drink white wine with certain foods and red with others. Everyone's taste is different and if someone likes red wine with fish or white wine with beef, then they aren't wrong. No one should eat something in a way they don't like just because other people tell them that's the way it must be done!

What you said about some culinary experts say a steak has to be rare to medium rare. Some chefs, in other states, might refuse to cook it any other way. In Texas, we say we’re paying for it so it should be cooked however the hell we want it. Personally I like it medium well. It should have a thin line of pink through the center. The problem is most places don’t know how to cook med well as they hurry it so it comes out with your partners steak which may be just medium.

FYI, for the most tender steak experience, Medium rare is the only way to eat steak. I used to think the same way you do, but whatever juices you see coming out of the steak IS NOT BLOOD! There's a name for it, but I can't think of it at this moment.

The way a steak is cooked is always individual preference. With that said, in the more high-end steakhouses, the chef will frown upon cooking to a Well Done. Medium Well is the farthest they might go.

Wagu is overrated. There is no "wet aged" only dry aged. - That means they hang it is the back of the cooler for 3 weeks before they trim all the mold off of it.

Mid rare is the sweet spot of Steak - however, Mid all the way to Rare is common. If I know how the meat is aged & trust the butcher, I will eat a Blue steak (which is the rarest version). The aging must be done well for you to enjoy a good blue steak. When I go out, I tend to eat Mid Rare. I'll get the Cowboy cut over the Tomahawk version since they are the same cut of meat. I just don't have to work around the bone with the Cowboy!

Medium Rare!!! Keeps all the moisture in but is warm all the way through and just delicious!! Anything over medium - it loses a lot of the juices - and well done - well if you like to chew a lot - go for it! LOL I'm from Ohio where we have lots of beef cattle farms and same darn good steaks too! But seriously most eat their steaks medium rare to medium . . . Medium well to well . . . you are ruining the delicious steak! And yes, they are eating my favorite cut of the steak - the Ribeye!!! These are both ribeye steaks!!! Delicious!

As an American most people have their steak medium or medium rare because anything more you are taking the chance of cooking the amazing flavor out of the steak and it becomes just like any other bland unforgettable steak that you can get any where. My ex-wife was a WELL DONE kind of steak eater and I finally got her to try a bite of my medium rare steak and it completely changed the way that she had her streak from that point. You don't want to cook out the flavor juices of any piece of meat (only cow). The juices are were all of the flavors of the meat is. Chicken or pork you want medium to sell done because of the things that you can get from eating under cooked bird or pork. It is just not something smart to do.

I'm not sure why it seems that everyone in the UK thinks Texas is the only spot to go eat meat. Theres great BBQ and steak places all over the country, especially the south. Texas has great options but so does everywhere else. Most people that say the best stuff is in Texas are probably from Texas. Check out the BBQ in North and South Carolina as well as Memphis and Kansas City.

I think part of it is, all these reaction channels (If you pay attention) almost all go to the same places they saw others from the UK go to. Just like the videos they react to (All of the reactors, especially the Britt reactors), one reaction channel reacts to a video and usually within 24-48 hours the others then react to it. It's to the point that the reaction channels (And don't get me wrong, I watch a ton of them and thoroughly enjoy them all, so I'm not talking smack about them)... but they need to be more original to what they're reacting to. Instead of just following what all the other channels just reacted to.

I live in Houston. Not sure you guys realize how big the state is so once you get closer to wehen you come may have a decision on where you go. San Antonio, Austin. Dallas. Houston/Galveston. If you're just coming as a foodie i would stay in Austin where there is a Terry Black's and Texas Roadhouse, tomahawk steak, then you can easily get to San Antonio with the good Tex-Mex food and if you crave seafood then drive 3-4 hours to Galveston. Renting a car would be advisable

You can ask them to cook the steak however you wish. I would say never do "well done" but that's just me. I go for "medium rare" steaks. The steaks in this video look absolutely amazing 🤤 You guys just need to hurry and get to Texas!

It has nothing to do with Texas. Everyone has their own preference on hie their steak is cooked. However, all over the US if you dine st a nice steak house medium rare is the ideal temp and what the chefs would recommend, maybe even rare at some places or some cuts if steak such as filet mignon 8:56

Fun fact, Texans love Pecon Pie so much they have vending machines with Pecon pies so people can buy them 24 hours. I live in Austin Texas, there's one 20 minutes away from me! Terry Blacks isnt the best BBQ in Austin, Franklins BBQ is far better.

I’d say most people in the US prefer medium rare. I do as well. I just don’t get why people get mad when people have theirs well done 😂. It’s all preference. If there’s a right and wrong to food preferences then black coffee is the only way and corn tortillas for tacos is the only way. 😃

I love my steak extra rare, still red in the middle. I eat all other meat well, especially ground meat. Once you grind meat any bacteria on the❤ surface can be spread throughout the meat. Of course, pork, chicken and ham need to be fully cooked😂❤.

Medium Rare to Rare depending on the mood I'm in... that maintains more of the flavor! Anything more than Medium Rare and you start killing (cooking out) the taste, and make the meat tougher!

a lot of fancy streak resturants will only do medium rare. or below anymore. they tell you to go to mcdonalds cause you ruined the steak

Ok so I understand that steak rarity is debatable but I have a reason for switching from well done to medium rare. Growing up: my mom didn't allow me to have any red showing in any steaks I ate until I was old enough. She was worried I'd catch something from the not thoroughly cooked steak as a child.

Bottom line on a beef steak the longer you cook it the tougher an less juicer it is so you pick you want tough an dry get med well you want juicy an tender med rare

these guys spend a small fortune on just food alone, I like medium well on steaks, all states have awesome restaurants you just have to know where to look. You got to try Pecan pie, Keylime pie , Banana pudding, peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream

Terry blacks in Austin Is an experience It's worth the wait because you'll have fun with people in line Its certainly pricey But tell him you came from the UK to try it And you're making content They'll hook you up

When visit the states I think you schedule one month for Texas food tour, just saying. My preference is med rare as you see on the video, it sounds like you should order med well, only a little pink inside.

MEDIUM RARE is textbook temperature according to culinary professionals. Anything else is considered disrespectful to the meat and to the chef. Sometimes they'd rather you leave their restaurant than have to ruin a prize cut of meat.

Studies show that 83.5% of Americans prefer medium rare steak and the other 16.5% are wrong. 😎 Caveat: The above comment is a joke. It isn’t calling into question your personal choice. If you love blue or well done, awesome……. even if you have no taste buds. 🤣

Never, ever....Cooked beyond medium on fine beef. Current pricing on the Tomahawk Rib Eye is $125.00 at this establishment. The only way to preserve the intensity and freshness of a cut like the Tomahawk is to have it prepared medium or less. Remember, you're not just paying for a slab-O-beef. This place ages beef to assure the utmost in flavor before it is cooked. Tagging each cut and cooking at enormously high temps to assure a crisp, flavorful outside and juicy, tender interior. In many ways the exact opposite of Terry Blacks. Blacks will take a questionable cut of beef (brisket or Dino Rib) cooking it low and slow. Slowly building the "Bark" and forcing all the less than desirable parts to slowly melt and infuse the beef with unbelievable flavor. One cooks in 4 to 8 minutes the other in 14 hours.
