Usually beef hotdogs are Kosher, the best hotdogs are Kosher also much heathier compared to normal dogs; less additives, preservatives, and fillers or something.

If you have no idea as to why those that don’t eat pork do not “ then educate yourself” it’ll help you in life; beef is a superior meat to pork and chicken and an all beef hotdog generally leans towards high quality; I don’t like whip cream in my milkshake as many don’t but at least for those that do it’s available. When trying a milkshake at a new location keep it simple in order to be able to taste for strength of flavor & quality; nothing worse than a chocolate malt you can’t taste the malt in or a chocolate shake you can barely taste the chocolate in. It’s better to add salt & pepper yourself than have it overdone by a teenage pimple face that doesn’t care; 5 guys is too expensive but they also use top ingredients. Reviewing Bojangles & Checkers is advisable & also Carl’s Jr.

I agree, BUT! As Dirty Harry (Clint Eastwood) said, "Who the hell puts ketchup on a hotdog?!" Mustard is the default condiment for any hotdog. :)

My husband and I totally agree about the burger not being seasoned. For the price, we thought the burger was just okay. It is a large burger but the taste is just meh. We are definitely loving Shake Shack. Their burgers are seasoned and the buns are amazing. Their bacon cheeseburger does not even need sauce the flavors are so good.

We agree! Nothing worse than a bland burger. The hotdog was nice and the Cajun fries were fresh and tasty. Your right though, Shake Shack is good as a comparison!

In most burger joints you can inquire as to whether they season their meat patties. If they do not you can request that they salt and pepper their meat patties while cooking. It really adds a lot of flavor to the beef patty, and trust me it makes all the difference in the world !!! Just the opinion of a food service business owner of 13 years and a 45 year love affair with cheeseburgers. Keep the great videos coming and take care.

Thanks for you kind words and sharing your experience! You can't beat good seasoning in our opinion, but I suppose they have to cater for every taste. So not seasoning or under seasoning, is a safer option. In hindsight we should have added the fries to the burger!

Five guys are also famous for cutting their own fries from potatoes (most places uses frozen pre-cut). So it costs them very little to give a ton of extra fries. To answer your question about a large, it's enough fries for about 4 people.

That is all just a marketing ploy.... you don't get anymore fries than you would at a mcdonalds, that is why 5 guys puts their fries in their own bag to give the illusion that you are getting more. You are getting just a normal amount of fries rofl Also 5 guys should not be that expensive considering they are just average homemade burgers labelled as fast food for some reason.

Here's the deal, you can always add salt and pepper to your burger, but you can't remove it once it's on the burger.

I also ask for no whip on my shakes/smoothies/any thing that normally includes whip so its not a weird thing. also for burgers you can ask for the patties well seasoned/be cooked with more seasoning, or at least last time I went you could

The Cookout has the best milkshakes. They're so thick you have to eat them with a spoon and they also have pieces of fruit in them depending on the season. I can't remember how many different flavors that they have but it's quite a few

Oh how apropos! I picked up Five Guys for dinner tonight! Little cheeseburger and little Cajun fries! DELICIOUS!! Every time I think about trying shake shack I think of the crinkle it fries and I remember I can get the fries I love with a pretty fantastic burger so I am off to Five Guys. The hot dogs are awesome too!

We used to eat at 5 Guys quite a bit when they first became popular. Their food was really good and the prices were reasonable. Sadly, it’s rarely the case anymore. If you guys ever make it up to Colorado or New Mexico, the green chile burgers are to die for.

Y'all need to go to South Carolina. Specifically downtown Greenville. Go to yeehaw brewing. Savannah bee company and literally anywhere with bbq and carolina gold sauce. Hopefully you guys can check out that area sometime soon

When I cook burgers, I always use a few drops of Worcestershire sauce on my patties as they are cooking. Adds the seasonings needed for a great tasting burger. I hate bland beef. Even worse if their too dry, i.e., no fat content.

To understand the hamburger, you might wasn’t to take a trip to New Haven Connecticut to a place called Louis Lunch( opened in 1895!) they say the hamburger was invented there. While your in town visit Frank Pepe’s pizza , New Haven has fantastic food and restaurants all over it’s worth a trip.

Your fellow Brits, Mr. H and Friends, just tried Five Guys in the UK and they said the same about the burgers. They got the salted caramel shake too and they weren't fans of the bacon They loved the hot dogs and the fries more as well. My brother loves Five Guys. I've never tried them and given how pricey they are, I probably won't when there are better burgers at a better price. But I do love a good hot dog and those fries did look amazing so I'd have those. I'm with you, Nicola, on the shakes. I really have to be in a mood for one. Love you guys! Your banter makes me laugh :).

No, you'll actually find that you'll find All Beef hotdogs just as much if not more often here in the US than you would pork hotdogs. And honestly, the beef hotdogs are better. And the more girth the better.

There is Habit Burger near me in Maryland. I’ve been there 2-3 times. Pretty good. Their fries don’t compare to Five Guys though. Though I’ll also admit, as good as FiveGuys fries are… they are also quite greasy.

If I could offer another place to try if there is one near you, QDoba (similar to Chipotle) is delicious. Their adobo chicken is so good and use margarita salt on their chips. 😋

I get the grilled cheese (toastie) with a burger patty, grilled onions and mushrooms + cajun fries. I also find if you take a bites of fries then a burger, you realize cajun fries are salty enough. Too much salt would be overkill.

Prices vary by location. I just checked and the Bacon Cheese Dog is only $7 here. Not cheap, but reasonable. I’m getting the impression that you live in an area with higher food prices in general.

Pretty sure they are in CA. Pretty sure fast food workers get paid somewhere around $20 an hour there so with higher costs prices have to creep up besides the property and rent has to be considerably higher than other parts of the country.

I really like 5 guys, but its always been considered expensive. I usually get the regular fries, they are better if you ask me. I usually eat them with malt vinegar and ketchup. The burger I tend to keep simple because it can get messy. So, I usually just do a cheeseburger with bbq sauce and onions. If I get a milkshake, it's a banana milkshake. As usual, great video!

And British ones at that :D I was watching another channel yesterday or the day before and all of a sudden a new video popped up that they uploaded - and it was a reaction to you two having biscuits and gravy and I couldn't believe it lol You two are famous already! Also, Five Guys is great (usually) but man their thing with dumping 35 kilos/pounds of French fries in your bag is something else eh? :D *Edit* Also as I said in another video where you asked about fries - you two have to try Checker's (or Rally's - it might be Rally's in California, not sure) fries. Absolutely my favorite fast-food fries around. Only rivaled (as I said previously also) by Nathan's fries :)

The biggest problem with Five Guys is they never season the meat. It's the biggest problem at most burger places in the US. Then they want to charge you $20 for an underseaoned burger with fries that have too much seasoning. Make it make sense.

We didn't know what to expect and wouldn't rush back for the burger. The hotdog and cajun fries was good!

You should have ordered a vanilla shake with bacon. The salted caramel overrides the bacon flavor. Five guys does not add salt and pepper due to the fact that everyone has different tastes. You can easily season to your personal preference.

In America, hot dogs are beef not pork. Sausage is pork... Andouille, Kielbasa, Bratwurst etc...they're pork.

Seasoning lack: what I call the Salt police people who bully businesses because they have been wound up about salt to the point of ANY salt and they have a meltdown and scream and complain. The restaurant tries to nullify them and their burgers are bland. This has happened in small places, fast food places, all over the country. The Salt Paranoids drive me crazy.

lol! The hot dog was delicious! I supposed i can be difficult to find the balance between to much and not enough. These days there are some low sodium spices which help with the taste though

Not seasoned enough - my thoughts exactly. Went to a Five Guys for the first time and while it was OK, I didn't think it was that good. TBH, a chain that seasons their burgers nicely is Jack in the Box. It's not an expensive chain.

Most high quality hot dogs in the United States are beef or at least include beef. Nathan's, Hebrew National, even Ballpark sell all beef hot dogs. Most cheaper hot dogs are made with a mix of chicken and pork, like Bar S. Polish dogs, again, tend to be beef, but it's beef hearts.

Five Guys does not add anything to the meat; no salt, no pepper, no onion powder - nothing. It's just meat and bun. McDonalds patty 120 mg (5%) Five Guys patty 50mg sodium (2%)

@thebritstry They only have 5 food items on their menu. Chicken Tenders, Texas Toast, Cole Slaw, Crinkle Fries and Canes Sauce. The lemonade is made fresh every day as well. You should also get their honey mustard (which is a secret menu item). They make both of their sauces in house and ask for your toast to have Butter on Both Sides.

I imagine the beef hot dogs exist for several reasons. Not only for the religious reasons, but also because they come across as being higher quality. I think pork hot dogs have the reputation that you just don't ask what bits of the pig went into making it.

Costco hot dogs are better and they're only $1.99 and it comes with a soda drink with free refill. Costco pizza and chicken bakes are also really good...can't beat the price

Beef hot dogs are better, but they are not worth $10, the most I would pay for an all beef hot dog is $5.00, they are over-priced at five guys. I get chili dogs at a place called Wonderdog for $3.25, they are not all beef, but they are still very good, and at 2 for $6.50 it's a really good deal.

@@thebritstry I doubt if you have a Wonderdog near you, it's a local mom and pop place near me, and I think they are only in this area of East Peoria Illinois. But you might have something like it near you, do a google search on places to get cheap hot dogs, maybe you have a mom and pop hot dog place near you. Look for a bar that has food, and it is known to have good food for cheap prices. I play pool leagues at a bar in East Peoria Illinois called Meadows Tap. It has a kitchen and they have pretty good food, especially the steakburgers, they buy the meat fresh every day from a butcher shop called Alwans. I know all this because I am good friends with the owner, and our 8 ball pool team has won him 2 city championships since 2016. Their burgers are really good, and they also have $2.00 tacos every Thursday, they usually buy 50 lbs. of taco meat and sell out by 8pm or so every Thursday, so they sell a lot of tacos.

Five guys is just ok. In n out is a better burger. Cheaper. In Colorado we have burger places unique to us, like Crave Real Burgers. Crazy place. Great food.

Five Guys is over-hyped and over-priced, and as you found out, they do not even season their burgers, you have to do it yourself, for that price they are ridiculous, which is why I never go there. When I want a good burger I just go to a local bar near me that sells 1/2 lb. steakburgers, they season them really well, and they are amazing. They burger alone is $10.00, or $13.00, but that includes a big order of really good hand cut french fries. And if you play the poker machines they give you free soft drinks, including lemonade and tea. The last time I was there I played a poker machine, won $50, then got a burger and fries, and paid for it with my winnings, and went home with $35.00 more than I went in there with.

Premium American Hot Dogs are 100% beef. Come to Chicago and try a hot dog there. Pork hot dogs, yuck, those are like the cheap hot dogs one buys in the store for their kids or if they are short on money.

Beef hot dogs are much superior to pork/chicken hot dogs. Pork/chicken hot dogs are made from the leftover bits. I have always preferred beef hot dogs like Nathan's or Hebrew International hot dogs over Oscar Mayer.

@@thebritstry Many hot dog brands are all beef, like Hebrew National, Sabrett and Nathan’s…which you’ll find in your local supermarkets. (Ask! They’re often in their own section.) They’re kosher, and all beef hot dogs are known to be “better.” No pork, and they don’t use cow lips, hoof gelatin, other less desirable parts of the cow. Of course, “better” is debatable, because there are very few hot dogs that I won’t eat, kosher or not.

its so strange to me that people don't get season burgers, its one reason i hate wendy's. i don't go to five guys at all, they closed down here but also, they are just too expensive for me. (with inflation, i'd be scared to see a 5 guys menu now) u can buy like 32-40 good hot dogs for 10$.. i either eat crappy fast food or i go to a nice sit down place. i don't like the inbetween

That's surprising that you didn't like the burger. As far as I know there decently popular. It's been like 10 years since I've had 5 guys beacuse the prices got out of control. But I remeber thinking the burger was quality but maybe there not as good as I remeber. I remeber really liking the fries though

Hot dogs can come with beef, chicken, pork or just one of the other meats. I would rather have a good beef dog than the others using the 3 ingredients. Brawts (bratwurst), Italian sausage dogs are also tasty. 5Guys is over priced imop. Great video

They are a bit pricy...I agree with you there but everything I ever had is very good!! Most good hot dogs are all beef (there are cheaper hot dogs that are part beef, bit of chicken, bit of pork...) . . . if it's all pork it's going to be called sausage . . . You all should have got a bit of salt and pepper to put on the burger . . some people don't want that so they let you do it . . I notice when you all do taste tests (any one from UK) - they add salt and pepper at all even though I'm sure it would really make the food much better!! (Taste first of course!!)

They are pricey but we agree it the hotdog was great. Now we know we will definitely be asking for seasoning on the burger, that was really the only thing that let the burger down in our opinion. 🤗
