@Luke Mills just be great full, if it wasn’t for Lambert we wouldn’t have Queen as a band anymore. I like him, but he just doesn’t seem to be a rock guy. Don’t take it away from Adam he’s a good singer, but no matter who you bring into Queen, don’t dare compare them to Freddie because we know who wins. It’s Freddie always and it’s so hard to compare the 2. Adam is definitely a more pop-ish kind of guy. I think they need Marc Martel if they want the same king of singing, but if we want the same stage performances we need Lambert. If I had to pick, I’d pick Marc Martel but yet again, don’t compare anyone to Freddie because it’s not fair to the singer and whoever sings for Queen will never EVER be nowhere as good as Freddie.

@@sdavis5001 I think it was Brian May who said the crowd wasn't a "Queen crowd". Queen weren't one of the big hitters at live aid who drew the crowds in. They weren't forgotten, but they also didn't belong into the group of recent superstars at that time. It's true most people didn't specifically come to see Queen, but it's Queen everyone remembers seeing. Queen knew very well what to do to burn this crowd into the ground. A crowd that might not have been full of Queen fans, but a crowd that knew Queen's songs. They converted this crowd into a "Queen Crowd".

But there were ppl in that crowd who knew they would be. We know not everyone as a whole liked all the groups that played. Concert was great but I can’t stand Bono example lol 😂…….anyway thankfully their hard practice work paid off perfectly, and back on the map they went. (I had to edit 😒my word check makes it up) Add: thing is so many argue the fact about the crowd. They came to see EVERYONE there….their own fav’s….and, it got knocked wayyyyy out of the stadium ☺️☺️☺️

They played short versions because every band on the day only had a short time slot. Around 20 minutes only. Lots of bands played only 2 or 3 songs, Queen understood and got more songs in by only playing a bit. Interesting factoid: the next act after Queen was David Bowie. Apparently Bowie said to someone just as Queen were taking their bows, "How the FUCK am I supposed to follow that?" And Elton John went to their caravan afterwards, came in and said, with a huge smile, "You bastards! You've stolen the show!"

The fact that Freddie and Queen still have this effect on people today is a testament to their music genius. Only two Queens can command such audiences. HRH and Freddie Mercury! This was the day the whole world knew that the UK had two Queens!! Seeing people still getting as much joy today really does choke me up. I'm not really tearing up. You are! Xx

As others have said. I remember this day. My husband had to work but I was in front of the TV most of the day. Each performer/band had 20 min. If they went over microphones were cut off. I have been a Queen fan since 1974 and that part of live aid is legendary, everything about it was just incredible which unfortunately we will never see ever again, it's a historic moment that is in every heart of Queen fans all over the world and made us British Queen and Freddie Mercury fans proud to be British. You could see that Freddie was enjoying his time on the stage and had a bond with the entire audience at the old Wembley Stadium in London. In my opinion, this was THE Greatest MOMENT in Rock History! Now you know how Queen stole the show on July 13, 1985! I bought my 1st VCR the day before specifically to record the entire 24 hour performance. I bought the DVD many years later, so I have literally enjoyed this performance 100s of times, and for the last 20 years, I celebrate the anniversary by watching again every July 13 at the same time of day as their performance. Yours was the most joyful reaction to Queen/Live Aid that I've seen, and I knew it was going to be fantastic to share in your experience! Makes me feel like it's 1985 watching it LIVE all over again! Love how you guys keep it real! And I don't care what Wikipedia says, there just HAD to be 200,000 people there. Doesn't Wembley Stadium seat 80-100,000? The entire field was WALL to WALL people STANDING, packed together like sardines. I've been at a Rock Shows (Bowie, Stones) at 90,000 fans. This just HAD to be twice that! 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦

Queen’s roadie Peter Hince (AKA Ratty) said he went out and bought a heap of alarm clocks and set them up all around their rehearsal area, because each band got a 20 minute time slot and then they’d turn the sound off. So Queen practiced for two weeks, condensed the songs down so they could fit in as many hits as possible. They were thoroughly prepared and it showed. Some of the other bands were woefully unprepared. Queen were always professional and wanted to give a great show to the fans. 70,000 people at Wembley that day and they weren’t even all Queen fans because the tickets had sold out before it was even announced they would be playing. And look at them all, clapping and singing along, waving like an ocean current. What a spectacular sight and Freddie had the best view of all. There was love flowing right back at him. Only Freddie could inspire such devotion. Loved your reaction guys. Please do some of their early work, Stone Cold Crazy and Liar

So I dont know what Peter is talking about He then dated joe for two years but again this is before Freddie met Peter Freddie and joe broke up because he couldn't cope with not having an open relationship with Freddie But that's not due to being ashamed..
