If you guys have not watched The Blue Brothers movie -- the original-- you must. The movie is silly but the music is fan- freaking- tastic. Aretha Franklin acts and sings in the movie, along with multiple other legends like Cab Calloway.

Growing up in the 1960s in England was great for music - didn't have much money but the radio and TV was a great escape and we had super soul songs coming in as well as bands like the Beatles and the Kinks and so on but hear Aretha or Etta James or Marvin Gaye Curtis Mayfield Al Green and we were all totally captivated. Plus Little Richard singing Get Down With it just had us all dancing.

Fabulous song by Aretha Franklin - what a voice. Other great songs are I Say A Little Prayer and Think, one of my favourites! She actually sang Think in The Blues Brothers film (1980) and that is definitely one of my favourite parts, this film's got lots of other great music too! Also, your Forrest Gump reaction was so good, George, but then so are all your other movie reactions! Great reaction to this song, guys, as always, many thanks. Take care now.

She sang at the Kennedy Center Honors awards for Carole King and brought down the house including a few tears from President Obama.. It was said that "Somebody to Love" by Queen was inspired by Freddie's deep respect for her.

Another in a long line of Detroit legends. You can't go wrong with her version of Burt Bacharach's 'Say A Little Prayer For Me' (and check out Dionne Warwick's version too, also great but much 'softer') and 'You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman', written by Carole King.

When this song came out in 1967, the idea of a Black person or a woman demanding RESPECT was a shock. To hear it from someone who was both was so empowering. The Queen of Soul has hundreds of songs worth your time, she could sing anything from gospel, R&B, soul, rock, disco to classical. Check out her performance of Nessum Dorma at the 1998 Grammys when she stepped in to replace an ill Pavarotti at the last minute, without rehearsal. Performing at Bill Clinton's inauguration, or doing Natural Woman at the Kennedy Center Honors for its writer, Carole King. I grew up with her music, and was lucky enough to see her live once.

Saw her in concert once and she had a costume change for every song...! Her band would just jam while she left the stage and at times they looked a bit lost without her upfront and center ad probably we the audience did too. But considering her many elaborate and complete wardrobe changes she wasn't off the stage long at all each time and each entrance was thrilling!! Very different kind of show, but I realized that Aretha really worked hard and this was the diva side we got to see that night. Btw, she was worth the wait every time!!

You have to watch her Kennedy Center performance of Natural Woman. She plays the piano wearing a full length mink coat and anyway I don’t want to give anything away, just watch it, you’ll freak. It was to honor Carole King, who wrote the song, but Aretha brought down the house. They don’t call her the Queen of Soul for nothing!

Pretty sure Respect was recorded in Muscle Shoals Alabama...after Forrest Gump, another fun fact about Alabama. The Beatles and Rod Stewart also recorded there because of the outstanding studio musicians in that area. Sweet Home Alabama mentions them in the lyric Muscle Shoals has got the swampers. They've been known to sing a song or two. I agree you need to react to The Blues Brothers movie. It also has a great soundtrack with some of the actual original artists doing cameos and singing in the movie. It's comedy cult classic. I had to tell you this. "I'm on a mission from God"
