Күн бұрынIn this continuation from Part 2 : The Foundation, John demonstrates how he uses Sandbox tools and other native SketchUp tools to generate and excavated site model. By comparing existing site and excavated site models, John is able to determine how many CY of excess soils are involved.

Great video. :) I have used this method to work out how much dirt needs excavating ever since I saw a earlier video some years ago where you explained this in some detail. Looking forward to the follow up videos. :)

"Why are you spending so much time on these models?" :) My question (at least in my head) on a lot of other KZfaq videos is "Why aren't you spending more time on these models?" I am trying to design my own house and so having it as close to buildable is my goal. Yeah, I can probably get by with not including some details. But what if the detail I chose to omit is actually come back and bite me later. Totally agree with you. It's important to have the detail there. Especially if you only have to create a profile and then just reuse it. Thank you for the videos!

Excellent videos, very informative. One little question though, at 08:30(ish) when you're deleting the perimeter to open up the volume of excavated space, could you not just turn off hidden geometry then single left click inside the boundary and delete?

What hw are you using please? It feels very fluent and you move around while having tools active. So I expect a space mouse of sorts :)
