I think that's outstanding Mr. Crawford won an Oscar for his performance. Kudos to you Mr. Crawford! And recently became a huge fan of Broderick Crawford. Just started watching Highway Patrol for the first time on METV and already bought Season 1 DVD and preparing to buy Seasons 2,3, and 4....I'm hooked! My dad (God rest his soul) loved Highway Patrol but it never aired when he was alive at the time, so I never knew what he was talking about until now. I don't mind waking up at 5 in the morning to watch it, METV doesn't record the audio on my Comcast DVR most of the time, so have to watch at 5am or I'll miss it, at least the audio portion. Good 'ol METV...always having technical issues every freakin' time, at least here in Fresno, Ca. Thanks for posting and sharing Oscars.

"All the KIng's Men" one of the great books of all time, and Broderick Crawford, born for that part. - Do you know I lived in his house? I also frequented the "Poop Deck" Lounge in Freeport, LI, where he was a welcome sight always, I'm sure. Complex man. Had a violent streak. Glad to see this moment. Very touching.

That’s the voice of Eve Arden(“Our Miss Brooks,” CBS-TV), doing the complementary moderation, voice over, as Broderick Crawford accepts his award at the podium! 🙂

Years later, he'd be setting up roadblocks for the highway patrol... Jane Wyman would be the ruthless matriarch of a winery.. and her ex-husband would be running the free world.

As a huge fan of Highway Patrol I didn't realise Broderick Crawford had won an Oscar. What a refreshing contrast in his modest acceptance speech to the pretentious cry babies that pass for 'Stars' today.

Broderick Crawford hurried off the stage because his martini was waiting.
@georgeplagianos6487 Жыл бұрын
That's cruel to say. I wonder Jane Wyman said any of these actors will probably forget this moment or something to that effect. I was wondering if she meant Broderick 🤔. That would have been kind of insulting but I know it was quite a drinker. Stopped for DWI. Still great personality.. I also like when he said thank God
@richardweiler6931 Жыл бұрын
He likely already had quite a few martinis before he reached the stage.

I presume the 1950 Oscar's were televised, but in 1950 not too many folks had TV's! My own folks got their first TV in 1952. We'd watch Jackie Gleason, I Love Lucy, John Cameron Swayze on the news.

Very, very nice. So much "CLASS" back then. This was way before a (certain ethnic group) of people whinned thier way into the movie business, demanded to awarded then started assulting each other on stage. The "Oscars" are now ruined. The low ratings prove it.
