People don´t see the beauty in a true love. The movie is not just about two men, but two forbidden pure lovers. That's what makes me sad. It's rare to see somebody saying this is a beautiful movie. Most people I talk just can say: "nasty". That's sad.

The scene in this movie where Ennis goes up to his true love's closet and smells his shirts always makes me break down. My husband died almost five years ago and I still do that. This movie shows that love is love, it doesn't matter if it's straight, gay or anything else. The heartbreak is real for all of us. What a beautiful, devastating movie this is.

"The truth is, sometimes I miss you so much, I can hardly stand it." Everytime I think to this movie and listen to this song, I can't hold my tears and I can't stop them from falling. I cried after Ennis finding out that jack gotten killed. But you know what, after I watched this movie, I searched for them to know how and where are they now. Then I found out that Ennis in real life is already dead. And that's the reason why I am always sad. How I wish he's still alive. Heath you will be missed forever. I watched this film yesterday. Bawled my eyes out at the last scene of their shirts and the postcard on Ennis' closet. God Jack loved Ennis so much it hurts. He wanted his ashes spread on brokeback mountain he promised to Ennis multiple times he kept their shirts in his closet travelled miles to see him and Ennis loved him too but it took him literally Jack's death fo come to terms w accepting that they should've lived together when they had the chance.

Ang Lee brought a greater level of emotional truth to this story and Heath and Jake were willing to follow his lead. How else can a movie elicit such strong emotion as an actor touches the few clothes left in the closet of a departed lover? Such a simple act, but so rich in memory. Their love was forbidden, but oh so deep.

I am a 19-year-old gay. I am Japanese and living in Japan. I watched this film for the first time. It hurt me. I don't know what had really occurred at that time, around the 1970s. I don't know how degree homosexual people had been discriminated at that time. It is not only the beautiful love story, but also this story involved me as well. I realized what I am when I was in an elementary school. Since then, I have been looking to how Japanese society would change. Again, I am gay. Since the day when I decided to hide myself from everyone, I don't feel this society has changed. I know Ennis' fear of being known what they are by people, and I know Jack's dissatisfaction of their love as well. I want to love the person I love in the same that way heterosexual people do. I don't want to hide myself anymore. In Japan, half of male adults in Tokyo are still disagreeing same-sex marriage. I don't know even how I can love a person in this country.

I think it's important to remember what is behind, Ennis loved Jack, but he loved their daughters too, he didn't want to left them because he knew what is to grow up without your parents. Besides, Ennis knew that it was dangerous to them to be together, and that's the point of the movie, show people how dangerous is homophobic in our society. It isn't Ennis or Jack's fault, it is fault of prejudices and hate.

I'm not gay, but this film made me move forward... proof that everything allows you to move forward. He allowed me to release my feelings for her, for the one I loved and still love today. This movie showed me what real sincere love is...Not an all-pink paradise, but a rollercoaster that always ends up converging... I swear...

@@lostdeeply397 Ennis said in the movie, "Jack, I swear, I should've never let you out of my sight." both in the movie and the book. Annie Proulx also wrote in the short story, "....though he never was one to swear, nor did he ever ask Jack to swear anything." So when Ennis was thinking back on their relationship at the end of the movie when he's looking at the postcard of Brokeback Mountain and their two shirts, and he says "Jack, I swear...", it adds a profound moment and a kind of summary of their story. uwyo.instructure.com/courses/447426/files/36321716

@@lostdeeply397 You should not cry tears of sadness. Real-world people like Jack and Ennis have had love, at least, at that is to be thought of with happiness, no matter what the ending of the story is. Take care, my friend.

I remembered that I wanted to see Brokeback Mountain a year ago (but never did) and watched it yesterday. I'm glad I did. It's an unbelievably sad movie, and so beautiful when you see Jack and Ennis together. I've seen so many movies, read so many books, but no love story ever touched me like this one. A lot of love stories are pretty cheesy and don't even get close to the concept of true love. But Brokeback Mountain shows what 'true love' actually means. Amazing song by the way. Makes me cry.

This song is perfect. Even though they were not free in their relationships, societal expectations, and economic situations what they had at least set them free in one way. They give each other wings to fly. I am sad that Jack had to die, but I'm happy for him because he knew what real love was and for a while he knew what it was like to be indescribably happy being in love and being loved by Ennis. Ah.. this is life.
