Here's a temporary fix and a full repair to an Xbox One S controller with a broken trigger button. I filmed this several months ago but just got around to editing. Sorry about the delay and I hope you find it helpful!

Thanks for watching! Dont forget to put the bar to the trigger completely back in place after you screw the trigger cover back on. I had to use the plyers to get it completely back in place and forgot to film that part. Hope you find this video helpful. Let me know if you have any additional question.

Awesome video, I followed your exact instructions and it worked for me! Glued it the broken plastic part helped for 2 weeks before the new part came in. So that is working also as a temp fix. Just great for all the clear instructions!

A magnet popped out of my right trigger and I can’t put it back in because part of the underneath of the trigger broke off and so the magnet isn’t held in place when I play. (And yes this is because I threw it at a wall)

I came here and at first was really disappointed with the repair I diy'ed the repair because I had the parts and then actually was happy to see that I could clean the parts with windex so I thank you for that tip. Repair was trash though

@@gremlen I'm subbed and liked, seriously was having a melt down. Got two broken controllers, ordered a new Xbox pad (lime tennis ball one) to find out the venom rechargeables don't fit, then to find out the (A) button sticks. Had to send it back, broken controllers was kids arguing and throwing them across room, one has one drift and trigger magnet case (snapped) so this morning I had a little time to myself and thought I'd merge the controllers, but I thought the rumble packs in the triggers was connected so you'd have to wire it all back up after so wasn't going to bother. Couldn't find a decent video and then came across yours. I now have my favourite Xbox pad back in fully working order. And it looks mint. So thanks again man. P.s kids are grounded and their not going on my Xbox till they learn to respect money. So I'm gonna mope around all day pretending my pads fucked. That'll teach em on father's day (uk)

Hey do you know anything about the magnet popping out? I cant find it anymore and I think my thing is broken cause if it. Any tips?

Yeah the magnet is needed for it to function. If it fell out, you should be able to pop it back in or maybe even use some glue to hold it back in place. Im not sure where to find a replacement for it besides harvesting from another broken controller. You might be able to find the magnet on ebay or aliexpress. Thanks for watching and commenting.

You can try holding the trigger down and look in any gaps to see what’s going on. However, it would more than likely require taking some of it apart to see what’s going on and fix the trigger. Sorry you’re having issues. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

sometimes the sides can be stubborn to remove. Maybe try a thin pry tool. Be patient with it as you dont want to crack the plastic. Sorry you are having trouble. Thanks for watching and commenting!

You might need to investigate further by taking it apart. Sometimes its just the magnet pops out and you can put it back in place. Other times it might be broken like the trigger in this video. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Sorry you’re having trouble with the controller. You will likely have to take it apart to investigate further. Sometimes the magnet falls out of the trigger and it could be reinstalled. Or the trigger plastic could have cracked like the one in this video.

That’s kinda what I did, every time someone I know breaks their xb1 controller I always ask to have it for parts. I’ve rebuilt about 3 controllers now and it makes it so much easier now that I learned how to solder wires back on

So the left trigger of my controller doesn't work, I didn't take it fully apart but I saw that the magnet was missing, I found it, put it back in, and it still doesn't work, what do you think is wront with it?

Sorry to hear about the controller issues. You can try to flip the magnet over and put it back in...but it’s likely the sensor if everything else seems okay. Replacing the sensor would require soldering. Another thing to check is if there’s any firmware updates for the controller. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions. @@gremlen Thanks for the advice, I actually flipped the magnet and now it works, I just need to find a way to fix it in place, because now it attached itself to the cover of the trigger, and the sensor only reacts to it when it's fully pushed in

My rumble started acting up in my right trigger so I detached it and snipped the rumble out of it and now my trigger won’t re attach :(

Oh no sorry to hear that it won’t reattach. It took me a bunch of tries to get the trigger back in place.

If you're trying to take the hex heads out and you don't have the proper tool just get a 5/64th and either a hole punch or a screwdriver with a sharp point on the tip... Stick it inside of the head and break the center piece out wiggling it back and forth it will snap after that you can use the 5/64th hex to fit it.. good luck

you might be able to harvest the screws from another broken controller or use ebay/aliexpress. I just reused the ones on this controller. Thanks for watching!

I’ve been scouring the internet to find the replacement parts for this repair but for an elite series 2 controller, if anyone knows where to find the replacement parts for that model controller please let me know !

Sorry you’re having trouble. Worst case scenario, you can buy a broken elite 2 to harvest for parts. I’m not sure the one I linked in the description will work for elite 2. Any luck with searching eBay or AliExpress?

@@gremlen I was hoping to not have to get a whole second controller just for the one bracket, and as far as eBay, Ali express and Amazon go all I was able to find was Xbox one and Xbox one S, which are the same ones you linked and the model before it, I also compared the bracket between both model controllers and I don’t think either would be compatible to the one I’d need

I just threw my controller because I'm getting divorced. Im not a crybaby that throws things but 16 years of my life is going to change. Anyways it's the same exact spot that broke and I'm going to have to glue it. But if anyone has the problem finding a tool to take the screws out use a hole punch with a sharp needle 💉 like tip to break the inside of the hex bolt out... You'll know what I mean when you see it... You can wiggle it back and forth and break it out if you get something in there metal just try not to mess up the sides for the hex.... After that just put your regular hex in there it should be a 5/64 good luck
