Skateboarding at 44 years old... Getting my bearings (and other bad jokes). Are bearings that important? I don't know, and I'm not sure this video sheds any further light, but it's nice to get the chance to find out.
Thanks to Skate Hut for sending me product!!

and here's a link to the bearings I tried in the video:

Me too, but "not anymore". You are doing a wrong promotion with these bearings. Today I swapped my about 2 years old Bronson RAW with Bones Swiss Ceramics. I tell you what...Bronson RAW is crap compared to them but superior when you skate on plaza skatepark next to a BMX trail that have tons of clay and soil. You don't wanna see my board after 1h sesh.

Great job on the review mate! Stoked that they reached out to you too, hopefully something they continue to do 😀 I almost went for the Bronsons to be fair but I wanted trucks and bearings (which I still use now). Haha 'weed whacker, do we call it that?!'

Great video as always! I'm absolutely dreading the day I need to replace my bearings, mine have been in my wheels for almost 10 years sitting in a shed up until about a year and a half ago when I started skating, never been cleaned or speed creamed yet they spin faster than any brand new bearings I've had, they're also pretty stuck in the wheels 😅 I'll definitely be "bearing" these in mind when I get new ones.. I'll see myself out

The fact they contacted you is testimony to your vlogs. They must of had a look and approved of your content 👊 they haven’t contacted me 😂rock n rolls looking good man! Nice vlog as always! Oh yeah… they will roar at you when the factory lube dries after a few sessions. You’ll learn to love that roar too 😂 it’s a beautiful noise. Scooter kids hear you coming!

Here's the thing with the raws, they're fast as shit out of the box (only ones I've tried that were probably faster straight away were Rockin' Ron's rockets but they're impossible to find now) but because of the lack of shields they wear out faster than a normal bearing as well. Bearings typically lose their speed because the races get damaged and scratched up from microscopic debris and obviously shields help with that. Hell, half the reason bones swiss are so revered for their durability is because they have some of the best fitting shields of any skate-centric bearing, which makes it even more hilarious to me when people pay $60 for them and then pop the shields so they can "sound fast". The new SKF lineup is really solid too, nice thick shields that dont bend easily.

id say the same thing about reds..theyre cheap but fast if you keep them in good condition...the typical cheap/dirtbag skater....equates to buying as many red/sets for as long as a swiss set would last them....and like 3-4 a year if they skated all the time...to keep the same speed/feel or that like new feeling. But its also why i never got the labyrinths...bc i dont want to invest more time in cleaning/maintenance. I always found that the build quality in the swiss meant even when un-greased/cared for esp when compared to the avg/red "user" theyre still faster when worn/loud/damaged and finally cleaned/greased. Plus most street/flat/park skaters rarely understand the VALUE of Speed when it comes to wall to wall or how much COPINGS you can touch on a single run/pump/air drop...its really exchanging money for convenience of less need for maintenance...though it will still cut back on the life/cycle of the bearings or having to replace 1-2 here or there....bc of the eventual full on damage. Still if you can afford it/quiver XD...then theres no compromise for speed and being able to trick your mind into thinking your going to get half way down a transition if not to the flat bottom fractions of seconds faster...it means a lot in reality...bc of how you land/lean/position yourself for tricks/inbetween tricks....since your body cant adjust/react faster than ripping decides. Esp as we age. OFC wheel size and WB changes stance and speed aspects of transition skating...but its one of the aspects i notice most in my quivers....once youre familiar with different boards/shapes...it becomes a background...to noticing if youre running different trucks/bushings/bearings...if you arent doing flip tricks...you dont even notice wheel/ege profiles just hardness/speed/grip....and contact patch...for when you land and where your feet are to keep going wall to wall. But you notice these things if you quiver a lot more IMO. Which tricks/transfers/grind transfers are easier/harder and why.

Im just wondering aren't the bearing ball supposed to be on the inside of the wheel so the dirt cant reach them as fast?
@Ungracefulmovement

There’s logic to that. But logic is boring.😑

There are no shields. The red part is the cage. It doesn't keep debris out.
@BronsonSpeedCo
@BronsonSpeedCo 2 ай бұрын
While dirt can still go inside the bearings because they are shieldless after all, you want the ball bearings & cage to face outward from the wheel. This way any dirt, dust or crud can spin out of your bearings.

i think this caters more to PROS that get boxes of this stuff sent to them talking lifetime/year supplies vs a person expecting at most 1 year of peak/solid use for 40$+ in a bearing. FWIW i think it also caters on the REAL to ppl that dont skate "HARD" like park skaters or ppl that actually dont skate impact or do huge airs in transition or gaps/etc in flow. IMO i think it will last longer...but the impact is really what imbeds/damages the races with debris And IMO not cleaning reds or caring for them leads to just as much wear esp if you dont run a quiver, which may also be where these can be viable. A single setup w/reds even with care still leads to pretty marred/damaged races at least outer races. And IMO even with swiss...the "sound" or audible speed....is no match for how they feel after a fresh clean+grease...when you land a huge air...or air drop into a transition the feel/speed is hugely noticeable. Or wall to wall trick chain capability or ability to pop/air later in a chain of tricks/walls. IMO the heat/noise in swiss...is just compensated for the higher quality steel/build tolerances that even when ungreased/loud or hotter...they PERFORM. Cant remotely say the same about a lot of brands/options as far as that goes with "audible" performance. Esp with super swiss 6...those are just generally smoother/better designs for landing into lips/transition IMO...and even when loud theyre pretty solid. Im more worried about my red 6 balls...or rush bearings bc in a quiver/cruiser setup or something id care a lot less for like a cruiser/beach cruiser with bad debris/water etc. But its why theyre tossers...bc id dont want to/expect to open them up and clean them just have them in a trunk/softened up older setup with core/ring seated cruiser wheels. VS actually having something substantial that would have to dedicate time/effort towards.

BEARINGS DONT MATTER they´e all designed to spin at like 3500 rpm or more. Roll speed depends on your core and your wheel size/duro. Barspin doesnt matter either. thanks for coming to my ted talk. now stop wasting your money on scams with nice logos.
@loveandnapalm

@anhiirr

bar spin is definitely a false aspect bc 6 balls even reds....are a huge noticable difference in speed wall to wall in transition/air drop speed....and when landing airs/transfers into lip. The smoothness and lack of friction/resistence of 1 less ball is definitely a huge difference esp when running harder wheels like 101a. Or B blends. IMO some bearings can RUN when ungreased/loud...others simply cant and will fail pre-maturely...or the heat will cause cores/bearing seats to warp in a lesser wheel/design etc. Its why even older "slower" swiss bearings are still better than other options bc w.o grease/proper maintenance they lose speed so quickly....even the abec-11 nothing specials...great when brand new fresh...but such smol tolerances make dust or a lack of lubrication so much more APPARENT of an onset...esp when landing airs or doing fliptricks on bankwalls etc. You feel the speed exchange for a different axis/angle than where you want to ride/go. And its what led me to running 6 balls. Being sponsored is what living the "brand new experience is" since they always get product/boxes. Its just obvious when bones swiss or swiss 6 are still fast when loud/ungreased...and the build quality is whats equating to their ability to still perform vs other bearings. Doesnt mean its ideal but to me a testament to why ppl are so oriented with the sound of their setup and how much it adds to their "experience" vs others that simply would rather max out their wall to wall potential as they get older....or how much speed they get w.o having to worry about knee/hip etc fatigue in a session. Though a "lack of grease" imo also adds to a coefficent of board/feel response for aspects of fliptricks or landing into a lip/qp/transition/bankwall after doing one....if you actully know what youre doing. This marketing bs is PEFECT for those parkinglot/slappy kids that wont even hit the park....or learn to no-comply and possibly wont ever learn a full bag of tricks...i dont really care whats good/bad for skateboarding bc im still there to rip. Theres real skaters that actually ride pt a to b...and rip a lot of terrain...then theres ppl that like to cosplay as skaters..and this raw bearing bs...fits that bs so perfectly i cant lie or help not to laugh tbh
