Exactly. I expect we're the same age. It was an event to get to the record store asap and pick up the new album, get back, call friends, and just listen to both sides uninterrupted -- like the tracks. Noise complaint from neighbors -- and I lived in a house! LOL! In particular, and in spite of the incredible musical creativity of the times, Led Zeppelin was the pulse. And still is. GOAT.

The band said this was their favorite song overall, and it took three years working on it before they were satisfied with the results. Bono (RIP) said it was also the hardest to play, but he loved it. He played 4/4 time to their 3/4 time, in sync every 12 beats, which is one of the many reasons this has magic in it. I'm an old guy now, but your exploration and enthusiasm takes me back to my excited youth and the first time I heard this, and the rest. Good for you for being so receptive and enthused! Keep up the reactions. Subscribing all the way!

I did grow up listening to them -- Most radio stations wouldnt play them in our area -- and the critics HATED them - Rolling Stone Magazine gave them terrible reviews --- Like The Doors (whom you must check them out too) - they were too dangerous looking and mature to be included in Tiger Beat or Seventeen magazines -- It was almost word of mouth for us -- we would listen to a album at a friends house and run out and buy our own 8tracks - vinyl - or cassettes -- I would buy their newest releases before ever hearing any of their songs on them -- They never disappointed

It was an amazing phenomenon. A band that sold millions of albums and set box office records had almost no recognition as a household name. They did almost no television. Very little mainstream media coverage, and what there was sometimes had headlines like: "Believe it or not, they're bigger than The Beatles!" and the story would be about how they sold more tickets than the Shea Stadium concert or something. They were like the world's biggest cult band, except with massive statistics...

Yes different time. Zeppelin put out very few singles. Radio back in late 60s and early 70s was really AM stations and songs that they wanted were like 2 or 3 minutes long. Zeppelin refused to go with that short format. Then FM radio started these rock stations , and they let songs be longer. So us big harder rock fans listened to them. AM got more of your bubble gum music. Before long AM stations just stopped playing rock music. What alot of people don't realize is artists back then cared more about their music than the money. Money was secondary. Today is just the opposite. Now adays its always ABOUT THE MONEY. They get one hit and live off that 1 hit . Today its about the money not the music. I use the word music very loosely. Sorry now I'm just ranting.

I truly love to watch your journey into the led zeal in rabbit hole. I’m in my 40’s and. I remember getting to listen to the bands like Led Zeppelin , Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, , the Who, Marillion, Tears for Fears, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Mike Oldfield and many many more…all…for the first time. My brother is 6 years old than me and it was him that got me into music. He would buy a album every weekend and we would both lay on our beds with our head phones and listen to the music for the first time. I remember the buzz deep with my stomach, how my heart raced, how my mind exploded with excitement at the music experiences. I started learning guitar at the age of 14, my brother was a classically trained pianist…. The world of music and its tapestry of beauty changed my life forever. It’s that powerful! I’m so happy to be witnessing your first reactions to such great music. You have only scratched the surface…. Wait to you see theses bands live. Not just experiencing the music, but the emended talent of playing there songs live is another level yet you will have to experience and admire. Keep going boys! Loving it! Still the greatest Rock album ever made. Here’s a fun thing for you guys, the band used so many different musical styles, it’s ridiculous. Middle Eastern, folk, reggae, rock and even country! That’s right! LED ZEPPELIN recorded a country song! It’s called Hot Dog and is hilarious! Robert even mentions my state in it, TEXAS. But that’s for much later on. You have to go through the classics first. Still, it’s hilarious. 😁👍

It makes me SOOO happy and proud to see you young men being moved by this music the same way I was when I was your age. The way you appreciate the subtlety of the 4/4 time signature of the drums being out of phase with the 3/4 signature of the rest of the music - only having it lock up every 12th measure - Plant’s voice being backed by the music of Page and Jones. Unbelievable! You guys are learning and teaching at the same time the great universal truth: music isn’t black or white, it isn’t about an era or a music video or bubble gum and plastic. It’s not about east coast and west coast. It’s about a universal sound that reaches up and grabs you by the balls and makes you listen with your gut and heart instead of your ears. Watching you guys made my night!!!! If you go through the entire catalog of this band you won’t be disappointed. This song is the anthem of my youth…..thanks for listening to it. Keep Zeppelin alive amigos! God bless you!!!

The music of my generation was SO amazing, so full of awesome musicians and songwriters and singers, that we listened to this quality of music every single day all day, whether on stereo or on FM, which started as an underground movement to bring only the BEST, uninterrupted music that was available. If a DJ was saying something about the music, he/she spoke in almost a whisper and got quickly back to the music. FM was awesome back when it began. GREAT music was all around us, and we lived in the music. What wonderful days to look back on now that I'm headed towards 80 in a couple of years, and reliving the music through reactions like yours gives me so much joy. Glad to see you both back! I think it's really cool that you wait to listen to LZ to share with all of us, thank you. Kashmir isn't actually about the place, Kashmir; it's about a trip Robert and Jimmy took to Morocco, driving through the desert. They went to Morocco several times and became enamored of the highly rhythmic, almost trance inducing music. This is one of their three "Epics" (my term) along with Stairway to Heaven and Achilles Last Stand. Their music is often cinematic in range. Again, I always fall back on their music being for moods and emotions and it will definitely touch your mind, heart, body, and soul. If you watch a live reaction to this, I recommend their performance from Knebworth in 1979 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nr2Piq-p2MvVYKM.html as my first choice because the entire group is together. It was about a year after this concert that John Bonham would pass away. My second recommendation is their performance of this from 2007. Jimmy, John Paul Jones, and Robert are in their late 50s/early 60s and they have John's son, Jason on drums, who was in his 40s. They STILL kill it! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hqpdgMeautOVj40.html

New subscriber today! Led Zeppelin has many different sounding songs. Not sure when you started but there is so much music to discover. My favourite decade is the 70s 💜✌️

Hi Zay and Zel, I love seeing you enjoy the best music ever, I am as the members of LZ a senior citizen from Iceland, LZ came here in 1970 after LZ II. And as the other comments here below are, this is why we stick to the music of this era specially Led Zeppelin. You are in for a musical high listening to this best band ever, best reg from Immy in Reykjavik, Do listen to Immigrant Song, they wrote it just after comming to Iceland, ...come from the land if ice and snow and the midnight sun, which they did enjoy here in June 1970.

Listening on computer speakers reminds me of the scrappy radios back then. Still though, Zeppelin was/is the best, even in scrappy speakers. Listening now is like a brand new song for those of us who never made it to a live show. I was 17 the last time they came through LA (all 4 of them). Now 64 and still my biggest musical regret.

The violin in that part is actually a taped sample played on a mellotron, a keyboard that plays tape loops.
