I blew 60K in grad school, only to have the same realization and walk away from my grand career plan. I wanted no part in the machine that just eats people who are usually victims themselves. Poverty, drugs, addiction, and mental illness are what makes "criminals." There's real evil out there and it's rarely skulking in a dark alleys or stalking lone women in parking lots. They hold public offices and are titans of business. I'd have been another cog in imprisoning people that have limited access to opportunities, which in many cases they either have no ideas they even exist or have been trained to believe there's no "place for" them and pointless to even consider, never mind pursue.

I worry about that. Then after listening to soo many of these iv started to think some people will find a reason to go down a path. For example one kid says they are from a good family but were poor.
