I was married to a police officer who was arrested for burglarizing on duty. This was an experience so foreign to me that I was totally lost. He reoffended 2 more times after doing time for the first offense. I guess he was fortunate to pass away before the 3rd case went to court because of the 3 strikes law... It was a tough walk for our 2 daughters.

This interview helped me on a day that I really needed it. I loved what he said about how if he had done things the right way, he'd have the things he wants today, but he's a nicer person because of what he went through. What he's saying I think is that having made mistakes and paid dearly for them has given him compassion that he wouldn't have otherwise. True of so many painful experiences in life.

I have been in careers where the environment can drag you in. If you start questioning your beliefs, it's time to move on. I have left high paying jobs ( yes it was painful) but I did not want to change what I stand for in the grand scheme of things. I have no regrets.

Your story, your journey is really about an evolution of hope, and self help- what you said in the end, the biggest thing your learned, is truly about yourself. You have learned to love yourself in a healthy and humble manner, and that’s why you are a good teacher. Thank you for sharing with us all. I, like you, after working as a Police Officer, have dedicated much of my time to others with PTSD. Stopping folks from committing suicide and learning coping skills to overcome the damage and trauma we endure. Thank you as always for sharing your life story with all of us. This channel has taught me to have compassion for others or at least understanding. Bottom line is, you have no idea what someone has went through in life. Things aren’t always the way you perceive it. Thanks again.

Mike, I think it’s very respectable how you are able to acknowledge your mistakes, pay for those mistakes, and come out a changed man who wants to not only better himself but others. Not a lot of people can admit their guilt and wrong doings. The fact that you can do it so openly and even look back and laugh about it is very admirable. One quote I live by is to keep moving forward. This allows me to keep going even when the times get hard, because that’s all we can do. I feel as though you are a great example of that. You kept moving forward and you learned from your mistakes and now you do your best to be your best self while helping others. Thank you for having the courage to share your story.

Mike: Start off your next interview by saying: “I’m a sociopath. I manipulate people without remorse. Here’s how you can avoid the dangers of people like me.” It would be the greatest thing you could do with the rest of your life.

Hey Mike just remember that all the saints were sinners . please advocate as much as you can, recovery recovery recovery! It’s really the only thing that matters! Definitely will help others out there! I am second generation AA my father passed some years ago with 38 years of sobriety a World War II veteran and medic he definitely was no angel but what he had on his side was redemption! He was always the love of my life and I am very proud of him for his humbleness! Pass it on one day at a time😊

Wow!! This was probably one of the best interviews I've ever watched. Mike is the real deal. Great questions and great responses! The last question was just as perfect and as poignant as Mike's response, "Love!" I love "love" and I love redemption. Mike said he's a teacher. I'd agree with him, but he's more than just a teacher. He's a bona-fide storyteller. His honesty and transparency wrapped up in his NY vibrato immediately pulls you in for more. I think EVERYBODY has a story to tell. God knows I do. I got pregnant at 16 and thought my life was over. Immediately, I felt like someone with a scarlet letter branded on my forehead. Oh, the stories I heard, but thankfully, the hardships built me, and in hindsight, they literally saved my life. I can relate to Mike. Redemption is real, and it's available to those who work hard for it. I'm a college graduate who owns my own company. I'm a fan of Mike's, and I'm a fan of this KZfaq channel. Not because I like to see people suffer, but because EVERYBODY at some point in their lives just want someone to sit and listen. Thanks for sharing!!

If he wasn’t so public about his story (documentary, podcasts, books etc) he wouldn’t have this trouble. He irritates people when he profits off his crimes. I love the guy and The 75 was incredible. He brings this on himself.

Great interview as usual, and a great idea to follow up. Michael Dowd is obviously a fast talker, a dynamic speaker, he has a lot of life experience to share and learn from. But, his core personality is to take advantage of anyone he believes is not worthy of not being a victim. He acquired a new skill, and got a new job where they were treating him well, and they accepted him when they didn't have to. They had a meeting and decided to suspend him for "running his mouth too much at work" regarding his outside endeavors involving his past criminal behavior. Instead of him taking the suspension and keeping his mouth shut, he was injured "all of a sudden," and sued them. His old ways kicked right in. A normal person would have taken the suspension, and kept their mouth shut about their side hustles. Dowd decided that the people who gave him a second chance and put up with him promoting a side hustle around a brand that involved him being a criminal, deserved to be sued. So, basically, he ruined a second career because he couldn't be a better person. I believe Dowd is talented, but he's so dirty, that he can't seem to change completely. But, I believe his sincerity that he is a work in progress, and he tries to improve a bit at a time. I wouldn't trust Michael Dowd as far as I could throw him, but I love to hear him speak. He's in the right line of work at this time because he's just talking, what he does best.
