Whether you have poor eyesight, poor lighting or a poor attitude (ha!), this video will make it easier to change the needles on your Brother 1034D serger. Do it standing up!

Thank you so much for showing this particular technique. My needle kept slipping and no matter how hard l tried to tighten it, it would still slip out during me using my overlocker. I applied your technique and it worked a treat. My needle stayed put, tightening the screw in the back easily. I will use this technique from now on. I’m one very happy sewer again. Cheers 🥰

God bless you! This helps me so much. I also love the idea of putting it on its back versus the cloth to keep the needles from falling in the machine. 😊

Thank you very much. I passed all the problems that can occur inclusive the falling down of the needles into the machine. Now I will try again and hope to be more successful.

It's the simplest things we don't think of, right?! I'm on year 12 with my 1034D and it still works great!

Thank you. Thinking about buying a serger, this model serger. Thus, a good-to-know. Have bookmarked for future reference. Can definitely see how this would be easier.

Thanks for your comment and if you get a 1034D I think you will love it as I do! I've had mine since 2012 with no problems whatsoever. It takes anything I throw at it, and I like the features better than my first serger, a Janome. I use the free arm all the time.

Thank you for sharing this technique! I haven't changed my needles yet and was dreading it because - well, if you have this machine you know why. I'm going to look for your other videos now!

You'll do fine! Actually I'm guilty of not changing my serger needles very often. 🙄 I only have two videos and hope to get on with it after all this tedious mask making. Thanks for stopping by!

I love your video ❤️♥️but I’m looking to know if the flat spot of the needle goes front or back ?
@sewlibra Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Flat part goes to the back. Sorry to be so late, I didn't get a notification!

Awesome! What size allen wrench are you using? I bought my 1034d used, and I don't believe it came with a wrench.
@sewlibra Жыл бұрын
So sorry, I just now saw this! My serger came with the wrench but you can buy one. The allen wrench is a 2mm metric. A 5/64" imperial allen wrench will work, but not as well as the metric if you can find one.

Take off the foot…. Thank you for your brilliance 🤣😂😭 I’ve been fighting and cursing this machine’s birth trying to get that blasted needle back IN! I opened the door, tried dropping the foot to give myself more room, etc. Ahh this machine is a cruel bitch, but I love her. 🤣🤪

Hi. Do they have special or different needles from the regular sewing machine?
@sewlibra3 жыл бұрын
Some sergers do use special needles but Brother uses regular sewing machine needles. I use Schmetz in all my machines.

Hi....I’m new to the world of sergers...lol. 2 questions....I can’t find the tool to change the needle, is it an Allen wrench? And is the right needle lower than the left needle?
@sewlibra3 жыл бұрын
Yes to both! The right needle is slightly lower than the left. Just make sure you have both seated all the way up before tightening. The allen wrench is a 2mm metric. A 5/64" imperial allen wrench will work, but not as well as the metric if you can find one. Have fun with your serger!

Lol I decided to change my needle after a long night of sewing, my mistake. I ended up losing the top piece that holds the needles in place and I leave for a trip in 10 days fml no idea what im gonna do next. Good video tho, just thought I'd share my horrible experience 😅
@sewlibra3 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Is it the screw you lost? Check out sewing machine parts .com and see if they can expedite it. Good luck!

Can you please help can not get the right needle to tighten
@sewlibra Жыл бұрын
Sorry this is so late, I didn't get a notification. By now hopefully all is well, but if not make sure the flat part of the needle is to the back and push it up as far as it will go. If it still doesn't tighten you may have a stripped screw and need a new one.

Mine looks different. Doesnt have screws like that
@sewlibra3 ай бұрын
The older Brother 1034D model like mine has only one screw for both needles but the newer model has two screws, one for each needle. What does your serger have?
@nataliastoev37843 ай бұрын
@@sewlibra dont know. We have 2 massive screws on the back of the needles but cannot have a screwdriver for these
