Derosa doesn't argue Hitchcock too well. What Hitchcock did that had never been done was taking the horror genre out of the gothic castles and put it into the modern world. Psycho was set in a place that anyone could relate to and it had a huge shocker with killing off its main character halfway through leaving Norman Bates as the only one left to identify with. After Hitchcock horror was no longer a medium that took place in castles with vampires and other monsters it became a medium for the modern world.

+Kris Ross You're forgetting about Fritz Lang's M, PSYCHO's spiritual descendent. The first movie about a contemporary human monster. M in turn exerted influence on the American film noir movement, which in turn influenced PSYCHO. PSYCHO was a horror/noir synthesis, with the damaged noir protagonist as the monster.

IDGAF Jack Nicholson is amazing! Fucking CHINATOWN, The SHINING, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOOS NEST, Batman, As Good as it Gets, THE DEPARTED!(recent and brilliant!). Jack's still got it imo. Yeah, he's done a lot of shit and fluff, but so has every actor, except the ones that die young.

The godfather is a romanised/ fantasy version of the mafia ( still brilliant films ) where as good fellas and casino are more so actually mafia crime films

@@joshuas22 Not really, in terms of most realistic version of American La Cosa Nostra Godfather was much more closely related to the rise of the Luciano family & the early days of the commission as opposed to Casino & Goodfellas. Goodfellas is based on real life events & characters but the story in the movie is not actually close to what happened in real life. Henry Hill & Jimmy Burke weren't even made guys & were just associates in real life. And the story as to why they wacked Tommy DeSimone is completely different from the real reason why he was killed in real life. The character Paul Cicero was actually Paul Vario & he was not the Boss of the Lucchese family just a Captain & in real life he had Tommy DeSimone killed because he was having an affair with Karen behind Henry's back & Tommy tried to rape her & he was afraid that Tommy would tell people about what happened, so Paul had his son Peter Vario & Bruno Facciolo take him to a remote location out in upstate NY & kill him.
