Brown recluse spiders infest Liberty Township home

The home owner says they've already caught 22 of the poisonous spiders in their home, and they suspect a nest has been set up.

Just in case anyone sees this, the "search and destroy" method they suggest is useless. For every one spider you see out and about, there are 25 more in the walls. Glue traps only catch a few at a time. It takes serious, serious fumigation (ie. you're staying in a hotel for a few days) to start getting rid of them.

I put 90% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) into a spray bottle and just squirt it at them a few times and they shrivel up within seconds.

Use caulking and seal up the baseboards all throughout the house. Check for openings in your walls around plumbing, electrical and drains. Seal cracks and crevices on the outside as well as this will prevent pests from getting inside. Another place to check is under and around all doors to make sure they seal well when closed. Once you have sealed up the house and made certain the pests can't inside, keep your house clean. Any food particles will attract small insects, and they are the food for brown recluse. In the case of a house that is already infested, call a pest control company to eliminate all pests inside your house BEFORE YOU MOVE IN. This includes spraying inside attacks, crawl spaces, garages as well as around the outside of the house. Get rid of all shrubs around the house. Insects love them. Cats will also help keep your house pest free, but they could get sick if they eat a brown recluse or black widow. eating these spiders is the job for lizards. The Terro glue traps work very well for testing to see if you still have pests.

One of the reasons recluse are so hard to get rid of, is because they are cannibals. No other insects around to eat? No biggie, they'll eat eachother to sustain themselves. That's why they live so long. However, they can not last forever like that. Eventually they'll wipe themselves out. I've seen it happen in my own home. Remember, keep your house perfectly clean to prevent the recluse from finding insects, and other bugs in your house to eat because your place is dirty

I have them bad in my trailer one crawled in bed with me I was playing GTAv and seen it out of the corner of my eye I killed it. I still sleep in that very bed . Very un-nerving to say the least. Can't be gotten rid of. They hide too well.

Found 12 in a couple weeks mostly in my garage and downstairs ajoined Kitchenet/bathroom went on a seek and destroy mission with a shop vac every item / box in the garage turned over and inside out. 74 recluses and 4 orb Weaver's in 5 hours garage alone. 😢 Now it's may and I'm starting to see them in the garage daily again 😭😭

Things have a nasty bite I got bit on my hand never seen what bit me it was on a Friday night started out looking like a little ant bite got worse and worse by the time I went to the hospital they were giving me morphine ever 4 hours and had a big old rotten sore and felt like it was on fire operated the next morning stayed in the hospital a week giving me drip antibiotics cost about $7,000 🕷️
