Sugar is the generic name for sweet-tasting, soluble carbohydrates, many of which are used in food. Table sugar, granulated sugar, or regular sugar, refers to sucrose, a disaccharide composed of glucose and fructose. Simple sugars, also called monosaccharides, include glucose, fructose, and galactose.

Nice and Informative. I know that Brown sugar is not a healthy substitute for Sugar. Being from Hospitality Industry I should inform you that Brown Sugar is used as an ingredient in food & cocktails for its robust flavor. What I would like you to tell us all that why Unpolished Dal is expensive than polished Dal?
@ShreeshaMokhashi
@ShreeshaMokhashi 3 жыл бұрын
I agree that the "healthy" aspect of brown sugar is just plain misleading marketing. However, the brown sugar in reality used by bakers/cooks for its delicate molasses flavour profile and natural colour. However I strongly disagree that brown rice is not healthier than white rice. Brown rice packs a lot of fiber content and micronutrients in the unpolished bran part. And compared to white rice, I have personally experienced the difference in fiber content and its impact on body weight and bowel movements. If is a variety of rice that is inherently brown even after polishing, then yes it is misleading to say brown rice is healthier than white rice. But if you are referring to unpolished rice was polished rice, I beg to differ. Similarly for brown bread. If you are using whole-wheat (atta) exclusively for the bread flour, it is definitely better in terms of fiber content compared to maida. Hence the saying brown bread is "relatively" better. But the industrial bakers put out misleading labels like whole-wheat bread (whereas in reality it is just 20-30% whole-wheat with the rest comprised of maida). Or they use maida and add artificial brown colour and call it brown bread. The labels are not lying. The marketing is misleading. Always check the ingredient list and nutritional profile before you purchase. I've also seen the same with overpriced Aashirvaad Multigrain atta where only about 5-10% was multi-grain millets/cereals and the rest was normal atta.
@akashekhar
@akashekhar 2 жыл бұрын
Brown bread which is made from whole wheat flour contains more chemical and leavening agents than white bread, so it’s not much healthier than white bread. You can make brown bread at home but it will not be as fluffy if you don’t use these chemical leavening agents.
@ShreeshaMokhashi
@ShreeshaMokhashi 2 жыл бұрын
@@akashekhar I mentioned the same. Read the labels. They are there for a reason. They try to make it as difficult as possible for you to prevent you from reading it. Small fonts, under the seal flap, crimping over vital info, etc. Yes, home made bread can never compete with industrial bread. Just like homemade food can't compete with restaurant food without adding as much fat, sugar, salt and MSG as restaurants. That's the reason homemade is considered the healthier option. I didn't understand what's your point beyond this.

Sugar is made in factory in under vaccume pressure at 65 degree temprature hense factory made brown sugar is less brownish as comapre to home made.(if sulfer not used) Because sugar caromelised above 65 degree hense homemade sugar gets dark brown colour. 👍🏻
