In this detailed video we learn how & where to look for Brown Trout in smaller rivers and also some fantastic techniques for presenting flies to trigger strikes. From nymphing to dead-drifted squirmy worms, professional guide Graham Bristow demonstrates some outstanding ways of getting reluctant trout to eat. Thanks to Graham, host Colin McKeown lands a big Brown Trout in difficult conditions. Colin and Graham are on the upper Credit River in southern Ontario in this great educational video!

Been watching NFF for a good while. Graham Bristol gave the clearest, most complete, most productive training (advice) than any guide I’ve ever seen on the show !!! Great show. Thanks.

Thanks Jim, I love to teach when I guide so that's just the way I do things everyday with my clients, and I always have a great time with The New Fly Fisher crew so they made it look easy.

@@aperfectdriftguidecompany , Could you please elaborate on , how do you manage to walk on mud without creating a mud cloud at your foot? I am a centrepin angler so I have to cover water downstream , so this is an issue I am struggling with. Any pointers would help

Mountain tailwaters are cool, but nothing beats spring creeks imo. Beautiful scenery and beautiful browns!

The 1st tip he gave about big fish being in shallow water so accurate. I got a 6 lb steelhead in 8 inches of water. So many anglers dismiss stretches of water because its shallow.

Like this video, sitting and waiting for spring to come. Nice to see areas that I have fished for many years, and the restorations that have been done by so many people over a number of years. Keep up the effort and a thank-you. To those who use these hard earned resources. leave the river cleaner than when you walked in carry a bag and please don't leave anything behind and please pickup for those who don't have the brains to do it. Using the river system is a privilege no a right. Tight lines.

At some point you've got to pressure them. If that's a heavily weighted fly go to a micro-barbed hook, and avoid round bends.

Graham your 6’ leader a reduced Tapered. Leader or is it a 6ft. Piece of 3x/2xmono?
@aperfectdriftguidecompany
@aperfectdriftguidecompany 4 жыл бұрын
Hi John, If you are referring to the streamer leader it's a 9' tapered cut a short to around 5 feet with an added 10" to 16" tippet of 10lb to 12lb test. I use short leader for tight cover and longer 9 foot to 11 foot leader for more open water with less wood. Hope that helps.

@@darrenzammit427 There isn’t really a “best.” A five weight is perfect for most Ontario fly fishing, so start there. Personally, a 3 is ideal for small streams, can even pitch small streamers, or a strike indicator and some lead, but any smaller and you’re in toy country. A seven for big pike, steelhead, salmon.
