While working on Game of Death in 1972, Bruce got the green light to start work on Enter The Dragon. Even if that was his last completed film; The studio, Golden Harvest wanted to somehow complete Game of Death or put something around what Bruce had worked on. Having the late, director Robert Clouse (Enter The Dragon) make this movie was a honorable thing. 2 writers are credited:Bruce Lee & Jan Spears. Spears' part of the story was partly based in reality. Many HK film stars dealt with the Triads (Mafia in China) and within the industry, they sought out to take advantage of anybody they could. One of the rumors of Bruce's death, he was taken out by the Mafia (not true of course). Billy Lo (Bruce's character) is 3 different stand-ins and 1 dubbed voice, you can tell which is which (sort of). The supporting cast is ok, the fights aren't bad and seeing the main footage of Bruce's work is satisfying. The opening credits, closing credits and the main song, "Will This Be The Song I'll Be Singing Tomorrow?" are obviously very James Bond-esque. The documentary, Bruce Lee:A Warrior's Journey (2000) has the complete Game of Death footage and most do prefer to watch that. Because it's the footage in it's original flow and flawless.

Kareem and Dan Inosanto were students of Bruce in real life. Dan (nunchaku fight scene) was one of only 2 people certified by Bruce to teach. Another fun fact, Dan is also the father of Diana Lee Inosanto, who starred in the Mandalorian and Ashoka as Morgan Elsbeth. She also is Bruce’s goddaughter.

15:14 no it was real, the producers took footage from it and just put clips into the film for storyline and to further make it look like if Bruce was really in the film. After he died, the industry essentially created a whole genre surrounding Bruce Lee out of exploitation with different look alike actors and this happened to be the most famous of them at the time. It was called Bruce Leexploitation if I'm not mistaken. When he died many were in disbelief a man such as him should die so young and the industry capitalized on that grief.

He filmed the pagoda scene 1st cause he knew it was going to be the hardest scene to shoot. He wanted to show case Jeet Kune Do could adapt to any style. Brandon Lee was up & coming. The Crow is recommended, but ppl forget Rapid Fire, which he shows more skills & Showdown in Little Tokyo. He played a good part in that.

Bruce Lee was a street fighter punk most of his childhood, in real life, mind you, even though he was a child actor too. The only scene(s) he shot for this movie were the Pagoda scene(s), this is why most of the film is so dark (well, the scenes Bruce in, at least), so you won't see it's not really him. The real BL was too fast for the cameras of that time, so he had to slow himself to be seen moving at all, otherwise, you'd be seeing him standing and everyone around him just fall to the ground, when it happened on set, the directors had to ask him to slow down. RIP Bruce Lee. All the scenes he's "filming" are scene from his other movies. Last fun fact from me: Kareem Abdul-Jabar was his student in real life, for a time.

Bruce Lee was in a show/film called Longstreet. Some scenes are on utube. The red nunchaku guy was Bruce Lee's training partner/student Dan Inosanto. There are plenty of videos of him online providing an insight into Bruce Lee in real life along with tutorials on his fighting methods..

There was a lot of money to be made off Bruce Lee's name when he passed & no Bruce Lee fan was happy with what they did with this film. Over the years, lost footage was found, & fans have put together something that more resembles what Bruce had in mind for the pagoda fight. If you would be up for it, I would absolutely love to see you watch this version. There's also some of Bruce's martial arts philosophy in the dialogue that wasn't used in the film & info about Kareems character, too. Maybe watch it as a mark of respect to Bruce. The story of this film was NOT what Bruce Lee wanted. Rather, it was the studio making up a story to go with the footage Bruce did do until he did Enter The Dragon. Bruce was going to finish Game Of Death, but sadly passed before he was able to. This documentary not only shows ALL the footage Bruce shot, but what the story was SUPPOSED to be about: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/osx4rL2bztu7YXk.htmlsi=vbsyfJssK1icMnda

The funeral scene in this movie is actual footage of Bruce Lee's Hong Kong public funeral. He later had a more private one with friends and family where he is inhumated in Seattle. If you want to see the actual Game of Death footage in full (because they are much longer) and as Bruce Lee intended them to be seen, watch John little's Bruce Lee a Warrior's Journey. It's a good documentary which features a quality reconstitution of the final Lee movie directly from Lee's notes.

i recommend you watch the ORIGINAL game of death pagoda scene. its longer and there were originally 2 other people with bruce while he was fighting those people. and it was more comedic. The original film was actually supposed to be a bit more funnier. and the story was WAY different from what we got here. it was also called Warrior's Journey

Many others have already recommended watching Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey and I have to as well. They reveal what Bruce Lee's real intentions were for Game of Death, and they show the complete footage as it was meant to be. There's a recent documentary I'm looking forward to called Enter the Clones of Bruce, which covers the whole Bruce-slpoitation film era and all the lookalike actors that capitalized off his name and image.

It's a shame he never got to finish this movie . for those who might be new to his films , he was filming this when he got the offer from Warner Bros , to star in Enter The Dragon .And had to shelf this movie . He was already feeling ill on the set of ETD according to John Saxon , and never got the chance to return to making this film . So the studio added in awful footage to complete it for release .

The difference between the scenes with the fake Bruce Lee and the scenes Bruce was able to perform were like night and day. Nobody had Bruce’s swag and magnetism on screen. Also the quality of Kung Fu and acting ability were so different in quality and delivery. Sad we lost him so young because he would have eventually I believe win an Oscar.

20:30 The guy in the ring is another martial arts legend named Sammo Hung. He also has a cameo in the opening fight of Enter The Dragon opposite Bruce. Sammo made many movies with Jackie Chan (who was also a stunt double in Fist of Fury). Highly recommend their movies, especially their classic ones in which they star together - and yes, Sammo is very agile and fast!

From what I've read, this kind of mirrors Bruce Lee's supposed defiance of the Triads in Hong Kong. They wanted to play ball and he told them to piss off. Some people believe he was taken out by them or that Raymond Chow (founder of Golden Harvest of which Bruce was working for) not wanting to lose his moneymaker at the hands of rival companies (like Warner Bros, who came to Bruce for Enter the Dragon) had something to do with his death. There were a lot of contributing factors that lead up to his death. And yes, that was footage from his actual funeral... over 28k people attended. Shortly after, his wife Linda had him brought back to the US for a more private funeral, consisting of close friends and family. He is buried in Seattle, Washington because according to Linda, he very much enjoyed his time there, "before all of this" (the fame) and wanted their children to be close to their father. His son, Brandon, is buried directly next to him, who died 20 years after his father on the set of The Crow, due to a real bullet still being in the gun, instead of blanks (sound familiar?). That scene where you thought his face was pasted in the mirror was actually a cardboard cutout with a towel draped over it 😦 I love your reactions. You seem chill and actually seem invested in whatever you watch. And of course, you still remain the sole KZfaqr to react to more than just Enter the Dragon XD

This whole movie except the Pagoda scene just feels so weird, 15:00, yes sadly it's real footage from Bruce Lee's funeral, which is a bizzare addition, and adds to the weirdness for me, I can only really watch the Pagoda scene, because really it's the only Bruce Lee part in the whole movie, the rest just feels like it shouldn't exist.

When they made the decision to try and complete _Game of Death_ they could not do the whole ascending-the-tower thing that Bruce had originally envisaged because come 1978 that idea had been done to death in Hong Kong at the time; this is why what we ultimately got is nothing like what Bruce had planned (at least, not until someone discovered Bruce's original script notes several years later and cut together whatever footage survived). In the scene earlier in which Hakim was just sitting down that was not Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Kareem refused to be a part of this film when he was approached after the decision was made to complete it as he believed that it was distasteful, so for that shot they just got some other guy and shot him at that low angle to hide the fact that he was not as tall as Kareem.

The final three fight scenes with Bruce are some of my favorite fight scenes of his. The rest of the movie is kind of laughable except for maybe a couple of scenes. And yes that was really Bruce Lee's real funeral, and that was really Bruce Lee's corpse laying in the coffin. That was kind of tasteless if you ask me, never should have been used to make a movie. Bruce Lee's script for this movie was much better than the movie we got. But the director of the film decided to change the story and use something totally different than what Bruce wrote down on paper. I've seen Bruce Lee's version on paper, and it sounds a whole lot better. Too bad they didn't use that. Bruce was way ahead of his time, amd he has inspired many people to be the best they can be, he even inspired me as a kid to get into martial arts myself, as I'm sure he did for many others. Anyway, great reaction, I look forward to more.... God bless and Happy New Year!! ❤

When it comes to the Bruce Lee-alikes, generally it's the Korean martial artist Kim Tai-Chung (who was given the Chinese name Tong Lung in billing, which is likely a nod to _The Way of the Dragon_ due to Bruce's character in that being similarly named). However, for the more acrobatic and/or trickier kicks it's actually Yuen Biao, a very flexible, highly gymnastic Hong Kong actor and martial artist who trained at the same Opera School as Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung. Yuen Biao did a considerable amount of doubling during this period due to his impressive abilities. One example in your footage in which Yuen doubled Kim is the flip-kick at 22:56 and when he flips off the bench at 22:27, with the spinning crescent kick that immediately follows it also being Yuen. There were a selection of movies that featured Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, and whenever they were in the same film together the chemistry between them was just electric. Such films include _Project A, Wheels on Meals_ and _Dragons Forever._ Jackie did also appear with the other two in _Winners and Sinners, My Lucky Stars_ and _Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars_ but in reality these are where Jackie is in a supporting role in a film in which Sammo is the actual star.

Kareem said in his book, "Giant Steps", it really WAS that tough sparring Bruce-" He was just too quick" He was one of his first students and close freind. The "Billy Lo" subs did a good job imitating Bruce, but the resturaunt ending fight scenes shows the diff between a "clone" and the real deal. 30:19 That was how Bruce rolled.."Nailing me with some Akido? Have some wrestling and Judo, chump! ( Hence the WWF finish) Big shame how the studio held back lots of extra fight footage with Isanato, The Akido /Karate guy and Kareem..It's great stuff ( U can find it on utube) Happy New Year to u!!

Not the best effort by the studio, a bit of a mess really, but the actual footage towards the end with Lee ascending the pagoda fighting against the masters makes it worth putting up with the shambles. The studio rushed to get this movie out because of Lee's popularity at the time, plus a lot of Asian studios were starting to take advantage of their own Bruceploitation movies after Lee's death hiring actors to try and mimic Lee. Actors/martial artists Bruce Li and Dragon Lee were two of the most popular of the Bruce Lee look-a-likes around during this period, however, the novelty faded away as quickly as it appeared which didn't leave much in the ways of a decent or memorable performance or even furthered the careers of these two fine actors/martial artists. Soon after Lee's passing, Hollywood ignored or simply lost interest in the martial arts genre until another martial arts star caught their attention. Jackie Chan's Hollywood debut movie "Battle Creek Brawl" aka "The Big Brawl" was Hollywood's follow up attempt of the genre and from here onwards Hollywood further exploited their own martial arts films utilizing both Asian and non Asian actors. Some of the actors weren't even martial artists and the quality of martial arts films dropped immensely. This was the period where every studio wanted a piece of the martial arts box office action and worried more about money than the quality of the films they were releasing.
