Spent 2-days / 1-night backpacking in Bruce Peninsula National Park. In this video I show footage from the beautiful vistas along the Bruce Trail and at the Bruce Peninsula camping site High Dump. There's information on the backcountry campsites, facilities and some behind-the-scenes shots and trail musings.

That stretch from Half Dump to the Grotto is one of the gnarliest on the whole Bruce Trail. Great video, thanks for sharing your adventure.

It's such a beautiful area of the province! I've gone for day hikes there quite a few times - although I have to admit that I'm more of a glamper than a camper! ;) I can imagine that it would be such a beautiful place to wake up to!!

Fair enough! Although, with the composting toilets and tent platforms it's like backcountry glamping! I would definitely go back to do a little more day hiking myself - I would have done more side trails but my bag was heavy haha

@@VoyageurTripper I was wondering if you can tell me what month did you visit the park? Did you find you needed all of the warm clothing you brought?
@VoyageurTripper
@VoyageurTripper 2 жыл бұрын
@Chrissy McAl I did the hike toward the end of October (a little after thanksgiving) so you definitely don’t need as much warm clothing this time of year!

Great video. I have a question if I may, do you think the tent pads are big enough for two tents? I am taking a group of 12 soon, I have 3 people per pad, I am wondering if I can fit a 2 man tent and 1 man tent on one pad, or possibly even 2 x 2 man tents?

So helpful! I found that the official park website didn’t have a lot of info at all. Btw, your link to the park website in the trip report goes to the patagonia website.

Great video thanks for posting. I think it's so wonderful that we live in a beautiful province like Ontario where people --especially young women that can camp solo in relative peace and safety and not be stalked by crazies or psychos unlike in some other countries in North America, "wink, wink" if you know what I mean.

Great video. Really enjoyed it. You have convinced me to try this trail next summer, it looks fantastic. Question for you, was the Grotto closed to day visitors? I was there a couple of years ago and the place was packed. Just wondered if it was closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. Keep up the good work with the videos and I look forward to receiving a copy of your cookbook - just about to put in an order today.

Thanks so much Jamie! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! The Grotto was open when I was there, though I think they're strict on the number of day visitors they allow. I'm not sure if it's changed since the lockdown became stricter. And thanks for ordering the cookbook! I'm looking forward to you receiving it!

Hi Mikaela just recently viewed Conoehound Adventures where yourself debuted I'm a avid hiker always trying to find knew hikes I can say The Bruce Peninsula N.P is on my bucket list for this summer just one question I'm a hammock camper would recommend a hammocker to set up camp. Looking forward to more adventures from you!!!
@VoyageurTripper
@VoyageurTripper 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Martin! Are you thinking of hammock camping in BPNP? Since the campsites are tent platforms, I don't know with certainty that all the tent platforms have nearby trees that you could use to set up a hammock. That would be my only concern. Hope that helps!

Found your blog while planning (dreaming about) a trip to BPNP. Unfortunately, las year's trip fell through due to covid restrictions. Fingers crossed! Question: was getting water a real challenge because of the waves? Any tips on how to make it easier?
@VoyageurTripper
@VoyageurTripper 3 жыл бұрын
It was a challenge! The person camping next to be had a hot with a big handle over it with a long rope attached. He through it into the water and then reeled it back - worked so well!

Amazing! Dis you have any bear spray or bear horn with you? I’ll be on the same spots in September and can’t find enough info about bear encounters in the area.
@VoyageurTripper
@VoyageurTripper 2 жыл бұрын
I didn't carry either with me. The bears in this area are black bears and tend to avoid people / be non-confrontational. If you were to bring something, I'd recommend a horn over bear spray since it's effective from a further distance. Enjoy the route!

Hi, one question, did you have to go to Cyprus lake in order to register and get the parking permit? or htey have a office in halfway log Dump?
@VoyageurTripper
@VoyageurTripper 2 жыл бұрын
I had to go to the one near Cyprus - there wasn't one at Halfway Log Dump. The office is only part way down the road to Cyprus though - I didn't have to go all the way to the campground.
