Saw them twice. Hard working band, played long concerts with few special effects, just a love of the music and a desire to knock the crowd out.

Bruce is one of the greatest performers I have ever seen. I will never forget his many concerts at madison square garden in the 70's and 80's. His songs were/are epic and touched our souls.

Any doubts that we are watching the greatest live performer of all time must surely be dispelled after watching this. The man is in a class of his own...and what a band RIP Big Man

Bruce’s performances just never end, and I love it. I so wish I would’ve been around in ‘78.

Forty years ago he was in the studio recording his first album, "Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ," released January 3, 1973. Who could know he had started five decades of unmatched excellence, writing songs, recording, & performing? I boarded This Train shortly after this show. Little did I know that the ride of my life would last the rest of my love. I's a miracle that he's putting on incredible, 3 1/2 - 4 hour rock shows, right now, at 63. He's like a gift from God to all of humankind.

I was at this show. I remember this as if it were yesterday. It was my first Bruce concert and I told people to watch out for him. Nils Lofgren wasn't in the band back in 1978. He showed up years later.

Nothing new can be said about the man or the band that hasn't already been said. He mostly lets his music do the talking, and I think with his epic concerts, he puts "acts" today to shame. Saw him in Portland Or. 4-3-00 Awesome show. Hope to see again this year.

Don't be a moron. He's one of the best live performers in history. If you don't like him, fine, but that doesn't change that fact.
@brianmortensen79336 жыл бұрын
Oh, yeah, "should not be"... a guy who writes his own songs, that have been covered by other credible artists, with a hard-working, talented band that has been willing to play for three hours a show, with an ear toward the past when rock'n'roll had innocence and energy. But, dude, nice comeback.
@dougw78045 жыл бұрын
Have been very fortunate to see almost 1000 shows in my lifetime, there aren't many bands that I haven't seen, many multiple times. Out of my all time favorite Top 50 shows, 15-20 of 'em are Bruce shows, easily. Nobody, and I mean nobody, puts on a show like this guy.

I distinctly remember when Bruce was on the cover of both TIME and NEWSWEEK--the same week- in 1975. Unexpected. It meant he was no longer unknown.
@joboykin67405 жыл бұрын
Actually, I was 15 in '75, in NC, going to every concert I could, most for under $10. Zeppelin, The Who, Clapton, Dylan, Bad Company. I vividly remember seeing those magazines in the art room and wondering why I hadn't ever heard of him. Unfortunately, I didn't see him until I was in my 20's. 60+ shows under my belt now and wishing I could go back and grow up in Jersey so my 15 year old self could have had this joy in my life earlier.

Thank you so much for posting this exciting clip! To think this was the kind of energy Bruce and his band could still produce at end of a long show is incredible. Add to that the fact that this was the 5th such concert they'd played in 5 different cities that week. Finally, realize this was the kind of workload they'd already endured for four months of the monster 1978 tour that would last four more months. I can't get my head around that. I'm tired just typing it.

OH MY GOD. Words, can't even come close to describe how entertaining, how fucking awesome that video is. Jesus. Bruce Springsteen, and his legendary EAST STREET BAND! Most people don't even realize Springsteen's this good, because if they did...... Jesus. Sad part is my generation has moved to techno and pop shit. Even when springsteen did it in the 80's it was quality music.

The tune is "Streets of fire", probably the essential of "Darkness on the edge of town". It even inspired Walter Hill, few years later, to make a movie under that name, with the atmosphere pretty much resembling the one of this song.

This was back in the day when you had to have talent to please an audience-had to sing had to play instruments and had to be great at both. Clarence Clemmons coming at you like a freight train...Bruce singing his heart out...Could barely recognize Max Weinberg..Danny Federicci (sp) tinkling the ivories..Niels Lofgren and all the rest...You know a band is having a blast when they are smiling and laffing over the same routines they play over and over-and the audience feeds off it. Bruce!
