Lucy walks up to the mic and looks around the room... she notices Celine Dion sitting in back row towards the wall. The Orchestra starts playing, then, on cue Lucy opens her mouth, and magic happens. In less than 5 minutes, history has been made. As Lucy is finishing 'All By Myself' Celine is now standing and clapping. Shortly later, the entire audience is standing in ovation of Lucy's performance. Lights fade to dark, curtains close, Lucy takes her first full breath of air since she started singing. Bruddah, thank you for your wonderful reactions to Lucy and her music. Many feel that she has already arrived, and is in the Top Tier among all singers of her generation. While her friends were playing with their Barbie Dolls, Lucy was attending Voice Lessons and Performance Lessons. At the ripe old age of 10, Lucy says 'Look out World - here I come'. Her semi-final place in Voice Kids - Great Britain at age 14 was not a loss, but a huge win. She was noticed by several Record Labels. She signed with one of the best in Britain. The rest is Lucy's own Cinderella Story. 'All By Myself' is a challenging song. Even Celine Dion finds the last 1/3 with key change, high notes, loud notes very hard. She has some special techniques you can see when she performs live. The foot stomp, arm waving, fist up, etc all help her connect with audience and herself singing the song. Old technique even actors use to get the energy out. Lucy never imitates, she improves the songs and make them her own. Label does some re-composing to better take advantage of Lucy's incredible vocal range. Celine might go up a 1/3, Lucy is doing that plus a whole octave more. Lucy's voice never cracks, high, low, soft, loud, short, or long. Her physical performance helps audience connect with the story (song). All Lucy needs now is chance to show herself to the world. They too will fall in love with Lucy, just has so many of her fans.

When Lucy steps on the gas.... there is no stopping her. Her runs both up and down scale, long holds, and ability to fill a room with her voice keeps her fans happy. I am thinking, where will Lucy be in 5 years or even 10? Perfection every time she sings.

This piece really shows off Lucy's vibrato. In the second half after the bridge she has a long run of changes and keeps her beautiful vibrato all through it. Perfect execution!

*_Sam... remember all the times we just wanted Lucy to go BIG.. this sound is HUGE._* I still get the shivers every time I hear Lucy perform this song. Even knowing in advance the powerful crescendo that is coming at 2:40 in song, it still floors me. Everything before that is like building a ramp, getting ready for the jump into hyper-drive... full forte, long holds, big runs, giant chorus, it takes the listener to another place and time. It works splendidly and we never want to come back down to Earth again. *_Keep us in this magical spot for just a little longer, we don't want it to end._* Celine was 19 when David Foster discovered her. I wish David Foster had a chance to see Lucy perform this song. He would be awe struck just as we are.

Started with “in the arms of an angel”, and working our way forward. @@anthonyl.6879 I can't argue with that. Your support of Lucy is admirable. Lucy and Emily are both excellent singers, the reason I support Emily is because she is multi-talented......the full package. Emily can go on stage with her piano and guitars and fully entertain an audience. Very few singers can do that. They need a backing band or backing tracks to support them. Having said that, I wish both Lucy and Emily all the very best success for the future.

Hi ya ... again, Sam - this is the second time I listened to this reaction, and I honestly burst out crying because it brought back all the pain of losing my wife in July 2020. This song normally only brings me to tears but today was beyond description. There is only one person that can move me to this kind of reaction and that person is Lucy Thomas and her duets with Martha and the latest with their mother Louise with Smile. Please don't stop reacting to Lucy ... and Martha.

Welcome back Bruddah... you have been missed. Got to say you are probably one of the best Video Reactors in KZfaq land. I am not the only one who looks forward to next new song from Lucy Thomas, and your amazing reactions to it. On some sites, the reactions look 'staged' and maybe even rehearsed. I know I am watching the unvarnished real deal from our buddy Bruddah.

@@BruddahSam Re-watched your reaction to 'Footprints In The Sand'. Depending on my day, I too can get emotional listening to Lucy, or Lucy and Martha. Some songs really fill me with emotions. Not in a negative way, but helps me look inside myself for areas needing change. I take time on Fridays to re-watch songs from Lucy Thomas and Reactors.... my week wouldn't be complete until I've heard Angel's voices. When I die, wonder if God has Lucy and Martha playing on PA system in Heaven?

Love your great reactions to Lucy and Martha Thomas, its great to see some recognition for these two great talents on this side of the ocean. I don"t know if you have ever reacted to Run by Lucy but it was probably the first of her covers i heard and i believe it to be phenomenal. I look forward now to new songs from lucy, or the sisters, as i know, that you will in all likelihood react to them. I don't mean to be rude to the Thomas girls, but have you ever heard of another singer by the name of Amira Willighagen? She might not be quite the style you enjoy, but you could maybe listen to her version of Amazing Grace, as it is very good, and she was but 13 i believe when she sang it. Anyway, glad to hear that you are on the mend, so we can listen to more of your reactions!

The song was actually written by Eric Carmen, in 1975, based on the second movement of a Rachmaninoff piano concerto, with the addition of part of his own song "Let's Pretend." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_by_Myself) You can hear him sing it, here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n7Rpds1yy9WZnmQ.html Celine Dion didn't sing it until 1997, I believe, when she won a Grammy Award for it. She has uploaded it to her own KZfaq channel, on a playlist for the album on which she published it, remastered. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hK2if8VnvJu9f4E.html I actually think Lucy's voice quality and style is more like that of Eric Carmen, in this video. I like Celine's version as well, but Lucy's is smoother and more poignant, I think...again, more like Eric's, but still very much her own, lovely, full-bodied sound. Way too over the top for this song. There's no doubt she's a phenomenal singer, but the whole point of this song is simplicity and sparsity to convey loneliness. Then the original piano solo-- which in this version was compacted into almost nothing-- was incredibly moving and stirred melancholy emotions. Which I thought very beautifully contrasted with the simple piano and vocals of the rest of the song. Not every song is made better by soaring vocals.

That's just your preference. We all get to decide how we _personally_ prefer an arrangement. We could say this piece of music shouldn't even have lyrics, afterall, the foundational origins of the music was a classical piece by Rachmaninoff that Eric Carmen used (stole). It's unfair to compare this version with Eric Carmen's as it's based on the Celine Dion's version, being totally different types of vocalists.
