One of the highlights of my year boys, this one. Loved it. So elegant. Loved seeing Scott getting uptight about the card sleeve - just in case it doesn't clip back on. Underneath it there's a huge label filled with whisky deets. That's a good price compared to our £150!

This is all over shelves in my area for the past 6 weeks ranging from $175-200. They dont seem to be moving too fast and it echoes Barts pause in mulling over it's price tag. Clearly the overall experience doesn't quite warrant the srp. (i think a lot of us are more interested in finding the Port Charlotte 18 at this general price point but those are much rarer and very hard to find)

Great to see a Scotch whisky back on the program, and a Bruichladdich at that. Sounds like good whisky - but a pity about the "luxury" price tag which Remy Cointreau is demanding. They seem to be trying to enter the "ultra premium" area, for what that's worth (I'd wager very little from the perspective of an average wage). By the way, the covering does come off the bottle easily. Just be gentle opening it the first time, using that lash you had your hands on during the video. It then fits back on and "locks" itself back into position if you want the bottle protected from light. Nifty, if you like that sort of thing. Cheers.

By the way, you can take the cardboard cover off and put it back on! That 'button' acts like a clasp.

A lot of folks are not happy about the price, me too. In the context of everything available from Scotland, yes, this is definitely high. However, in the context of what Bruichladdich has been charging for many years now for everything except the Classic Laddie, it's average. Cask exploration series, MC, MRC, OLC, etc... are all single digit age and are $120-150. Islay barley, Organic, Beere Barley, and others are also quite high for again single digit age. Toss Octomore into the comparison, and the prices are so far out of line and always have been. Independent bottles of Bruichladdich that are in this age range available here are $350 and up. Cheers

I had the chance to taste it at the Bon acccord in Glasgow. I found it really interesting and complex I would love to buy a bottle or even better receive one 😂 No I didn’t buy it But do the math with me In my country I’m going to pay around 10€ for a small dram of a Johnny Walker red label (around 3 cl) a bottle coutains around 23 drama ... 230€ to pay for a red label in a restaurant or a cafe At the bon accord I paid £16 for a generous dram of it so more or less the same math So no it’s not that expensive compare to what you’re going to pay if you drink outside Now it’s a lot of money and yes they charge too much for it ... but they fallow the movement of others distilleries who increase the price for their 18 Do they have to do it ? They don’t have to but they choose to do it ... A nice bottle a nice design but not a price for my wallet

I love this bottle, but then again I love everything coming out of Bruichladdich. The price tag does hurt a bit but since I am a fan of the distillery I don't mind paying it for now. It takes that delicious, unpeated Islay flavor and cranks it up a bit from the regular Classic Laddie. Cheers!

you could always buy a 2nd bottle to find out whats under the wrapping. i bet that smells amazing and tastes even better. i think Bart's wife is getting jealous of that bottle, he has his hands all over it.

Jean picked this up at Total awhile ago. You can leave the paper on by unlatching the tab. It's designed to come on an off. It is very neat packaging! There's a funny bit on KZfaq about a fella who tears it off and later realizes he didn't have to. Poor fella lol. Cheers fellas! If memory serves, we scored it similar to you two.

Glad to get my hands on one of these- really liked the palate at first opening but threw it in a blind to see if I made a good choice, along with 2 other 18s and a 15 year. This came out on top so felt good about spending the $$ (was sub $170 in my area). Now want to try the PC18.

Great review Scott and Bart! I really like this one. Was $180 in my state and sold quickly. Rich nose and deep flavors make it an enjoyable pour. The cover does come off (and goes back on)…😂🥃

Great review and great whiskey!, I wish it was $125. It will fly off the shelves. Around NJ NY, $179 to $219 (definitely pricey. Have to work out the budget but if we go one year $10 it's right there still pricey) that cardboard wrapper definitely comes off and you can put it back on. I'll watch the guy do it in the store. Looking forward hopefully on a sale getting a death bottle. Cheers gentlemen!

This is a delicious dram. A tad expensive. Btw the paper wrapper can be put back on, its friction the only thing holding the paper on.

Do you know the crazy thing about this bottling? You won't find the words "colouring-free, unchillfiltered" anywhere on the bottle or the recyclable blue cardboard packaging. That's not exactly a great example of being "transparent" as Bruichladdich claims to be. I had to go on the website to find the info, and even then it was in tiny print where it could easily be overlooked. Not good enough in my book. As Ralfy always says: "Put it on the label!" Cheers.

A bottle of very good Loch Lomand 18 is about $80, Tomatin 18 about the same price, so EVERY distillery which has jumped on the 18yo-whiskies-are-now-$150+- bandwagon are greedy opportunists IMHO. Suckers are born everyday, and so are sheep, and I'm told it's still a free world, so if people want to buy a $200 bottle of 18yo Bruichladdich or $400 18 Macallan 18, go for it 👍

Personally I think distilleries setting the price of their 18s at over $150 are shooting themselves in the foot and disrespecting the intelligence & sensibilities of their customers. But feel free to buy, $200 Bruichladdich 18, $300 Springbank 18, and $400 Macallan 18 if it makes you happy 👍
