Please consider supporting the project each week with a few dollars / brupeg
Diederick & Dame push hard to get the AC electrics finished, ready for Damon to finish off the DC side of the electrical system in a week or so. The guys power the boat up from the new generator and it works perfectly!
Here is what happened over the final two days with Diederick. See the moment Brupeg starts up for the first time on a fully functioning AC electrical system.
A big thank you to Diederick for making the 3,200km round trip to make sure Brupeg is ready for the next stage of the install.
Cheers

I think if a kiwi ever approaches a DIY job and some aspect of ‘she’ll be right’ isn’t at play, he or she should immediately seek medical attention as that almost sounds terminal to our ears. Our thoughts and prayers would be with their family at that very difficult time.

Brackets and mounts on the Battleship Brupeg! Where over-engineering is never a dirty word........ Nice to see Ma and Pa Smurf securely fastened on the wall, I have no doubts all the baby Smurfs will be equally secured to battleship standards 😃👍🏼 A huge step forward, knowing that such a critical system is in place, will give you a lot of peace of mind THANKS "D" 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Dame, you should obtain a pair of those 'Professional Safety Thongs' so no one will question your welds ever again! When I had to use 'un-tinned' cable on our cruiser, I massaged some di-electric grease into the strands, never had corrosion problems with my new wiring, only on the stuff that came with the Pacemaker...

This was a very satisfying video. Real progress , AC power and generator running. The mess can be dealt with later. What satisfaction to hear little miss geny come to life. Plus powering up the ship. Your color coded electric map will be something to behold. I suggest you color code things like fuel lines etc. Of course in your spare time 😂. How is temperature in the battery/ electric room. Still think you need so kind of cooling once all the covers are in place. The galley is the place for cooking😂. Thumbs up for everyone with a beer in the other hand

FYI: Aircraft "Fire Handles"; Shut off all engine services, and Arm the Fire Systems for discharge. A Restaurant grade, Halon system(s) would be perfect for Engine and Electrical bays.

They will have a large case earth which will achieve the same thing. The case earth needs to be able to handle a full DC current discharge. The wiring diagram calls for it to be 120mm2 so it’s a massive cable. Biggest on the boat

Up in the Pilot House where the Electrics box is being reconfigured, it appears that you changed the plan to mount the breakers on the DIN Rail inside the box on the aft wall of the box (the one sharing wall with the Saloon) and NOT on the swinging door to the box. Earlier on, you explained it is not a good idea to have cables that are constantly being flexed or moved by being placed on a swinging door. So your solution was to mount them on the aft wall of the box and not the swinging door. Then later on, it looks like the breakers and DIN rails have been mounted on the Door? I am confused. Did you change the plan? Are those breakers now permanently mounted to the "door" that is no longer able to swing open because it is screwed down to the wood underneath? Maybe this is just a small detail that will be fixed once everything else is squared away? I am so confused! LOL Great video I don't know how you are managing to keep all these plates spinning at once. Jerry

If there's one thing that's a bummer about the engine room, it's that it's not just a few cm higher so peeps could stay upright proper in it. But that'd mess up the verticality of the boat so... can't win them all.

Using non tinned wire, while not is good is only an issue if you don’t seal the ends correctly. We have tinned wire onboard that was sealed correctly seven years ago and it looks like new when you open it up.

Good work guys. Just one question. Why don’t you have the genset controll panel up in the wheelhouse or have you got a second one for this?
@ProjectBrupeg

The genset is able to be controlled by the victron cerbo and the touch screen that connects to it, so once the rest of the gear is installed and wired the genset panel isn’t needed up top

On a boat we’ve found after a while, you develop the skill to classify noises into two categories. ‘I can ignore that noise and stay sleeping’ and ‘I need to be up and fully alert and possibly dressed so I can deal with that noise at the other end of the boat in under 3 seconds’.
