So brutal legent it is.

Brutal Legend was like a remnant of previous game development. Back when you had the latest innovation and graphics but instead of trying to be more realistic they instead took the silly and exaggerated stuff along with creative ideas to simply scale it up. From 8 to 16 pixels and up to 32. They didn't stay at 16 because of budget or inexperience with 32 tech. They could jump right away. Best example is Elder Scrolls which really buffed the overworld size for the sequel. Other games mainly the N64, ps1 and ps2 really pushed this with many developers releasing cartoony yet detailed and even graphical or gritty designs. Like Final Fantasy 7 clearly being silly and colorful characters but highly detailed and industrial dark environments. Legends Of Zelda and Psychonauts too. Both silly and appealing to younger kids and teenagers but their scale and open worlds with content push the systems to their limit. Today that kind of effort is exclusively done for realistic graphics. Maybe cause going that high would make any cartoon look horrifying with so much detail on simple designs and shapes. Just imagine 5000 vertice 4k high definition Bugs Bunny eyes with realistic layers to his eyes and pupils along with almost Zootopia Brutal Legend style hair movement and precision on each strand.

There was a reference to this game in Psychonauts 2 when Raz is inside the brain in a jar and he gets Vision’s instrument. When Raz pulls out the instrument it’s pretty much like how Eddie got his axe

I can summarize this game in a single Jontron quote: That's fuckin' metal as fuck, dude.

It's Arkham City, Darksiders II, Dynasty Warriors, Devil May Cry, Soul Reaver, and Battletoads and Double Dragon all in one neat package of awesome. Loved Psychonauts, found it enjoyable, and this game is even better. I really admire Tim Schafer's style.

This game reminds me a lot of 'Motorhead' on the Amiga 500 where Lemmy had to smash enemies with guitar riffs, belch green clouds and throw Jack Daniels bottles :oD
