Same here. If we didn’t keep learning and growing, we’d stagnate, and they doesn’t bode well, especially for people like us. I am 67 years old and continuing to learn and grow. It’s what keeps me young (along with eating well, exercise, meditation/mindfulness, gratitude, and giving back to the world. I so appreciate Jordan Peterson’s videos, which I have only recently discovered. Thank you for this content. Keep up the good work.

the Optimism of believing that you can be better and do better..... a person has the option of slowly raising themselves out of mire.... = the antidote to the suffering....;; also take "stock" of mistakes and learn from them.... (just keep in mind that our behavior is the product of temperment, which is inborn (nature), and nurture (programming in childhood).... so the goal is to become aware of our defective and/or dysfunctional programming and try and strive to do better....

I’ve been sacrificing who I am and my potential to be liked and accepted by others who do not share my same goal. I get where I went wrong. I was raised by a strong man and I learned so much good only to allow this world to trick me into thinking he was wrong. No more. I will fulfill my destiny. Too many good people fought through hardship to build this beautiful world. I won’t help destroy it. Be strong guys. Find your path and never look back.

Life is beautiful, we have to change the perspective and how we perceive and see negative situations. Negative situations, persons etc has its own beauty. Every person, every situation gives you a lesson, knowledge, knowledge etc and we have to be humble to be open to learn, and be open to see the knowledge in order to grow, and being responsible means you are responsible of your life, you don’t play the role of a victim of circumstances and person. You are in control of your life, you challenge yourself to do and be better every day because you know you deserve better and be better ( self esteem- dignity- you respect yourself, etc ). You don’t allow negative circumstances destroy who you are, you don’t give the power to negative circumstances to transform you in a resentful or any negative way. We have to learn and see the purpose of negative situations. Life is not going to give us test that we cannot overcome. Fall in love of the process and change the perspective of life and learn to see the beauty in everything, and be open to learn, change and growth.❤

Or a negative assumption. “This bad thing is going to happen” no. I refuse to accept that as set in stone. If I did, it would create and accept a block or barrier that would keep me stuck. I refuse to stay stuck and “just accept” that there isn’t more, or a better way, or a “loss” because why would I accept losing, when there’s no evidence that there is no win? That’s illogical to me.

Rise from the ashes of your old self? Who burns themselves down in the first place? This implies that you have no roots, no antecedents and no personal history. But this applies to no one. The past may hard to accept but that doesn’t make it a good thing to burn it down. Not everyone needs to know your personal history but that’s still you in some sense, like it or not. Remember the line about forgetting the past and then being condemned to repeat it. If it’s not good enough for you then don’t forget it, overcome it.

You are not alone in this. I am exactly like you. I don't know how to function like a normal person anymore, having suffered from severe depression along with an eating disorder for so long. The only thing I can tell you, is that as long as you have the will to change, change *will* be possible. Don't give up! Focus on small positive things in your life. Try and do it step by step, which is wat I am doing as well. We will get there eventually, I promise :)

I don’t know you but I heard a wise saying that says discipline is doing the thing you hate the most like you love it. When you’ve been in a mindset associated with pessimism and uselessness(sorry to be frank), you don’t allow yourself to start small. Doing something as small as brushing your teeth is a burden, but if you have nothing but hopelessness and self pity, you must push yourself to aim low. Pick anything small that you might not think is worth it and do it. You will fail at it, but you tried and that feels better than regretting not trying at all. I love you, I hope you see this.

For me, the fact that Jordan Peterson is a few months older than me really gives me hope and inspiration. I didn't think I could change at this age but since this January I made up my mind to lose the 30 lbs I've been holding since I turned 50. My goal? To fit into my wedding dress on my 30th wedding anniversary this June. I've got about 10 lbs to go and it's in my sights. Almost all my medical issues are gone and I feel 35 again! If you have goals you can succeed!!!! Do it for yourself. Just go for it!!!! Each success (and my wonderful supportive husband) got me even more motivated. If an old broad like me can do it so can you. All the best to everyone. ❤
